  1. I met his brother Johnnie once. Younger brother? Nicknamed 'Baby'? Dad joke tbh.
  2. Bit of a monster read but a great article. Reminds me of that financial journalist going crazy about Goldman's on France 24.
  3. Capitalism has many forms. How many of you receive a bill from EDF for your leccy? I imagine a few, since they have been on a 'capitalist' expansion path for some years now. Just about wholly owned and controlled by the French government though. How is wealth created? How can you redistribute wealth before you have created it? Government social plans truly came into existence under Bismark in the 1880s, when Germany implemented their social insurance schemes. This was funded by innovations from the industrial revolution creating wealth that could be then re-distrtibuted. A wholly capitalist affair. Unfettered capitalism causes problems but the idea that there is a conspiracy fails to understand the complex interaction of opportunity and motivation at the heart of a market exchange. People exploit opportunities to ensure bread gets put on the table in the same way that people are exploited after economic shocks and disasters. The key is regulation, as ever.
  4. Wonder what he would be like at centre back?
  5. Well, if he is as much of a muppet as people say he is, what i want to know his how he understands how it will work? Sounds like some sort of an asset-backed security (need Matt's help here), with the underlying assets being the multiple contributions from pensions that create an income pool. This goes into the club and into some form of security(?), the return from which is paid out when you retire. In short, no idea how it will work properly but it sounds good.
  6. They apparently patented the idea. I head it mentioned that the 'model' has been patent protected or something like that. The reason why Moat or someone hasnt done it before is because making plastic fish toys doesnt qualify you in pension law and complex securitised asset management. You dont need any cash to invest either. You dont see your pension contributions in your wage packet, so if you sign up, your disposable income is not affected, i believe. Its a great idea but like a lot of good ideas, they dont look so great when you start to implement them. Never stopped Brunel though. Fair enough. Would you stick your pension into it though? Not sure I would, if I had one. I've got a University one (3 years in), two private ones (8 years in one and 2 years in current) and a state one, so yes i would. Can you put some of the state one in? Everyone has one of them and i assumed this was what they were referring to. To be honest mate, even if we were still in the championship when i retired, it would probably perform ok-ish as a financial asset. The problem i see with this idea is credibility and practical implementatioon. The principle sounds very interesting.

  8. Would like to see a comparison of the squad changes from last season to post this window for us, Boro and West Brom. Am thinking this window could have been a lot worse.
  9. Gibson's not coming apparently, from someone who mentioned his name before the press.
  10. Having a medical? We're not sure, it seemed unlikely so I decided to post in the club sale thread.
  11. shut up Is that like a 13 year old girl "shut up" of excitement. It is now.
  12. Ashley at training ground according to Waddle's Mullet. I love transfer deadline day
  13. Hopefully we will get promoted (there's a loooooooooong way to go though). But if we do get promoted this season, how do you think we'll do in the Premiership next season with this side? With us back in the prem, there will be a lot more money around - we won't have the same side so its a daft question really How will there be more money??!!!?? There was never any before you mong Because the revenue will be back up to around 100m and the cost base will be much lower with hopefully young, less expensive and up for it players. Cant believe you call someone a mong but cant do simple maths in your head. All part of the 5 year plan. I can't believe Ashley will spend significantly though. And it'll require pretty significant spending to stay up imo. He'll try and sell us if we get promoted, hence paralysing any attempts to re-structure. My point is spot on though. We've essentially now have a championship cost base except for those players good enough to make the step up. A return to the premiership will mean there will be "a lot more money around", which someone got called a mong for saying. I wont let idiocy like that slip through on my watch. Yeah, I'm not saying there won't be more money around. It's just where it'll end up that bothers me. I'm not convinced a sale is nailed on if we go up either. Indeed, that was more gallows humour than anything.

  16. I think this will happen a lot to us at home this season. Teams are well up for it and run around like blue arsed flys for an hour before being completely wankered. I thought we were the anxious ones when 4 minutes went up on the board. I'm happy with the result, but a relegated Premier league club keeping 10 men behind the ball for long spells against a promoted league 1 team was not what I'd hope for. Those subs were quite brave of Hughton as they put us under pressure at the end but they were so lacking in cutting edge and quality, dont think it was a real problem. We couldnt retain it once Donaldsona and Vukic were on.
  17. Simpson kept it simple, with a couple of clearances straight into touch when under some pressure. Not as good as Enrique (who was laughably better than N'Guennes or whatever he was called down the right) but good decision-making. Also agreed about Ryan Taylor, didnt look like a startled deer for once.
  18. I think this will happen a lot to us at home this season. Teams are well up for it and run around like blue arsed flys for an hour before being completely wankered. What has been most encouraging for me is that we have looked organised, motivated and committed as a side, meaning we are capable of dealing with the intensity and then upping our game to score. Hughton gets the credit for that.
  19. We bossed the second half when Ranger came more into the game. For those shots on target, ours had more quality in the build up and were clearer chances (edit: apart from the Howard header and the free kick, which wasnt that good anyway). For those off target, theirs were scooped into row Z, Geremi's and Barton's were fizzing shots that had the keeper beaten. Dont why people want to play down that second half, we were far far better than them and from the Leicester forums, their fans completely agree. The reason why was they worked their arses off in the first half to contain us and lacked the fitness to stifle our play int he second.
  20. Were you just trying to answer my question?
  21. By presume I assume you meant "I don't have a clue so I am going to just make something up". SVT stand for Supra ventricula tachycardia. Fucking hell, i was just asking. Not far off though, both vascular diseases. What sort of wanker asks someone a question, gets a decent response based on the best of his knowledge, picks out a mistaken assumption and then takes the piss? Tosser
  22. Is bitching about Christiano Ronaldo's 'look' gay?
