  1. Can we put ourselves down for a couple of Terry's and a Drogba as well if this is how it works!
  2. Perhaps they're no better in quality, but they're a damned sight more applicable to our needs which I think both the previous two incumbents of the manager's chair failed to address. As has been alluded to previously, Ashley is unable to plough the big money in until the club is de-listed (scheduled for 18th July). I can't say for sure, but I'm hoping that at least one signing after this point will make people's eyes open. I think we could still spend big on a deal if we wanted, much as i know nowt about finace! If they know come July 18th he'll plough the cash in then we can just spend the money from the clubs own resources anyway with him soon to replace it, and in most tranfers you don't pay it all up front anyway. But either way i think we'll see some bigger spending allied to Big Sam's shrewd use of frees and cheaper players to build a "proper" squad, something we haven't had in ages.
  3. Which 6 are they on about?? Owen, Martins, Viduka & Ameobi obviously and then it's take your pick from Carroll, LuaLua, Troisi & Luque. If it meant the arrival of Gudjohnsen, I'd happily pack the bags of Ameobi, LuaLua, Troisi or Luque That's a good advert for our youth team, kicking young kids out who are likely to be on small wages to accommodate Gudjohnsson. I take it you've seen enough of them to judge that they're not going to be good enough? What I've seen of LuaLua I'm not at all impressed, I don't think he's anywhere near the talents of Ameobi. Not seen enough of Troisi but by all accounts he's not going to set the world alight. Take it you're not keen on Gudjohnsen arriving then? Even if the two kids are promising, i think i'd live with losing one of them to get fucking Gudjohnsen in!!!
  4. Hopefully with him being free it can be sorted straight away and get it sorted very quickly. Unless he's talking to anyone else (Villa have been mentioned) which would slow it all down. I'd imagine Big Sam will have him convinced and have it done pretty sharpish though.
  5. I think there's a chance both will stay and i hope they do. I think there's only Arsenal with any likelyhood of paying the £13m for Martins and really, other than paper speculation and mentions of Wenger saying he rated Martins last season there's not been anything serious as of yet. With Owen there's the fact that Benitez doesn't want/rate him enough, Chelsea have never been linked with him, nor has Wenger really and alot of the top teams might want to wait and see if he is over the injury before risking £9m plus massive wages. If i was given a straight choice of who i wanted to stay then obviously its Owen, he's a world class goalscorer proven at every level and if he is back to his best could make a massive difference to our season.
  6. Seeing some of the people in the line-up i'd disagree! You kidding me Papa Laz ? I thought Duran Duran would have been just your cuppa tea I don't mind them actually to be honest! Can't say i made (or would ever make) the effort to turn on and watch them live though. nah me neither, I never really liked em in the 80's, I was more of a WET WET WET fan and Id walk to the end of the earth to see the Wets I'd walk to the ends of the earth to get away from Wet Wet Wet

  9. Agree with that, we aren't in a position to just dump the whole squad, it takes time to change everything completely. Plus i always thought Dyer would be a player Big Sam would think he could get a lot out of and hopefully he will. Back a few years when we played Bolton i remember Allardyce pointing out (from his scientific studies and pro zone stuff) when you played NUFC you had to basically do the work of 12 men as the likes of Dyer did the work of 1 and a half players in terms of his engine and getting around the field. Also Dyer has on the basis of last season finally sorted out his injury problems, so if Big Sam can get the Dyer who first returned to the team and had a big effect on them rather than the Dyer after that who disappeared up his arse he may have a useful player again!
  10. So the chairman basically says Big Sam wouldn't be good enough to get their job now, and says Lee is the reason for signing the players and did the coaching and Allardyce is supposed to say nothing to defend hismelf and his achievements at Bolton!!! If somebody slates you like that then you're more than entitled to respond and defend yourself. If he has a problem with what Gartside said then he should give him a call and talk to him himself, comments like this just add fuel to the fire. In general Allardyce is too keen to talk to the media, on this occasion I don't think anyone is taking Gartside's comments too seriously, everyone in football knows that Allardyce was the driving force behind Bolton's success. I can see what you're saying, that he could have bollocked him over the phone. But i think he is very proud of what he's achieved in the game (perhaps more so than warranted, perhaps not) and so if somebody publically denegrates him and his work then he will respond publically back. Also whilst i'm one of those people who doesn't want their manager or players mouthing of before games slagging off the other team, their manager or a particular player as it fires them up, i don't think Big Sam firing back at the chairman for denying him the credit for Bolton's success during the close season will exactly have the Bolton team fired up to beat us to a pulp!

