  1. That'll learn him! Now he was a REAL wanker. To be fair as a person and player he seemed fine, just a bastard against us! As for Leeds, technichally they're only getting the kind of points deduction they should already have got, that they sneakilly avoided by going into administration after they were already relegated, but before it would affect the following season.
  2. Sounds like a good move, not a season long loan as we may need him at some point, but gets him valuable experience. As for it being in Scotland, people needent worry where a keeper is concerned in my opinion. Maybe its a lower standard than the prem etc. but a keeper will still get more than enough shots and crosses fired at them every game to test them out.
  3. Dennis Wise and Ken Bates getting screwed, always going to make me laugh!
  4. From a Hammers site: The proposed transfer of Kieron Dyer to the Boleyn is in doubt. Reports are suggesting that the deal to bring former Lee Bowyer sparring-partner Kieron Dyer to the Boleyn has stalled. Although announcements made earlier this week suggested that a fee had been agreed with Newcastle and that the move would go through once personal terms had been agreed, news agencies are now suggesting that there may be a problem between the clubs concerning the fee. More on this as it comes in....
  5. I don't think he's making excuses at all, though if it helps lower expectations so much the better. The fact is he's built his reputation on expertise of sports science and fitnes/injuries alongside the expert staff that requires. And he's come in with that eye for thigns, watched our players as they go through all his tests and extra training regimes and seen them being far from up to scratch for what's required and he's quite rightly not happy about that. After all, its what all toon fans with any brains have been saying for years, that our fitness and coaching was shite, that we were ending up with too many injuries, that players couldn't last 90 mins etc. and over time Big Sam will address that, but for now he's stuck with the after effect of having two complete morons in charge of our players before him!
  6. Here's what Babelfish made of that Spanish link!!! For want of small flecos, Villarreal CF and the Newcastle United FC have reached an agreement from crossing by the player Jose Enrique Sanchez Diaz. The left lateral defense of 21 years had a successful passage in the Submarine - it arrived coming from the Valencia -, where it blunted as soccer player and it demonstrated to have a great professional projection. In fact, a place between los'fijos' of the Sub-20 and Spanish Sub-21 gained, leaving the doors opened to the absolute selection facing the future. The yellow organization thanks for to Jose Enrique by its participation in the club and it wishes much luck him in his soccer race.
  7. Seconded... Someone who is sadly missed around here and always posts it as it is.... Thirded! I'm quite happy to have Smith here, i think somebody with his attitude and charcteristics will be good for our team and i'm sure he'll fit well into the kind of formations and tactics Big Sam has planned. Getting the likes of him and Barton in will give us a big kick up the arse and we'll see alot less of our team giving up and getting out fought all the time.
  8. He's on form today. It must be interesting to live in this bizarro world than old Anal inhabits in his mind where people get straight onto the phone desperate to speak to him about anything important and where he also probably thinks he's a talented journalist and fans favourite!
  9. My favourite all time toon player and he'd be worth an absolute fortune. However if he'd been continetal instead of English he'd have really had people acknowledging him as the legend he is and he'd have got more caps for his country than he did.
  10. I think he may get a little bit of stick from opposition fans and players! I know if i was marking him, he'd get 90 mins of comments on it to see if he cracks! But like you say, not much can be done as some club or other was always going to take him as he'd be free and is a proven goal scorer, which is what every team wants.
  11. There was some laughing at the cinema when i went to see transformers. They'd just shown the trailer for that Bratz film, which obviously looked like complete and utter mind numbing shite for kids, when a bloke at the top of his voice just exclaimed: "Kill me now!" Got a good laugh from people! The trailer that followed him saying that was for 'St. Trinians' i bet he was ecstatic!
  12. When you think about it, we all thought our squad was too thin and so far we have shipped out 5 and sold Dyer + Parker, and brought in 4 + probably 2 more in the next day or so. So are still one down on the already thin squad! However we have brought in better then we got rid of and you have to add in the likes of Owen, Ameobi, Luque and Zog who because of injuries, bad management/bad attitude etc. weren't really much use last season but who hopefully will play a big part this time round. I really would love to see 2 fullbacks, another CB and another midfilder come in though!
  13. I think we'll definitely see some different formations and lineup, with different gameplans for different opposition and situations, which will be something entirely new at NUFC. But i'd have no idea what lne up he'll be looking at, and it'll be a few weeks before he probalby has most of them fit to pick from with all the bastard injuries we have! One thing with signings like Barton and Smith we are moving away from being a team of shrinking violets/complete tarts who are too nice and jut roll over for teams, and looking to players who won't stand for that. Even someone like Viduka who isn't particularly a hardnut but he does have plenty of weight to chuck about!
