-
Good result in the end but im dissapointed we sat back and didnt push on for more...anyway job done and some good performances. Will Smithy ever score? haha poor lad
-
Why can we only play well for half an hour in a game? Come on boys mad step it up........NEVER HAPPY haha
-
Krul on for Harps...Harper with a back injury
-
Pleasing half although we did take our foot off the gas last 10 mins, Hughton will ave a few words of caution but i hope he's encouraging them more than anything to go on and hit these for 5 or 6!!
-
Leicester winning too...not fussed about WBA they always were expected to win but id like Scunthorpe to get an equaliser so the gap between us and 3rd would be 8 points....pressure off. Sounds like we are sitting back a bit
-
gonna be 6 i reckon now Always thought lovenkrands and harewood were class
-
Think thats the plan.....dont like it all the same! Why not start Pancake and Ranger?? Anyone with a radio link please?

I hear what your saying alex mate but i disagree... I think some of our players namely Nolan, Smith and Coloccini amongst others were suffering from a cripplingly low level of confidence and i think they as well of others will benefit greatly from this season. I could be totally wrong after all its just my opinion. Also i think we will end up bringin Simpson in on a permanent deal. Harper Simpson---Taylor---*Kilgannon---Enrique Kightly---Nolan---Smith---*Gutierrez Carroll---Shola I think that starting 11 would stay up....but its the squad that needs bolstering with able backups....Butt, Geremi, Lovenkrands wont cut it. *If we get him...if not then id hope that Coloccini can build on this season *Again i hope he can buil on this season, his running and energy are animportant weapon even if his final ball it gash....that said id be looking to get Joe Ledley as 1st choice Michael Kightly would be my number one target in the close season, quick, can beat his man and got a decent delivery on him too. That's a fucking shite first XI though in all honesty and it includes a player we have on load and two we haven't signed. It would either go down or just stay up. That's ignoring the fact that there's no cover. Alex what are you expecting mate? We have been relegated and our squad decimated....an owner with no money so what else can you expect? Im talkin about a team being good enough to stay up....not top half....stay up....a scrap.....no that side isnt great but its all we could hope for at best ffs EDIT: As for the squad alex i merely ment we have a basis to build on it is ok....and it is one who could scrap and stay up next season with a few shrewed additions
-
This... I can't see us being in anything but another bottom 6-7 scrap again next season if we go up, I don't have any hope in the club being sold or any sort of meaningful investment. I think were just in for another year of drama and everything else The Sun loves to print. I'd actually take that as well. Exactly...no matter what is spent or not spent anyone expecting otherwise deserves the "delusional" tag some get. A scrap next season at best is what we can expect, its all about us being able for that scrap......

With them in 4th place its a 6 pointer for us and a chance to open up some real ground between teams. Im going for another 3-0 win Carroll, Smith and Taylor Anyone know if Simpson and Raylor will be back?

They are Minus Bassong, Beye (doesn't get a game), Viduka(doesn't have a club), Owen(doesn't get a game), Martins (doesn't get a game) and Duff If we hadnt sold N'Zogbia, Given and Milner we wouldnt even be having this debate......lookin at who we lost it really does make you wonder how the fuck we were doing so shit before they left! Goes to show the 'quality' we had. So regardless of what they are doing for their clubs now are you saying that they arent quality? Your argument of not playing or no club well... Viduka is unfit and has been for years...still got it though Owen....Rooney and Berbatov....hmm wonder why Beye...Should be in the side, villa are doing shit Martins il not argue with I would call our squad poor. It would need significant improvement just to stay in the league. If we hoped to be anything other than in a relegation scrap I honestly think that Taylor, Harper and Carroll are the only three players that should start in the Premier, and that assumes Carroll plays alongside a pacy goalscorer. As much as I've been impressed by Enrique and Colo they were routinely found out in the PL. The same can be said of Smith and Nolan, the rest aren't good enough. Isnt that what i said? Harper, Taylor, Simpson, Enrique, Nolan and Carroll for sure...like i said before though Coloccini and Gutierrez could benefit from this season and become stronger next year...Same can be said for Smith too.

