    Alan Smith

Was thinking this yesterday, we seem too good for the Championship, but not good enough for the Premier League, not sure what the answer to that is without his fatness putting his hands in his pocket. Think that was written in The Times too. Imo, its to do with a widening gulf between the two leagues. Thats just a theory though.
  3. That one from Burke was going in and on another day Chopra might have got the ball round the wall. Could have just been complacency, which is a worry in itself. (Enrique giving the ball away, Colo's jump before the Smith sending off etc).
  4. Parky's 5-a-side half-time teamtalks are the stuff of legend.
  5. Most of Barton's mis-placed passes yesterday were balls into space in the final 3rd, looking to release a player. He had a fantastic 15 mins at the start of the second half then faded out of the game. I'm confident his form will come if he stays in the side (which i've no doubt he will).
  6. I'd be pissed off if i was a Cardiff fan, they should have got a result. Funny now reading media reports, we were 'solid defensively' and they could 'find no way through'. They had 16 shots, 14 on target to our 2, yet the editorial / journalist angle is that we defended amazingly because the we won 0-1. I thought we looked very shaky. Great result like.
  7. The best midfield at the club has to have Jonas on the left, Barton* in the middle and a natural right winger i.e R. Taylor. The question is do you partner Barton with Smith or Guthrie. The formation yesterday was an interesting one, not sure if everyone had been fit, he would have played that way but it certainly stifled them. *On the basis of his potential and performances under Keegan, not his last 2 showings obviously.
  8. Don't think Messrs Cshley and Co. want a big court action where they are made to look evil. I read that an OOC settlement failed a few months ago. If Ashley thought he would lose (and surely he can afford a lawyer to tell him what will happen), then he would have settled and am sure Keegan would have taken it, since this could be damaging to him too. Normally, you'd look at this and think Ashley must have a strong hand but given what we know about him, anything could be possible. The hearing today is not in public, right?
  9. It's not waste , even if it's £25,000 for a feasibility study in the feasibility of a feasibility study. That's Chezyism Chezonomics mate, you cant argue with it.
  10. Wtf am i on about? Shola and Jonas out with injury, Barton coming back from one. 3 out of our top 4/5 players in this league. We could have been luckier tbf.
  11. Lucky more like Therefore by implication, the team has been lucky to get the results. Which is patently bollocks. Hardly, the guy's said we're going to walk the league with the squad we have, the squad is obviously too thin without luck having a hand in not getting injuries - it's got bugger all to do with how the first team has performed. Therefore the guy's been lucky that the first team haven't really had injuries, if they had it's doubtful we'd have got the same results during this start to the season and it's even more doubtful that they'd continue any further in to the season. It's easy to say that with our 'first team' we'd win the league, but with our 'squad' it's a different matter altogether. ... which isn't bollocks. He's been right 'so far' as in we've beaten teams through our superior quality and not through luck. Again, the 'team'/'club' has been lucky that we havent had any injuries, not accadacca. They've not been lucky to win those games though.

  13. Parky flies the funny plane into the darkies thread.
  14. Wahey! Happy Birthday mate, on a friday too which is always nice.
  15. I thought it was decent. Not as good as their first though (albeit better named). They went to shit after that though I thought. If you listen to Crocodile off 'Oblivion with bells' really fucking loud, its an amazing track. Did you like that Juan Maclean thing or not then? The did the odd good thing but overall their albums were pretty pants. Still haven't listened to TJM properly but I like it so far. 'Happy House' is very good. Listen to 'No Time', the lyrics are really funny and the chorus is a play on Raw Silk's Do it to the music (which was also a massive rave hit for PKA called 'Temperature's Rising on Stress records in 91). I love a house music thread hijack.

  17. All aboard the gravy train! I've seen their plan too. Looks like a money-spinner for them.
  18. The DoH for Eng/Wales is actually committed to sorting out the discrepancy in survival rates from cancer in the UK and the rest of the leading economies in Europe. Their solution? Pay for Mckinsey to sort it out! Just what was needed, more management consultants.
  19. Songs will end up having adverts in them. The second chorus will be interrupted by targeted advertising based on the song subject and the likely profile of the listener. I suspect my collection will become interspersed with exhortations to buy vicks vaporub, glow-sticks and rogaine.
  20. Muslims only have kids call Mohammed? Only if they figures you originally used, Chris, were only in Fops head too....... were they? What do you mean? I've linked to the data i quoted. You're yet to. See what is there, not just what you want to see. I already responded to the "all kids are called mohammed" question when it was asked earlier. ALL non-muslim names aren't in the top 100. We're talking about a proportion of the figures available. Then why quote the figure you did? Do you know what a sample is? Its a little jar containing wee.
  21. does it fuck Fuck off Mo, it does, it's not even our country any more. France has the strongest cultural identity in the whole of Europe and it has over 6 million muslims.
  22. Indeed, its postive news* but doubt it will change anything. *in the sense that anything that make the owner richer, cant harm us. Can it???
  23. We go down to the Canteen as a team around 12.15pm, there is usually a choice of between 4 and 6 starters, mains and desserts. Today i had an avocado mousse to start and since i hadnt had beef for a while went for faux-fillet with pasta and green beans, the sauce is always some garlic based affair. For dessert i had a plate of mixed fruit. Finish around 1pm, we make our way through to the coffee bar where we sit and chat for 15 minutes over an expresso and go back up usually before 1.30pm The cost today was 3.70 euros including coffee. Stick that in your 'al desko' sandwich.
  24. It seems to me that the new 'badge of honour' is humility.