If somebody slates you like that then you're more than entitled to respond and defend yourself. Yeah... You twat. As long as you don't have a go at my ability to manage and coach football teams i'll let you off!

  13. Would make far more sense to call the programme "Selfish, useless, fuckwitt parents" rather than the one they went for as that is the cause of something like this!
  14. Tell them they can save all that time and money by using the 100% effective and simple method of giving up smoking. Its called "not putting a cigarette in your mouth ever again" and amazingly it always works. However it does require some will power, strength of character, willingness to suffer as you get withdrawal symptoms etc. but anyone who says they can't give up is talking complete and utter bollocks, they mean they won't give up because it isn't easy. I've known people who gave up, it was hard, they suffered for it but they did it by never picking another cig up and without patches, chewing gum or any of the other things. Though if they help then there's nowt wrong with using them.
  15. I agree, £17m is stupid money when it's more than Henry went for, but Bent has shown he scores goals in the prem for a very average side and in a better team playing regularly you'd expect him to hit 20+ goals which is worth alot of money.
  16. Papers won't give up shit stirring with Owen until either he publically says he's staying on TV, he leaves or he starts the season with us! I don't want to lose him at all but i'd rather take the £9m and buy a better striker than Smith if he went to manu!
  17. Imagine if we were still stuck with Fat Fred in control and Roeder as manager, we'd probably just have started thinking about looking at some players, obviously not fullbacks, but would delay it a bit longer whilst everyone went on holiday! Big Sam has already dumped a load of wasters, and is looking to get rid of Carr/Baba, has 3 through the door already and would have been 4 if Chelski hadn't wanted Haim and now we're looking at signing players from Barca! I think i must be on crack or something!
  18. Things really starting to move if this is all true, and as i've said before not only is getting in these players great in itself it all helps to convince Owen to stay here. Mind you what i saw of Big Sam on SSN earlier talking about Martins, when he went onto Owen he seemed sure he was staying.
  19. Well we normally sign players then injure them so how about we try and sign someone injured then hope he becomes fit? It could just be crazy enough to work!
  20. If we are talking about the Matrix soundtrack, look no further than Wake UP - Rage Against The Machine. QFT If you're wanting aggressive music for firing things up a bit you can't beat RATM. As somebody said though it would be nice to let the crowd build some atmosphere up, but unfortunately these days as Sima said, it would be silence.
  21. "Interest from those clubs is definitely flattering," Usually code for a player meaning, come and sign me!
  22. I'm hoping Emre is the sort of player who Big Sam revitalises and gets the best out of as he does have some ability. But i don't think he's shown that much in his time here so far, he hasn't scored enough goals, or directly set up enough and his set pieces have been terrible (even if Alex can't see that!). And as Isegrim said he can be wound up and lose his temper a bit too often. But i do think Big Sam can get alot more out of him than we've seen, and i also think he does work hard for the team like Parker did, but with potentially more skill and technique than Parker.
  23. Definitely no more Local Hero please. Far too laid back and tranquil-the exact opposite of what we should be trying to achieve at the start of the match. Agreed, I fucking hate that tune anyway, something far more rousing is required. You're thinking of some "Rocky" based tunes aren't you!!!
  24. Better than Emre...... Never mind Geremi, i think Ron Jeremy would be better than Emre from freekicks! With his 3rd limb ? Why not! Also he has good ball contol, can shoot on demand and is great in and around the box, we should sign him up!
  25. I think he likes to play central or right midfield but has filled in at RB for Chelsea like you say.