I agree with all of this, but aside from the managerial merry go round, the biggest reason in my humble opinion, is we had literally fuck all pace in the side, and it wasn't like Martins utilised his. You can't do anything in the Premiership without pace, if we don't sign two fast creative midfield players, and a pacey striker when we go up, we're fucked, I hope Hughton sees this as a key thing, because pace has ruined us, you can trace it back to Bellamy leaving, then Dyer, we need pace in that side it's as simple as that, or we're going straight back down. Even Wolves have pace. Yup i agree but.... Ashley wants more money for the club everyones knows that, hes trying to get us promoted on the cheap. Unfortunately he hasn't a clue about running a club/business/ or about football in general if we win this league comfortably he'll think we'll be good enough to scrape staying up in the premiership without further investment. We go up, we'll be for sale again, transfer embargo employed , valuation will be over the odds, no one will pay it and history repeats itself. Thats my worry! We can only hope that there is a few consortia in the background now monitoring our performance and waiting for FMA to put us up again...maybe in January but id imagine at the end of the season. When we go up, and if FMA doesnt sell or put at least 25mil into the transfer kitty, the latter being extremely unlikely, then we will almost certainly come straight back down after a season of being raped home and away but the undergrowth sides in the PL. All the knowledgable toon fans see it how it is, we have an ok squad, a decent basis to build on, but we need to do exactly that...BUILD Cover for both fullback positions, another centre-half, possibly 1 OR 2 wingers, and 15 goal a season striker with pace and most importantly a creative midfielder. Easily 25mil+ needed, and the only hope is a new consortia with good backing and a bit of football nouse and common sense coming in at the close season. We hope, we pray but in the mean time all we can do is keep on keepin on...

What he said... And once again Simple'Sima chelps in with his usuall bollox....man ur a bellend

Newcastle to complete transfer of Sheffield United ace
Deano replied to Craig's topic in Newcastle Forum
Always thought he looked decent, one of those who likes the ball at his feet but is strong and quick too. The mirrors valuation of 5mil is exactly that... the mirrors valuation when in reality he is probably worth 1.5mil tops as he is out of contract soon. I think getting him in is a very good move and imo if he was to be lined up as a replacement for anyone id think it would be coloccini, which although he has looked better this season, id be in favour of. An all english centreback pairing can only be good rite? Plus Kilgannon looked decent in the prem where as coloccini was gash. But....this is newcastle...just wait and see what happens. -
Well he is quick so maybe could beat his man but we'll have to wait and see what his delivery is like...when we go up its maybe worth a punt on Kightly and Ledley.
-
When we go up, if we are looking at Carroll being a regular upfront for us it is going to be massively important to find a winger or two who can consistently put the ball on his head if we are going to do well. The guy is brilliant in the air...what happened to playin to our strengths? For all Geremi is shit slow he is the only one in the club who can cross a ball. Not that im suggesting we play him or anything.
-
A great big fuckin oak could hold the ball up like he does........ Once he held the ball up he gave it away...mite be on my own here but he like lovenkrands are the two worst players for us this season.
-
because he is shit and i dont like the useless ugly fucker....problem?
-
Gritty away performance 1st half neither side done anything and it was sloppy. 2nd half we were a bit better, passing the ball about and Gutierrez for all he had a few gaff's was soo important in our win tonight. I've said it before but his runnin on the ball and his tenacity helps the defence no end, taking the ball out of defence and up the pitch relieves so much pressure on the back four and he done that well tonight. God knows why Harewood stayed on and Carroll went off, that fucker is useless! Harper...6 Nowt to do Simpson...6 Done well and looked to get forward Taylor...7 Solid.....Has he put on weight? Coloccini...7 Solid Enrique...7 Bullish and would of scored if his shot didnt hit nolan. Gutierrez...7 Worked hard albeit a bit sloppy at times Guthrie...5 Poor Smith...7 Captains performance, calm on the ball, broke up play and got stuck in Nolan...7 Non-entity all game but popped up with a crucial goal Carroll...6 Didnt do much, few good touch's but lacked service Harewood...3 Slow, shit touch, shit anticipation, shit engine...SHIT Happy with the result and the manner....wasnt a great footballing performance but im happy. Opened up some margines now and like its been said with a few very winnable home games and a continuation of this tenacious away form we will be sitting pretty happy come the new year!
-
4-5-1 then with nolan in behind carroll I quite like that team tbh....pancake off the bench 2nd half
-
Not sure if CH will toss him in tonight, he may get battered bye i'm off to Preston If he gets clearance he will be on the bench i think. Leaving it late arent you?
-
I think....1-2 Carroll and Nolan ---Harper--- --Simpson--Taylor---Coloccini--Enrique-- --Taylor--Nolan--Smith--Gutierrez-- --Harewood--Carroll-- Subs: Krul, Kadar, Geremi, Butt, Guthrie, Lovenkrands, Ranger Although i hope we get to see Pancake tonight.
