  1. Radio Newcastle 95.4 bud You get to many of their games like well, the lengths I go too to watch a toon player! mainly the U19 tournament on Eurosport over the summer! Plays LM, CM and STR doesnt he? Thought upfront was his prefered role? I’ve only seen him play the LM/CM role, seems a strong box to box player, reminded me of Gary Speed but bigger. For Slovenia U19s, he was one of the few players who didn’t give the ball away unnecessarily and was more physical then the others even though he was 2-3 years younger. Confident enough to take shots from outside the box. Looks ‘a player’ without being a fancy dan. Think i read an interview with him and he sees himself as an attacking and goal scoring midfielder but also happy playing off a striker up front, and it sounds like potentially he will have the ability to play both those roles. Where could i find this article fella?

  7. I understand what you and Geordie Lad are saying but I guarantee that if we are back in the top flight next season a lot of people will still not want to take the cup competitions seriously as no doubt they will then be saying survival is the priority and so it goes on. For me the excitement of a cup game (particularly the FA Cup) beats the league games any day but if we and most other teams don't it seriously then it will soon be a thing of the past I know where your coming from bud, its a welcome break from league football and provides us with a "more realistic" chance of silverwear. However i truely beleive that once back in the PL it will again become a "serious" challenge to do well in the cups providing we have a big and strong enough squad to cope with the games without damaging our chances of survivol and progression in the league. The cups are always important to us geordie's just this season it has to go on the back burner imo.
  8. Good stuff! the more the merrier! More games for us unemployed to be able to watch! haha Isnt the Ipswich game on BBC2 on sat too?

I would like to see him given a start tonight along with Kadar, Lua-Lua and Donaldson. And maybe Inman and Baheng off the bench. sold in the next transfer window more like if MA is still around! Certainly a possibility after the Bassong deal. And with the likes of AC Milan and Real supposedly wanting him before we got him it could be hard to fight them off. Fingers crossed though.

    Jobs...

Think he might have thought of that like. Blatently. One of many shite websites. This is pretty decent like been on here for a while but after ALOT of applications and very little responce it is kinda dissheartening. True. Been there and done that a few years ago. These companys shaft you left right and centre. Then theres the added joy of doing your own tax's. I'd take pretty much anything at the minute, just doesnt seem to be alot about unless you have a trade or a profession and even then it difficult to find anything suitable. Gotta keep on keepin on i suppose something will turn up. If anyone hear's anything im sure Tom, J2J and myself would be grateful!
  13. Agreed but would be a very raw back line. Suicide maybe. Raylor---Tozer---Kadar---Tavernier

  16. Really? do expand. I might be wrong but there seems to be more uniform guidelines about what should constitute a red card or a booking and all the decisions made are increasingly coming under more and more scrutiny. I've never actually heard it suggested before that refs have more discretion to employ commonsense or whatever you want to call it than used to be the case. What did you have in mind? I think you see alot more "playing on" this season which isnt a bad thing when used in moderation but refs seem to use it to their descretion now or to hide away from making BIG decisions. If theres a foul...blow up unless it is imidst a passage of play where the attacking team have a CLEAR advantage not just to see where the ball goes. Shirt pulling, challenging the keeper and so on are decisions that should be stone walled not down to the descretion of the ref...either its a foul or it isnt.

Alrite lads... Iv only just moved back from Dublin last week and im struggling to find ANY kind of work. Anyone heard of or have any jobs going? Manual labour, factory work, callcentre....anything to get me some £££ for the games? Any helps appreciated. Thanks
  18. Just read that Carroll, Enrique and Colo are all carrying knocks are wont be in the squad. That being said i think we mite just see that young lad Tavernier tonight, him or Tozer. I think Hughton will go for something not too disimilar to this... ---Krul--- ---Raylor---Saylor---Kadar/Tozer---Taverner/Kadar--- ---Geremi---Butt---Barton---Lua-Lua--- ----Ranger---Vuckic----
  19. I agree that Guthrie and Barton are probably our best 2 central midfielders but do you think if we played them together in the middle we would have as much protection for the back four as we do with Alan Smith? I think Smith being in there is why we have conceded so few. No but it's a judgement call because the counter argument is we'll cause more problems for the opposition with Guthrie and Barton in the middle. It's working so far with Smith in there though plus Barton shouldn't be appeased to the detriment of players who've shown a better attitude I suppose. I see your point. We will be more of a force going forward but on the flipside we would be more exposed at the back and bigger wholes left in the middle pulling players out of position. Iv always favoured one sit and one go in centre midfield, more stable and more balanced. If we were to play 2 attack minded central midfielders we would be over-run by the workmen in this league. We all want to see the "entertainers" but we dont have a watertight backline, although they do look more knitted this season. I think people get a bit into the mindset of one attacking midfielder and one defensive midfielder when in reality that's rarely how teams playing 4-4-2 are set up. Barton and, to a lesser extent, Guthrie have the legs to get up and down in this league no problem at all imo. Smith does a good job sitting there though and is one of the main reasons we're looking fairly solid at the back. But you do alex...Essien - Lampard is a perfect example. Neither are totally defensive or offensive but they dont have the same role's. Essien is box to box but is more defensive and covers more ground, breaks up play. Lampard is box to box but limits his coverage and is more attack minded. You cant have 2 central midfielders doing the same job although both can be box to box.
  20. Aimed at Parky. Hardly revolutionary thinking, is it? I know. Just picking up on it though alex, no its not revolutionary but thats what makes it so sad. We all know that these simple changes/additions would better the game but still year after year we see nothing apart from over-complicated and unnessecary changes to the offside ruling and referee's given more scope to use there own descretion, which in one sence is a good thing, lets the game flow but on the other hand takes away from decisions which could be stone wallers not being giving to balance things out.
