  1. Funnily enough he's not stropping. It's just getting on me tits when I don't realise it's him who's suggested something and you haven't dismissed or confirmed it. Especially now he's taken on your avatar
  2. Can't say any of them stick in my mind. Mind you I'm begining to think there might be something in the suggestion that drugs fuck up your memory!
  3. Aye clearly he'd be our main set piece taker if he was fit and worth a place in the team (I have doubts about whether either will ever happen now mind). He's not as good as some seem to think because of his strikes against the tramps but he's much better than anyone else we have.
  4. Without any control though unfortunately.
  5. Ex Machina. It felt a bit like an episode of Black Mirror (possibly just because it had Domhnall Gleeson in who was in an episode of Black Mirror where he played an artificial intelligence) but I enjoyed it. Gleeson and Isaac are both good and the ending was quite twisty (although one of the twists I think was supposed to be blatently obvious).
  6. To take things slightly off track here, this is (imo) exactly why, despite our much lauded chief scout, we keep signings players who don't seem to do much here(Anita, Haidara, Mbiwa etc). There seems to be little consideration of what is needed, instead we just sign players we think we can make money on. Of course that won't work if they don't come here and play well. Back on topic, I don't think we've got anyone at the club who has anything like the ability on set pieces of Nobby, Robert or Shearer. Colback would be the one I'd be looking to (maybe SDJ if we ever get him on the pitch) if we are wanting to have shots. But I'd like to hope now Pardew is gone we'd put some effort into set plays (but with the same coaching staff I'm not confident).
  7. Was hoping for a bit better when they announced it yesterday but I'm going to try and get tickets for the Friday. Mogwai are a favourite of mine in particular and Interpol's early stuff is excellent.
  8. "Everybody on the outside is talking about our season petering away but I am not going to allow that to happen. "Those who are saying that don't know me, don't know the people around me and don't know this group of players. We're much more professional than that." So the anyone who thinks this season will peter away doesn't know the people involved? You mean the same people who let the season peter away last year John? Aye nice one you fucking mug!
  9. It is interesting that the one bloke we've been told that we spoke to, seems now one of the least likely to come. Is this the press putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 5 or are we just waiting for him in the summer?
  10. I see Dave Watson's helping out with the first team now too. Have the juniors been doing anything of note during his time with them?
  11. Fish can you unblock CSD so we know if his answers are right or wrong.
  12. Has anyone at the club mentioned any potential candidate at all? If not why should we give any less credence to Bruce (who's probably more akin to previous appointment than the others we are hoping for) than the others? Charnley (as I said yesterday) has been in charge while we seem to have completely fucked up with Darlow. He's openly admitted we had no contingency in place for if we needed a new manager. He's been in charge while we fucked about with the deal for Mbiwa so we didn't have time in the summer to replace him and he's failled to replace him in this window when we've lost another player in that position to injury. I take all of this as him being shite at his job. But then again no one in the right mind would have appointed someone of his experience into such a role if they gave a fuck about wanting the best man for the job. We can agree that the appointments of at least Kinnear (twice), Shearer, Keegan and Pardew were shit (for varying reasons) can't we?
  13. To be honest there's at least as much about the current situation that suggests we'll appoint someone shit as there is suggesting we'll appoint someone decent. In the shite camp there's the fact the Ashley's managerial (and you can include Cheif Exec and DOF in with that) appointments so far have been shite. The fact that Carver has an awful record as a manager yet has been put in charge for the rest of the season. There's also the suggestion that the likes of Bruce have been amongst the favourites (yes he ruled himself out immediately but he's most likely available in the summer. Who's to say it's not him we're waiting for?). On the positive there's the suggestion that we've been linked to the likes of Garde, FDB, Tuchel, Gaultier which suggests we're looking at a more progressive type of foreign coach. There's the suggestion that we went as far as speaking to Garde and the fact that we haven't just appointed a stop gap suggests that we might actually be taking our time and waiting for the right man to become available (of course if this is the case then we are gambling that Carver can keep us in the league so that we're still an attractive option for this person come the summer). It seems to me that those of us who aren't in the positive camp have a bit more fact in our corner than you in the positive camp do. I don't blame you for trying to be positive, that's what football's all about. But personally I've been shat on enough from the fat cunt that I'm going to need something a lot more substantial before I can be positive about this situation.
  14. Just because we may have met with him with the intention of discussing the role seriously, doesn't mean the discussions came to anything. Just because he appeared to be a good fit, doesn't mean that when we laid out the constraints he would be working under, he didn't say thanks but no thanks. If that's was the case then the others (however well fitting they may look on paper) may in reality be just as impossible as those who I mentioned for effect. The point I was getting at was that trophyshy wasn't being irrational for saying that while we may have sounded these guys out, they may have all told us they weren't interested. If that's the case we either have to revise our ideas of what the job is or who would take it. If it's the latter than Carver might have been a reasonable choice. Personally I do believe that there is a realistic possibility of getting these guys for exactly the reasons you've said. But that doesn't mean it's not sensible to have concerns.
  15. It may be another issue but it's certainly a reason why we have no confidence whatsoever in our overlords ability or interest in appointing anyone who we (the people who actually care about what go's on on the field) can think positively about. But no one (not even Kevin Carr in his addmittedly over the top prediction) said that relegation was a certainty. It clearly is a real threat though. We manged 10 league wins in 2014 (or about that after Cabaye was sold) with a clown in charge of running the team. Now we arguably have someone with less ability leading the team so is it reasonable to have no concerns that we will end the season in a similar fashion to last season? If we do relegation will be very close. And to say that we will all crow about it if it does happen is ridiculous. If we do go down I will be rightly fuming at Ashley, Penfold et al but I certainly won't be digging through all of your posts in this thread in some petty attempt to score points.
  16. I think there are two points here. 1. Did we actually meet with any of these people? It seems likely that we did meet with Garde given his own comments but has there even been any press suggestions that we have met with any of the other names linked? 2. Did we meet with the likes of Garde because he looked suitable and then find out that he wouldn't submit to Ashley's law? If so we could meet with Jose, Sir Alex, KK or whoever and know that there's no chance of them coming in anyway.
  17. The amateur tag was aimed at Penfold rather than Carver but honestly Carver isn't much better. His antics at Southampton and in the past with Bellamy could hardly be called professional could they? But more importantly his experience is a few games as caretaker of us, Leeds and Sheff Utd and one season in the MLS where he managed 12 wins before being sacked (of course 12 wins would be brilliant for us at this stage like). But if you want to take positives that's fine (personally I don't see a great many in not appointing the head coach we need or signing the players we're desperate for to give the person we have put in charge a chance) but that doesn't mean myself, Gloom and many others are being hysterical in thinking relegation is a serious threat and that the club being run with no consideration to having any sort of sporting ambition.
  18. No sign of Aarons playing there.
