  3. Lol frogs - Lol Krauts - World Cup starting to get enjoyable
  4. Personally I draw a distinction between the British Army and vicious terrorist organisations like the Provisional IRA or UDA. You can't expect standards of behaviour from the latter because they're illegal criminal organisations. You can and should expect it from a sovereign army on peacekeeping duties amongst its own citizens. Unless of course the British Army is viewed as a terrorist organisation in its own right, which Irish rebels have said for years. I dont get how so many are missing this point.
  5. I know my stuff the same old teams, Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Italy are the teams to beat. Despite the usual hype [or hope] around England, these teams are always the teams that are there at the death. Has any team won 2 consecutive World Cups, in recent memory anyway ? As for Spain, only 2 countries have won the European Championship and World Cup ie Germany 1972/74, and more recently France. Aye, me and you have seen enough World Cups to know whats coming. I always enjoy the ride though
  6. My tips to win it are up. Come on the Azzuri
  7. Well without getting to side tracked down this route..Sir Alan Budd, all over the news today, economist appointed by George Osbourne to give economic forecasts. I appreciate economists dont make decisions in government and I dont recall saying they did. Your last point with regard to objective advice is entirely wrong, for The Tories The whole reason the office for budgetary control was set up was to prevent chancellors (such as Brown and Darling) fiddling the growth figures. Labour fiddling the figures eh?? I know who I think is lying at the moment http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/st...st_downgra.html Im not sure what your point is? I have said and it is a fact aswell that all parties had plans to reduce the debt by Big Cuts in public spending and tax rises. Sorry if Im missing the point of your post . Ill make it simple for you. You accused Labour of fiddling the figures. I then quoted the very economist you mentioned who confirmed that they werent.
  8. WASHINGTON — The United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials. The previously unknown deposits — including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium — are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe. An internal Pentagon memo, for example, states that Afghanistan could become the “Saudi Arabia of lithium,” a key raw material in the manufacture of batteries for laptops and BlackBerrys. full article here http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/14/world/as...als.html?emc=na

  10. Sometimes the need to shuffle brings suprises. All good. Frosty etc.. Now we are fucked
  11. more shame than you probably Definition of Shame "Theres no money left" --- Liam Byrne, Labour Treasury Minister --- 17th May 2010 Definition of Tory. No sense of humour
  12. Absolutely the wrong thing to do. That money could hardly be better directed. Disgusting. Anyone remember what school dinners were like under Thatcher? Wummery at its best Gentlemen, well done Not wummery at all. Certainly not on my part. My brother is a low income, stay at home, single father of an under five year old without IS or JSA. This is going to cost him a bomb. Does he not fit into this bit then? Jolly well done CT. I dont see any way HF can defeat your argument there
  13. I heard Bridgit bigged up on 5live for her performance at PMQs today. I wonder if I should have a cheeky tenner on her to be next but one leader of the Labour Party
  14. Of course Joe Public himself has to shoulder some blame for revelling in the credit provided by that deregulation. As I've said before if Brown had at any time said "I'm going to massively limit personal credit and lending" he would have been crucified. Thats the difference between strong rulers and weak ones. I was talking to one of my daughters about this sort of thing recently and explained that less than 20 years ago, if I went overdrawn (a common occurence), my presence was requested at the bank for a very tough talking too, an explaination and a promise to bank more responsibly. A loan was not easy to get. Compare that with two years ago when I could happily sit at my computer and get loans of upto 30,000 with 2 minutes typing. No checks, nothing. I hope controls are brought in so that consumer credit does become a lot harder to get, permanently. Lets be honest the global corporations and the banks, not forgetting the all important markets have got so much power these days that any government is fairly limited in what they can do
  15. Getting taxi drivers to declare their earnings would be good n'arl. I think the likes of BP and big business would be on the radar, before your average taxi driver, window cleaner or gardener allegedly pocketing a few tips etc. Deck out the bunting I agree with CT. Well nearly anyway. If we are all in it together, Mr Osborne, lets see the superrich paying a healthy chunk of tax for the next couple of years. And lets tax the fuck out of the banks
  16. Is this really a loophole though - I am pretty certain this is already illegal. Sounds like one of those things that is really cost inneficient to pursue aswell.
  17. This was really gets on my wick about the "new politics" they keep claiming. No acknowledgement of the problems caused by the banks, and the global recession that followed. Not only that they have "ring fenced" education and the "nhs" -so how can that be claimed to be irresponsible. I would also like to hear CT's response to Rentons question about the Osborne/Cameron response to the sub-prime crisis for your last point see above. With regard to the banks bit your wasting your time. Every newly elected government blames the last government for everything including the weather. That's just politics I'm afraid. It's like labour blames everything to do with manufacturing decline on Thatcher and not the fact that countries like china could build ships for a tenth of the price of the Uk. With regard to the ringfencing, it is only frontline jobs they have said will be ringfenced in nhs and education, it is the middle managers they are going for. This is why I get a little peeved that Labour and to a lesser extent the other two, didn't get into this before the election. If they had then voters would have had a selection of cuts to vote for. Having said that they would probably roughly be going for the same areas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/nickrobinson/20...chancellor.html
