Eddies play shit n win or play well n lose mags vs Cole Palmer
PaddockLad replied to Andrew's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yeah that’s why I said the player loyalty thing isn’t accurate at the moment but it’s definitely a perception that’s out there. When Howe was appointed our dear friend and colleague ewerk, as he does, dug out 3 or 4 posts I’d made slating him. I knew what was going on down here in the last couple of seasons of Howe’s tenure at AFCB. We all know about the shit Fraser pulled in their relegation season but Callum Wilson also sat the final months of that season out in the physios room and many AFCB supporters were saying things about him that now sound very familiar. Do players lose faith in Howe’s methods after a while? Is/was the physicality required too much? Have our better players who are in a different league quality wise to the decent pros Howe dragged up from league 2 just acted a bit quicker than they did?… obviously am just speculating. There is no lack of effort from our players but yesterday we gave the ball away so much because in my opinion we looked weak on the ball when we came up against Chelsea’s press. When Chelsea challenged for the ball in midfield they invariably won it. That’s the difference for me between this season and the one before last. Not sure how you get that back… -

This Bournemouth fan’s opinion is, rightly or wrongly, echoed by many NUFC supporters today.. if you look at the facts as to which players are available to him and why that is the case it’s probably not a decent comparison but the implied tactical inflexibility certainly is… Its from this article in The Athletic… -
Unreal last 10 in the premier league … good point for Bournemouth at Villa ☺️ Anyway, in another instalment of “PL goes early” am adding to “Paul Mitchell is actually useless” this nailed on cert… When we’re 14th without a win in 3 months in early December we’re going sack that false curr Howe and make an OUTRAGEOUS swoop for one of the most talented up and coming coaches in Europe 😆

Chatting to @sammynb about this reminded me of this, when this individual appeared to be a true force for good in this world. It’s the first time I’d heard of him and I thought the application of this sort of tech was inspired at the time. Not so much nowadays 😑 https://news.sky.com/story/amp/elon-musk-wins-50m-bet-with-giant-battery-for-south-australia-11141165

From your article Sounds like a small scale domestic set up. If the tech giants start driving this it’ll completely change the sector with investment into research and the technology required set up costs will reduce quickly.
-
The advantage of them is independence and reliability for the tech industry. Google and Amazon will drive this and they’ll start popping up everywhere iyam https://www.sciencenews.org/article/small-modular-nuclear-reactors-amazon Nuclear is a no brainer if you can protect the infrastructure from physical and IT attacks.

Am sort of more coming from the angle that there are 4 games in the same city so 8 sets of supporters out and about, all bar one kicking off at the same time, including supporters of two of the biggest teams on the planet…

I’m watching channel 4 news on +1. Also watched the Villa match last night which I should’ve enjoyed far more than my crippling fuckin jealousy would allow… they’ve sold one of their best players last summer and still improved, their recruitment at this stage looks inspired; Onana replaced the departed Douglas Luiz and has been great but is now carrying a knock and was subbed early, Rodgers from Man City looks fuckin brilliant and Maatsen was the reason many Chelsea fans were ok with Hall coming to us, he looked mint last night too… -
Thatcher gave UK athletes the choice as to whether they went to the Moscow Olympics in 1980 (the yanks called for a boycott due to the recent invasion of Afghanistan) all apart from dear old Geoff Capes. As a serving police officer the fuckin rancid old bitch prevented him from attending or he’d lose his job. So I always felt a bit sorry for the cunt, even though ACAB, obvs

Do we think that the DoJ or any other apparently accountable body are making contingency plans for violence should Trump be declared to have lost? It’s all very well Harris winning, but in some ways parts of the US may be lost along the way….looks to me like local Trump cult members are likely to attack certain state Capitols etc. The National Guard will likely flood DC but the US is vast.. they’re unlikely to be able to protect democracy everywhere, the individuals on January 6 were very highly motivated. That was a dress rehearsal for what’s about to come…

22 years ago today…maybe we just don’t read newspaper reports of football match anymore but this reads (brilliantly iyam) like a real period piece, written whilst the game was going on. I was actually looking for a pic of Buffon’s gloves with the Tyne Bridge on them (I’ve definitely seen a pic, anyone with time and better Google skills?? 😆) when I came across this…. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2002/oct/24/newsstory.sport10 -

I love the old Football Manager squad when they strike up, the indignant protests of the terminally entitled….anyway…. 1. Theres very likely moderate to large issues behind the scenes due to the frankly clumsy arrival of a new DoF 2. The squad is undoubtedly a bit stale with some players still involved who Rafa bought and who played in the championship 3. A lot of these and fringe players have the power of decent and relatively long term contracts meaning they’re hanging around like a bad smell 4. PSR has our financial hands tied tightly round our backs 5. Our best players aren’t for whatever reason playing at their best, mostly due to fitness issues as far as I can make out. Our best players are also, even when fully fit, prone to inconsistency. 6. In spite of all this, If we’d taken the chances we’d created in the games v Everton and Brighton we’d have won both and have been on 17 points level with Villa in fourth. Am sure that doesn’t console many on here because we didn’t win either, and the reasons we didn’t win are largely due to points 1-5. Am not sure whether this squad and manager are likely to get themselves out of this trough. We’re still owned by people with no track record in football ownership and after their frankly miraculous start they’re maybe wondering what their next move is now we’ve hit a bit of an impasse. I look at Villa, they’re owned by V sports group, who own a share in a number of clubs. They’ve fucked up a bit (appointing Gerrard and Smith eg) but they’re going great now. Bournemouth look a really well run club too, they’re owned by people with experience in running sports clubs too. Am not sure as it stands we can say NUFC are particularly well run and that’s from top to bottom. Do PiF know what is required? The sad loss of Darren Eales won’t help that either. In view of all that I think we’re right to be a bit concerned. There’s lots of issues and they’re unlikely to be all ironed out in January or possibly even next summer. The structure looks right on paper but it’s stopped working to the benefit of the team on the pitch. But, as I’ve said, we still did enough to win the last two games. So cheer up ya miserable fuckers 😜
