I've had a few. Last years one was the one that shook me up the most. I think we'll have a generation of players again to compete, I don't know when but we will. Germany are no nearer to winning a major trophy than they were 6 years ago, 15 years ago they wouldn't have been heralded as a great kraut team, I don't care what anyone says. People can go on about these random younguns like they've seen every youth game they've ever played (thinking of no one in particular here ;-)) , but Brazil aren't Brazil, Argentina are Messi, global football is poor, and this England team is poor. 10th in the world is reflective of our population. Smaller than France, Italy, Germany, Russia, USA (who won't always be shite), Mexico, Brazil, these countries should be better than England, why should we produce better players than we have? I don't get it.

They were functional, they weren't shite. Shite is what England were, I'd say in comparison to the kraut expectations they were average. Klinsmann sat there before England v Italy saying the whole of Germany expects to win the final, it's just deluded. Any side that concedes two goal to an international team containing Samaras, needs work doing.

Where did I sidestep your point? Your point was Germany were the best side in the tournament to that point, where did I sidestep that point? Scrappy in all bar one half in the group games, functional against the Greeks, found out against Italy where they ran out of ideas. Your other point that I was out there with some of those, nearly everything I said had no better than a 1 in 3 chance of happening.

Had this conversation that Germany looked amazing with a few people. My only conclusion is a lot of people haven't got a clue about football. They were functional and that's it, they got their results without being amazing, and were well beaten off Italy as I thought they would be, and would have been against Spain. It's just a popular thing to say "you can't look far past the Germans", why not? Spain have a better player in nearly every position.
