  1. "Thierry Henry tops Keegan's wish list" How much per week would we have to pay Henry!! Just like going for Baggio!
  2. Warren Barton goes close to a fourth with a dipping first-time volley at St James', but it flies inches past the post. Four-nil would certainly have been harsh on Reading. From the BBC! LMFAO
  3. lovely confidence sapping defeat for Bolton!!!
  4. Bloody hell I live closer to home than I thought, I just plucked 18,000 out of the air to be honest, bloody hyperbole! I was thinking in km’s as well, still way off! I live in Mendoza, wine country next to the Andes and I have bloody amazing weather! The majority of Argentines are of the opinion that their government was vastly stupid with the Falklands, so much so that there is virtually no animosity. It’s strange that it is actually so historically close. La Bombanera is a shit pit but a very unique atmosphere, it’s like a decaying Loftus Road, slightly bigger with absolutely no clue about safety standards. The Maracana in Rio beats it though, I love the Brasilian supporters.
  5. Keegan is genuine and not a wanker which beats most of the managers at the club in the past, however his reasoning for being the right man for the job is odd for me. I understand why Ashley did it, attractive football, bums on seats, cash flow. Is it progress? Is he the best tactician? Was he the best manager we have seen here in the past 20 years? Bobby Robson turned a shit team to a respectable one very quickly when vastly more competitive than it was for Keegan. Keegan made some inspired transfers decisions in the 90's, so much so that I think that Beardsley was as instrumental as Keegan for our success. The transfer market has changed so much, he said it himself. If there really is a genuine attempt to grow the club inward investment then I will be delighted because it's the only way forward. There was very little to excuse the decision to scrap the reserves. The failure to produce any homegrown talent is probably more down to idiots like Shepard. The appointment of Wise was deeply worrying, he maybe a really great bloke away from his public persona, but christ!! Sorry this has already been discussed before no doubt...... At the end of the day i'm a shite supporter, If I sing/shout they don't hear me and I no longer pay any money to NUFC. I hope for all of you that genuinely support this club that we return to the good old days of attractive football, Monaco, Milan..........
  6. I have no idea why he got rid the reserves? does anyone?
  7. When Keegan was doing well (not great). Man United were losing to Galatasaray in the group stages of the champions league, batty and le saux fighting on the touchline against helsingborgs or some other random norwegian team. Carlton Palmer, Jason Lee.........But now the top 4 in the Champions League quarters etc etc. What an archaic club must we continue to support here. Keegan's reasoning for being the right person for the job is that he understands the city............bollocks! For a man who scrapped our reserves in the late 90's, what's gannin on?! It's all parochial nonsense. We need to get rid of this "special Newcastle crap". Oddly the only way i think is to produce more homegrown talent supported by more russians, eastern europeans, scots etc. All I ask now for is that the club stops trying to please the "Geordie Nation" as they seem to be impressed by names. It's all too depressing. I just want to want to watch good football. (I have to add I'm not a season ticket holder (I was), I live 18,000 miles away from SJP but still have to endure the bullshit)
  8. The ony way I could stomach this is if the final stages of the league cup were to be played abroad. I expect few of the fans of the big clubs would be too fussed about having to opt out of making the trip. I expect that the fans of the lower clubs that break into the finals would be pragmatic enough to recognise the earning potential for their club if it mean't an extra 5m into the clubs coffers plus the international recognition. How many people are delighted to see there national team play in world cups, be it half way across the world. just my 2 cents, yen etc.

    Torres

OK I retract the hyperbole, i'll get me coat

    Torres

I knew I was going to get a response like that. There was only one spot to hit to score. OK it wasn't a Van Basten scorcher etc. but name me a more clinical goal you have seen put away?

    Torres

OK this lad is class, just scored with one of the best finishes I have ever seen, great pass from Gerrard as well Scousers 1 Chelski 0
  12. Well based on inflation not performance maybe
  13. If Figo and Zidane were worth 40 odd million 13 million is peanuts for Deco (assuming Emre is worth no more than about 5m). He is getting old but has a good 4-5 years of top class football. He's got to be worth at least 20 million. It would be a sensational transfer but it will only happen if we offered the player a massive wage.
  14. Lol, that's fair. Strange I have never noticed it though.
  15. On what grounds? It's part of the 'furniture' at Fratton Park and always has been as long as I can remember. It's like saying the BBTN crew should be hoyed out of SJP. On the grounds that it's a steady, unmelodious din. Just because it's tradition doesn't make it good.
  16. HT Pompey 2 Bolton 1 John Utaka is RAPID, quality finish for pompey's second as well. The muppet ringing that sodding bell at Fratton Park should be hoyed out of the ground.
  17. I love the headline "Hammers capture Dyer" Like it was a real coup, a steal at 6-8 million. 70k+ per week!!!!
  18. Slightly intimidating!!!
  19. Good luck to them, if SJP can create even 30% of the atmosphere at places like the maracana (or insert any South American stadium) then we could make it a bloody intimidating.
  20. Biological probably yes
  21. An interesting comment from Ronaldinho. I was watching the spurs game and was concerned that we may struggle like they did if the strikers run out of steam. An aggresive full back could be a quality addition to add more dimensions to the squad.
  22. The last time I predicted a easy win against Villa we lost 3-0 and Dyer was involved in a small incident!

    Injuries

Boro have more problems, virtually all the quality of their defence ripped out, and they ain't got too many strikers either. Especially with Yakubu on his way out as well. I'm glad we are playing them before Huth and Woodgate are fit!!
  24. Plus I'd be childishly happy to discover that Big Sam had built himself a Dr Evil-esq nerve-center. I agree. When Leazes always ridiculed the concept of "planning" I've said a couple of times that of course you need the right playing staff, but that it is also very important to give them the appropriate environment which would pay out in long term. It's not just about backing your managers with big money that they can buy fancy strikers. So you think that we played in the Champions League without a better plan than all those who didn't what a dickhead That comment totally undermines what Bobby Robson did for the club and gives Shephard the credit for tinkering about with what he called a hobby. It was Robson's infectious enthusiasm for football that took Newcastle into the Champions League, and it's a travesty that there was no planning to build on what he did.