  14. Said he'll be replaced tomorrow no less! That was actually a pretty good post-match interview: - Minimum of 3, maximum of 4 players needed - We are strong in every area but defence - Problems over signings have been the lack of European football - the quality of player he's been looking at wanted Europe and could get it elsewhere - No problems with not getting money ("Everything's fine"). Him and Mort are working together on the signings that need to be made and they hope to "win the battle because it needs to be won". For those that missed it. Excellent stuff! If we had to have problems signing players then best it was that we weren't in europe and not lack of cash, the club itself or the manager, and i always thought it'd be europe as Sam has shown he can attract players to Bolton and as a club we always manage to pull off some decent signings. Interesting that he said Dyer will be replaced tomorrow, thats quite definite!
  15. Hopefully Big Sam will be getting and idea of the players who really shouldn't be anywhere near premiership football! Ginger people? Seems to be the case! Although Butt is ok, so he's the exception that proves the rule!
  16. Hopefully Big Sam will be getting and idea of the players who really shouldn't be anywhere near premiership football!
  17. If it does go through i reckon we've probably accepted around £5m in the end after rejecting about £4m, or at best a deal that ends up at a good price with ad ons for appearanes etc. Or as Ritchie says, he may fail a medical and be stuck here! Now i would have been happy enough with that as i think he is over most of his injury prolems and it'll probably be his best season in a long while, but unfortunately after whats happened with the fans recently, and him being booed at the end of last season, he doesn't wnat to be here so we probably wouldn't see the best of him.
  18. They've still got the right idea though if that's the case. Definitely, if players are going to end up with obscene wages, and there's not much chance of stopping that, then alot of it should be in the form of bonuses, where they've actually done something.
  19. I have to say, back when he first got the thigh injury and they thought he'd maybe be back for Celtic and definitely for Juve, i was deep down awaiting the words: "But the injury is taking longer than at first thought" or something similar. Its just the sort of shit that happens to this club. Luckilly i think Martins will be in good form to start the season as he's been looking quite lively and Viduka should be up to speed as he's been playing competitive football.
  20. If (in addition to the much needed defenders) we are going to go for a more attacking replacement for Dyer than an out and out midfielder then Gudjohnsen over Smith is an absolute no brainer for me. But then i don't think we have neccesarilly been after SMith at all, certainly nobody at the club has indicated as such.
  21. If we had a £35m p/w cap then i can't imagine quite how many millions we'd be saving! Most of our first team would be on molre than that i'd bet.
  22. Uh no it wasn't, it was described as "a complete and utter fabrication" you complete cock end. Basically that story is just a copy of what appeared in The Times yesterday, it'll be interesting to see if Oliver remains in his job now that he has nothing to worth writing about, his links with the club are the only reason I could see for keeping him and now that they're gone what exactly can he offer? Jesus, Oliver is such a cnut! Big Sam has called him on his complete bullshit publically and he still can't admit it! And then to finish off with he says we'll accept £10m for Martins, the get out clause is £13m you fuckwitt!!!
  23. One aspect that I've thought of is that Ashley and Mort may be suffering a bit from "Gullit syndrome" - by this I mean they have no real sense of how desperate a lot of fans are for daily news and moreover how "important" the club is to people. Sound bites about passionate fans are one thing but I think in the end Gullit was shocked by how deep this attitude and need for "news" was/is. Of course Shepherd at least did know this but went too far on too many occasions. True, such is the obsession up here that in its own way, saying nothing leads certain sections of our support to mad speculation and believeing any old shite they see in the press. The balance is avoiding Fat Freds publicity seeking and often idiotic and embarassing outbursts, but whether from Big Sam or Mort a regular supply of information when pertinent to keep the fans from going on what crap the cockney media or our very own shit stirrer Anal Oliver are coming out with.
  24. Don't know if its exactly true, but as he's a good business man i agree with you that he wouldn't come out with Fat Fred like stupidity telling everone what's happening, and as you say raising prices. I think suffienect funds will be there for Big Sam to at least bring in a LB and a CB and good ones at that. But i agree, this adminisration unlike the previous fat moron don't just love the sound of their own voives and feeling important. There's no way this lot would allow what happened with say Bellamy where the manager and chairman systematically ransacked his character and playing ability and told everyone we were desperate to sell, thus halving his value! Now we'd see the Fergie style talking up of anyone you're looking to sell and not getting rid on the chepa, ie as we're doing with Dyer.
