  1. He will have been asked to address the fan's feeling regarding the window. The content of the journalist's article is determined by the question they pose. He has been asked this a lot as its on everyone's minds. Last season it was how we would cope without the irreplaceable Nolan, Barton and Enrique. This year the early season complaints are probably easier to answer seeing as we have retained all the players who did so well last year. Whether we over-achieved last year, under-achieve this year etc won't change the fact that people are being quite 'simple' in expecting one season to lead to a change in how we do business. The fact we were only a million off what was needed for Debuchy is very frustrating buts it's sticking to a plan. If we had upped an offer for one player and paid more than we wanted and then didn't with another player, then I'd be very worried. The consistency of how we do things shows there is at least a strategy, we can debate at length whether it's the right one as that needs to take account of many different factors. As an aside, as much as we needed 3 players, if we'd signed Debuchy and not Anita I think the fans would be feeling more satisfied.
  2. In France with SFR the iPhone 5 is cheaper to buy without a contract than the S3. However its 100 euros more for me to upgrade to the 5 than the s3 but the 5 has a better contract offer at the top end with better data and roaming packages. The pricing models all depend on what you currently have, contract, time since upgrade etc.
  3. They had warp drives on Star Trek in the 1960s too.
  4. That's the best one of those I've seen . Not saying much though.
  5. All 1,619 of your posts may as well have been just that. I quite admire your peculiar brand of madness Wolfster but you are annoyingly convenient when it comes to backing up what you have to say.
  6. Well if you prefer not to be analytical about it, then you can make that argument. Its not an argument you'll see in any of the major analysts reports. Renton was saying that Apple have stagnated and the iOS reflects this, the fact of the matter is that iOS proliferates more freely and rapidly across the ecosystem ensuring all hardware owners can access the latest features when they want, not when the hardware manufacturer allows them. The Forbes article shows that Google's position in this game is fragile, if Samsung move to Microsoft then whither Google? Apple's ability to monetise the user experience through apps, media and subscriptions for themselves and their ecosystem gives them a business strength far in excess of their market position in the mobile market. What the share price is telling you is that despite having seen Microsoft, the dot com boom, the terrible facebook IPO etc, the bottom line is that Apple is primed for the future as a business. I dont really care if the new iPhone is better than the S3 or not tbh (its interesting but not that interesting), i am convinced that the company is better set for the future than Google. Anyone who thinks this is about Apple vs Other manufacturers, doesnt get it. Its Apple v Google and has been for quite some time.
  7. Each OS is an upgrade, with the specs inside the phone far beyond what is needed for the average user. Not one app written for Android can fully utilise the specs inside the S3, the specs inside the iphone 5, according to that Android site are better than the S3.
  8. Its not, iOS 6 will roll out to all iPhone users, all iPad users, all iPod touch users, except for the few with very old models. iOS 6 is as good as Jelly Bean, apart from the odd feature better on each side. Jelly Bean will reach 7% of users because the manufacturers 1) control the upgrades and 2) dont want you to upgrade instead of buying a new handset. Apple makes money on the handsets, then on everything you buy on the handset. Its why despite a market share ahead of Apple, Samsung is not making as much money. Thats the point.
  9. http://www.androidauthority.com/apple-iphone-5-vs-samsung-galaxy-s3-114213/ The Conclusion So what do all the chapters above add up to? Which one is better: the Galaxy S3 or the iPhone 5? Well, I know most of you were hoping for a definitive answer, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s really all about personal preference! The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the advantage of a bigger display and an array of customizations that can be made thanks to its Android operating system. The Apple iPhone 5 has the advantage of a better optimized ecosystem, no LTE compromises, as well as slightly better internal specs.
  10. The jet stream was just an aside. Can you give me a simpler explanation of why it gets darker quicker flying eastwards and stays lighter longer flying westwards?
