Simples Nobody knows if he's sub-standard though, it's all assumptions based on the fact that nobody knows who the fuck he is. He could be a good CCC player who goes on to be a steady back-up player for a couple of seasons in the Premier League. The only other CB we have is Kadar who, while he might have all the potential in the world, isn't a trusted option yet. This bloke has done it at Championship level before (by all accounts) so why be so bothered? If we do go up, worst case scenario is, he's a back-up for a few games and he might even be decent. I dont know why you keep mentioning about us signing players of a 'higher standard', we're not even going to be able to sign players of a 'higher standard' when we get promoted, never mind when we're a shit team in the Championship.
