  1. It is not the second time she has been caught; it is the second trial for the same wrongdoing because the first was thrown out due to improper jury instructions. Those damages are staggering.
  2. The Honduran fans always turn out in droves to support their team. Here, Mexico, wherever. Soldier Field looked like a sea of blue and white an hour before kickoff, but when the game finally started, it was closer to 60-40.
  3. I do hope so. Portland's turf is absolutely abysmal. It's not even the newer, nicer, turf; it's the old crap (unless they've done anything to it since I was there?) the portland fans deserve better, but at least there isn't a permanent gridiron on it.
  4. tbh, that might be for the best. Losing in the playoffs in 1990 saved us from immediately becoming a yoyo club, and I would hate for us to turn into such a club now--more hellish IYAM than simply stagnating in the Championship for a year or two undergoing "restructuring." We don't need to challenge for the title immediately upon promotion (When/if it happens;) we need simply to aim for a solid top-half finish.
  5. Oddly enough, I'm not feeling numb, I'm not feeling angry, barely even sad (although I'm sure that will come later, I'm sure.) I think I just sort of resigned myself to the fact that relegation was a certainty, and although I secretly held out hope (especially after the Middlesboro game) I think the expectation might have softened the blow. Fact is we got precisely what our performances deserved. From the owner playing games and not investing, being stubborn by not admitting his error(s), through the managers (4! FFS!) and the players who clearly couldn't give a flying fuck most of the time to the fans who believed that they had the power to do diddly-shit about the owner, staging protests that were utterly pointless and did nothing but sap an already low morale around the club of anything positive in (an understandable but) utterly pointless act of venting. (I was guilty of this as much as most, I'm sure, (to the extent that I was able over here...)) No, I'm not sure if it will hit me more later or what, but I frankly feel that the way we played, where one single solitary fucking own goal off the keepers ass that barely crossed the line in either of our last two games would have kept us up, we simply don't deserve to have been saved at the last moment. I'm not happy we're being relegated, I won't be able to get news about the club for the next year at least, won't be able to watch a single match until (if?) we win promotion back, and I'll have to put up with the ridiculous superiority of the fans of Man U and Chelsea around here, (luckily I don't know a single Sunderland supporter in the area anymore--last one was clearly a mackem, missing three front teeth and an accent so thick I'm shocked anyone around here could understand him, but he fucked off to warmer climes a couple of years ago). But I'm not going to be going anywhere, and I doubt anyone else on this board will be doing so. I'll do what I have to do to keep up on the club (I shan't call it a team as it's not been since ages ago) through the championship, relying sadly much more on this board for news than is likely healthy but I will still wear my stripes proudly and when the several people who will ask me what "EPL" team I'll follow now I will be telling them that I couldn't care who does what in the premier league until Newcastle are promoted again. Bah; I think I've managed to work myself into realization now and I'm gonna go get a couple (dozen) beers in me -- at 4:15.
  6. The reason the US will get it again soon is the simple fact that FIFA is full of money grubbing bastards. USA94 grossed more than France 98 or Japorea 2002 despite only having 24 teams. I don't know if Germany '06 grossed more or not. Most people might "not care" (They care a lot mroe than you give them credit for; they'll watch the spectacle of a world cup, just not pay attention in between, much like the Olympics) but they'll still pay.
  7. The USA don't deserve anything. Mongrel race of people playing wank sports, come back when football is the number one sport. We're the sole reason you're not speaking German right now, tbh, so stfu, yflw.
  8. The US Bid committee put forward a list of over 70 stadia. I think the point is to show that there is a plethora (are a plethora?) of grounds that could host matches if needed, to show flexibility and ability to spread venues (and thus crowds) across the relatively small country (in England's case) or to keep travel relatively affordable in a large country (USA). It makes sense to me to list as many venues as possibly might be included in a bid such as this.
  9. No midfield to speak of, lack of organization at the back, constantly bailed out by one of the better keepers in the league, strikers playing like two islands trying to catch long clearances..... sound familiar? No wins, two draws, three losses, but only one home game so far.... (which was lost 3-2 on a 90th minute penalty.) Hopefully we can turn it around.
  10. Bore draw Both sides lacking in invention and nervy, becoming more and more desperate as the game goes on, but both sides lack the quality to finish any of the half-chances created.
  11. Huge match.... worried about it all weekend, and can't even listen to the damn thing over here! Trying to put it out of my mind so that I can do my work and it's not working...
  12. Toronto have been better (hard for them to have been worse) since his arrival, but their defense has been absolutely abysmal. Sound familiar?
  13. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives...head-coach.html Rumors have been around for a long time that if/when Shearer became NUFC manager John Carver would leave TFC. Shearer's now manager and Carver has announced his resignation... Thoughts?
  14. My stream isn't working at all. Jumps every second or so. Gonna sign off and watch it on the TiVo when I get home...... tomorrow.
  15. I still don't know how I feel about this overall, except that I'm glad my avatar is more timely again.
  16. What a joke this season has become. Regardless of how this turns out, it's impossible to take things seriously anymore; if you do, you start thinking about slitting your wrists. I hope it works out; it just seems that everything is done at this club on impulse/spur of the moment racing from one emergency to another......... I suppose supporting a club which mirrors my life makes sense though. what's the general 'real life' equivalent of relegation?
  17. If he loved it so much why did he try to walk out on the club and go to West Ham?
  18. Bah. Guess I'm not as up on the boards as I used to be back in the day when only Alex and Camil posted more than I did. Meenzer.

  20. I tend to like classic, simple designs. This might be taking it a bit too far, but nevertheless as long as it's simple, I think it's hard to complain too much. If you think it's too plain, then don't buy it, but it's better than it being horribly garrish. I quite like the old-school look of the numbers. I'll like it even more if they leave off the player names. It looks good on American Football, Baseball and Basketball jerseys (I can call those shirts 'jerseys' ) but I think that a "classic look" football shirt should be without names. Edit: I think some of what looks bad about it is how high on the chest the crest appears. If it's a little lower, I think the shirt will look a lot better. It could be also that Terry seems to be arching his back a bit in the picture... Big smile, tits out?