  11. Click on the link and look at the figures, this is the world's most valuable company for a reason. Who is the competition? Who is going to knock them off their financial perch and innovate them out of the market? Google? http://www.forbes.com/sites/benzingainsights/2012/08/01/is-samsung-leaving-android-for-windows-phone-8/ Are you sure about that?
  12. It doesnt take less time (apart from being aided by the jet stream west to east across e.g. the atlantic), it gets darker more quickly one way and stays lighter longer the other way. To draw upon the logic of a fictional character, the simplest explanation for this is the observed phenomena of a rotating earth. You have a simpler explanation?
  13. http://www.forbes.com/sites/darcytravlos/2012/08/22/five-reasons-why-google-android-versus-apple-ios-market-share-numbers-dont-matter/
  14. I've not even looked at the iPhone 5 yet, dont even know what it looks like tbh, read about the features etc and it seems that is caught up with Android, Jelly Bean may be better and the Siri voice thing probably favour iOS 6 for now in only that regard. However, i prefer Apple as a business. They make things and are clear about what they do. Google wants to be ubiquitous so it can sell you stuff you dont want or need through targeted adverts. You've got to pay for everything either way, either by being forced to watch adverts or by paying for stuff in a store. Apple supports the app developers and has 20 times the revenue for the developer community, it supports musicians and artists, Match is now apparently a massive income stream for artists who have had their music pirated over the years. Its basically a great company and a great stock. Google is dwarfed by Apple financially but are trying to catch up and their holy grail is taking their advertising model and translating it to the mobile platform. I am fascinated to see what comes out of Project Glass but then i dont think it will matter to Apple being a market follower in this area, in fact it will be an advantage.

  16. Aye Magnolia is amazing. I re-watched There Will be Blood just the other day, saw it at the cinema the first time and for some reason didnt remember it that well. Must have had a few pints beforehand or something.
  17. 8.20 to 8.52 is cutting it fine but i'd be inclined to go for it. http://www.eurostar.com/UK/uk/leisure/travel_information/at_the_station/stations/brussels_midi_zuid.jsp If you look on the map of Brussels midi station, you're not far from Eurostar when you get off, maybe 5 minutes. Worth bearing in mind, Bruges is lush, Brussels is alright but you have to know where you are going or be lucky in finding somewhere. If you do end up staying in Brussels, let us know what you are looking for and i'll give you some addresses. Our policy think tank is based there and am good mates with one of the managers who likes a bevvy etc. Mussels are lush, never thought i'd like them either so you might be surprised. With chips and lush Belgian beer, nowt better.
  18. Same director as There Will be Blood, a big HF favourite iirc. Speaking of films coming out, i quite enjoyed David Mitchell's books and saw that Cloud Atlas was being made into a film. Any buzz on whether its meant to be any good?
  19. Whats pushing it close? Reliability and keeping to timetables is usually a lot better in Europe. Travel through Brussels regularly (rarely stop) and the trains (national and regional are always on time). I dont want to advise you to definitely stay in Bruges because you dont want to miss the Eurostar but if the train from Bruges gives you half an hour, you'll be fine. Ignore the 'must check in by' time with Eurostar, if you turn up 20 mins before the train leaves, you're getting on. In business there is no time limit specified, you can be 1 minute before the train leaves. If you end up in Brussels then you've just got to find a decent Moules Frites, its the mussel season now so the Zeelandaise mussels will be massive and lush. I'd recommend somewhere like here http://uk.chezleon.be/
  20. Aye intellectual property doesn't really exist in China.
  21. The Android fanboy is clearly a mackem forever in the knowledge that Apple is a superior business. This may be the one of those seasons where the Android mackems are doing better but in the long run, the superior outfit will prevail.
  22. Its not telling at all, its just that Android is fairly small in the technology industry, whereas Apple is the most valuable company in the world. Where google and facebook have a physical presence you get a lot of weird behaviour too. No idea what relevance this has to anything.
  23. Its a bit like mackems and geordies iyam.
  24. Sentence 2 is inconsistent with sentence 4.
