Aye i agree its a commercial money spinner but so what? Isnt the idea of it good? I think its pretty cool having one day a year where you both go that little bit further to make someone feel special. I say that little bit further because isnt showing it everyday more important.

Class!! Stevie? Surely thats racist?

Would you not say that the only positive coming from MA tenure is that we now actually have one of the better financial situations in the country? I dont mean in terms of bank balance but in little debts and infrastucture? The only positive that appears good in LardAh's favour is that the banks or Customs aren't holding a knive to our throat. However, all that debt hasn't gone away. He wants every penny back, which, I suppose, he is entitled to expect. Fair enough! What i mean is if and when a buyer comes in and should they takeover...we would effectively be debt free rite?

That's the story I heard. Half-time during the Everton game at the end of season before last. Thats rite and didnt he have a go at Martins and N'Zogbia before the Watford game too?

What a load of bollocks. But then you do rate Caçapa as the best centre half in our history don't you, so I shouldn't be too surprised. Speaking of top centre halves, can I just throw in that letting Faye go to stoke was a tragedy. One of their top performers week in week out playing centre half. A snip at 1M. I could never figure that one out. He was a good CB and £1m was nothing money. I wonder if there is more to that transfer than we know about? I think he wanted to move further South? Something like that. Didnt he chin N'Zogbia? As for Carroll...imo the boy has massive potential, he needs a regular partner upfront with pace and good movement and service from midfield...just like any striker does! He is good with the ball at his feet, brilliant in the air and has showed on a number of occasions this season he is a pretty good finisher too. HE NEEDS SERVICE.

Tbh looking at that pic thats not a fuckin pummelling unless this "rugby" built lad had sponge hands! Id of done more damage that that!

Pretty much spot on imo. We all know that one of two things needs to happen if we are going to start getting anywhere near where we were in 2003. Either Mike Ashley has to take a leap of faith and break his business model, which would mean not throwing money about but putting a realistic and flexible transfer and wage policy in place, one which would allow us to bring in quality players to improve and start building again. Also we need to drop this idea of buy now and sell later...players we bring in need to be here for a long time if we are going to challange. That or a buyer comes in with a substantial amount of money to invest in the team in the summer...this is more likely but the next owner could be just like MA or worse...we need a little luck and boy are we due some! A club of our size, might and tradition should not be wollowing in the CCC nor should it be settling for the standards we are setting now...all we can do is hope that there is someone out there who will revive the sleeping giant...a giant who even for the good spells in the 90's and again in the early 2000's imo has never truely woken up. Geordie Lad is back!

Aye Happy 21st Mate!! You doing owt for it? Oh and if your in a good mood could ya change my username back now cheers

I wouldn't say so. I don't think you could coach players like Smith and Nolan to do that as it's just not in their game. Your right...you either have it or you dont...smith can pass just of late hasnt been at the races...Nolan however an awful passer. Guthrie should be encouraged to stay central, play higher up the pitch and really focus on through balls and spreading it outwide. Routledge seems to have an eye for a pass, noticed a few times him playing a couple of clever balls through the defence...just not put on the ball enough to maximise it!
-
Van Aanholt...Short term loan im happy with...very green though. Hall...6 month loan...Lokks strong and composed...good cover. Williamson...3 year? Looks pretty good...good cover for CCC yet to be seen if he will be as good in PL Routledge...3 year? Happy with this deal, looks a good player but REALLY needs to be encouraged to get chalk on his boots more. Best...3 year deal...looks like he works hard and is strong...OK Simpson..3 year? Solid defensively would like to see him improve going forward. All in all i dont think theres is one bad signing but non are outstanding.

How long have we being saying that for! Sousa would be a good shout to replace Hughton IF we go up maybe.

The thing is... The key to success isnt just about having ability in our squad it is consistency...consistency in team selection, consistency on tactics and consistency in attitude. We have an OK squad, a squad that SHOULD really being battering this league BUT we dont have the quality in the backroom staff to provide the consistency we need. The blame for me falls at Hughtons feet. Negative Negative Negative. Regardless of who we are playing, home or away we should be going all out to win each and every game...not to soak up the pressure and hope to get lucky...his tactis are gash...the football is gash and in turn our performances on the whole have been gash too. You can see and hear in Hughtons personality when he speaks he's a fuckin wimp of a man.

you've got to admit that getting a spawny point at a top 6 side despite playing crap is a 'right result' as the cockanees would say. forest have lost at donny so what's the problem ?? coventry and preston to come - 6 points and a boost to the gd - what could be better ? I admire your optimism and for much of the season i kinda secretely agreed in a way but come on mate look at our form from december...not the form of league champions is it? Im normally an optimistic guy but atm im finding it hard to even be slightly optimistic. The homes games are going to be high pressure games...we could fuck up again tbh. the 'problem' with your logic is this. promotion will be achieved just by winning the remaining home games - all the away games could be drawn or lost and it still won't alter the fact that promotion cannot fail to be achieved. like nearly all teams that have come to SJP this season, they are beaten before they start - they walk out on the pitch, look up at the stands and the bottle goes. as long as 'fans' don't start giving the players a hard time at the first sign of a misplaced pass, probably every home game will yield 3 points. only forest and sheff utd to play out of the top 8 at home. lots of easy away games coming too, tho' Boro could be a problem. forest are having their wobble after a great run and who is to say they havent shot their bolt ? people need to get a grip - less than 2 weeks ago, Cardiff were being annihilated but that seems to be forgotten due to 2 below par performances away. still 100% convinced of promotion and title - no amount of abuse will make me change my stance. One good game doesnt confirm shit mate....we were poor before that game and been arguably even more poor after it. Your logic in theory should be good if we were a good side but we are not, far from it...yes we SHOULD win our home games and yes we SHOULD get at LEAST a draw away at most sides but it has shown that when our playing squad and more importantly our backroom staff (regarding good tactics) is not capable of consistency then we can not apply that logic.

This is what I wanted to ask. If your comment is a true reflection of the game i.e. the opposition huffed and puffed withouth creating much, isn't that a reflection of most of our season? I've only seen a handful of games, and the dross we served up with the opposition being actually worse was how it all seemed to be panning out. Swansea BATTERED us in terms of possesion and they did create more than us. By far and away the better team and deserved to beat us.
