Hottiger was quite good. Bernard should definitely be in there. There's one or two players I literally cannot remember how good/shit they were now (Domi/Goma/Dabizas). I like N'Zogbia but was underused at times while here. Never thought much of Asprilla in the league, scored very few goals.

While I agree it's not a good idea, just looking at the way teams in the US are run in closed leagues shows that you can very easily make a profit off of a shitty team which finishes dead last for 20 years running if you don't have to worry about relegation. But they don't have the massive outgoings on wages that the EPL clubs have. Most of the MLS players (apart from the designated players) are on lower championship-league 1 wages.

Whilst I'm far from forgiving MA of the mistakes he has made and think we need to wait and see how this season goes I do feel as if some people wouldn't give him credit no matter how well we did. Would be interesting to see how they would react if we won a cup for instance, which in my opinion is very much possible with this squad and a bit of luck.

Getting rid of relegation would be an utter disaster cutting out about 50% of the excitement of the season as a whole. Teams like Blackburn would be damaged by such a move (despite the fact that they're idiot owners probably back the idea) as for most of the season they'll have absolutely nothing to play for and crowds will go down.

And this is why we'll not collapse like Blackpool or Hull. We're not finishing 4th, but neither are we getting relegated. 75 % of the defence were here when we got relegated. Don't think Simpson is the difference. Hopefully the quality in front of them will stay fit/ban free. How many games will Tiote miss for the African nations? But Krul, Colo and Saylor (despite the odd moments off stupidity) are much improved and now seem to have gelled as a unit. Raylor and Simpson look less mediocre as a result. the amount of games Tiote misses because of the ACN depends entirely on how far Ivory Coast go. Competition starts on 21st of January and finishes up mid February.

Who would get the job? O'Neill or Hughes? I'm happy enough knowing that with Bruce in charge they're going nowhere. I think O'Neill usually picks his jobs wisely, he'd have a hard time getting that squad much further than Bruce got them last season so I'd be surprised if he'd risk it. Hughes on the other hand might be more desperate for a job.

Playing Ben Arfa behind Ba could work well but to be fair, Best has scored a fair few goals this season. He gets into decent positions.

Like I said before if we keep this up there's no reason why we can't be the "best of the rest" (ie outside the obvious 6) which would be a pretty decent improvement on where we've been for a long time now. Early days still of course.

We don't have the squad to make him look good. The sort of tap-in merchant like him is only good in a team like Man United where his positioning gets him heaps of chances Utter nonsense.

One thing that people frequently bring up is that we haven't played anyone decent yet. Whilst I would generally agree with that (apart from Arsenal obviously but they were/are in a mess of their own at the time) I would also say that the amount of really "decent" teams is quite low. Basically, apart from the Manchesters and Chelsea I would at least give us a chance against anyone in the league. Obviously we won't finish higher than the likes of Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool in out current state but it should not be unthinkable that we could finish at the top of the "best of the rest" pile. That's not to say we will but the fact we could shows we have made some improvements.

Depends a lot on injuries/form etc. If we keep going scraping decent results on a semi regular basis than I could see them sticking with what we have. If Ben Arfa/Ba/Best etc get a few injuries or we're playing shite I'd say we'll get a new striker in the 3-6 million price range.

It is and btw TooJ's edits are brilliant and it's a shame they are removed by youtube for whatever reasons. Wasn't being entirely serious like Best bet is to put the videos somewhere like Dailymotion of metacafe where they're less likely to be taken down.
