I like all 4 of those efforts....especially the 1st two.

Joke this now, I play on a Monday myself and when we dont turn up automatic 10-0 defeat Its not good for the guys who have to travel a distance to get to games, but i think its a good thing personally as i cant afford to get to many games so the more on tv the merrier!

We could aye but dont you think that would be totally limiting our attacking options to just firing the ball outwide? Maybe its a good thing in a sense to actually encourage our wingers to get into the game but id much rather have a little bit more of an option through the middle with Guthrie. If we did play Nolan and Smith in the middle which i think is likely i can only see us scrapping in the middle and hitting them on the counter, which is all fine and well away from home but at home id prefer a more positive strategy.

This debate is futile....for all id like to see a new guy come in once we are promoted i doubt it will happen. Like it has been said, bringing a new new manager and backroom staff will cost a bomb and then a transfer kitty of at least 25mil. FMA isnt gonna do that when he knows he could get away with Hughton, another scrappy season, maybe just stay up in the PL all on a budget of about 10mil plus whatever we got from player sales.

Scott McDonald going to Boro is a good move for them...seen a bit of him when i was living in Glasgow, served him when i worked at USC and he's a bit of a knob like but in the games i've seen him at Park head he looks like a very good attacking midfielder! Shame we werent interested in him.

Thing is though it should be common sense to put that team out, it pretty much writes itself but for some reason Hughton keeps fucking the selections up. We can hope.

Important game on Friday, game in hand and a chance to go 7 points clear of Forest and 9 over WBA. Shola and Simpson expected to return to the squad. S.Taylor out. Barton back in training but not expected to make the squad. We are back at home after a shit performance against Leicester, this surely has to be a game we go all out to win it? The players and Hughton have alot to prove and we need a big confidence boost to kick on and get ourselves out of this really horrible spell. ---Harper--- ---Simpson---Williamson---Coloccini---Van Aanholt--- ---Routledge---Guthrie---Smith---Gutierrez--- ---Carroll---Best--- Subs: Krul, Hall, R.Taylor, Nolan, Lovenkrands, Shola, Ranger Fullbacks to overlap and feed the wingers, Smith to sit infront of the back four and chase everything and tackle hard, Guthrie to stay central, come deep to get the ball and spread it outwide and maybe have a go from distance and then the front two...Carroll as a target man and Best to run at defenders...both will rough it up a bit and both have abilty to get onto the end of things from outwide. Im confident about a win but how many times have i said that? Simple fact is THAT is the team that needs to start on Friday and that team NEEDS to go all out to batter Cardiff. Come on lads...about time we shook of the shit and started looking like a good team deserving to go up!

Pretty much agree, Nolan's goals will have played a massive part in promotion should we go up so i think he deserves credit for that, but as a midfielder the game just passes him by and in the prem he will be far worse. Smith has went right of the boil and is now becoming anoymous himself and good or bad in a match you don't expect Smith to just disappear from the game. Guthrie i always find hard to judge as he so clearly hates being out wide and is not suited to it at all, but he should have done better than he has, and as everyone on here and in St James knows, Butt was finished last season never mind this! So i'd say Nolan is bad, but if we go up his contribution will have actually been big simply because of the goals and little else. 100% Spot on! Id like to see Guthrie and Smith given 5 games together with Jonas and Rouledge on the wings...that midfield SHOULD create chance from out wide and through the middle. When Barton has returned to fitness id like to see him in there with Smith for a few games...we have a couple of options but for as long as hughton insists on accomodating the likes of Butt and Nolan we wont see any improvements in our performances.
