Gary Speed's career in pictures: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/gallery/2011/nov/27/gary-speed-career-in-pictures?CMP=twt_gu

Great header of the ball as that video shows. Very understated, never did any silly tricks or big goal celebrations, just a classic professional. So sad.
-
Thing with Speed was he managed to make a big impact at 4 different premiership sides which is really some achievement. Even at Bolton in his later years he was still very useful and extremely reliable.

Terrible news, great player and seemed like he was starting to get things going with Wales too. RIP

Krul was out of this world. There's a great spirit about this team, whatever about the off the field stuff.

***Official Mike Ashley Euro express thread***
TicTacWoe replied to Baggio's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yup, this is the most likely thing to happen. That said, if/when they do go if they're replaced as well as others have been in recent times than I believe we could sustain ourselves as a top 8 team. But the main point is to enjoy this while we have it. We won't win anything but we could finish 7th and possibly qualify for europe which is a massive improvement on the shit of recent times (both Ashley's and the latter day Shepherd eras). -
Considering the players they lost in the summer they've done alright despite the panic buys. They could well have won the league in recent years if van Persie had a proper run of games like he has this season and had the unspellable young pole in goal instead of that clown Almunia. Problem is, despite these improvements, the two best midfielders and left back went where the money/glory is so they're back where they started.
-
Nah I reckon he'll spend a bit, not much but if spent well it'll be enough to ensure that we finished 7th or 8th.
-
Going a bit far to say he's shite Stevie. He does look good at times and over the course of the season could get used to the league and the way they play. He has missed some shockers like but I still reckon he could be a good player for them. He's no Nasri though, who he has effectively replaced.
-
Keep Taylor in the team for a while, drop Simpson instead and bring in Santon, see what happens bish bash bosh
-
Since before the season started I've felt we could finished 7th with this squad. Aston Villa's shit choice of manager and Everton not signing a player for a fee in 2 fucking years has helped massively though. As fr being the "best of the rest" for years to come, that relies heavily on keeping the squad together or if they are sold, replacing them wisely.

Some of those from the blog are great, all it needs now is a few Stokoe vs pepperspray cop photoshops.

Carroll`s career so far in Liverpool
TicTacWoe replied to Lake Bells tits's topic in Newcastle Forum
Still think Caroll may well come good. Was never worth that much money but I still reckon he can be a great player for them in time (hope not though, can't stand Liverpool). -
I agree that it's the right setup but I think a very slight tweak, ie playing Coleman and occasionally McCarthy could make a difference. The full backs we're playing are Kelly (not playing regularly) and Ward (not a natural left back). I just think it's ridiculous that we ignore a player of Coleman's quality.
-
It was ridiculously easy last night but considering what happened against France in the previous playoff I think it evens itself out. The team is pedestrian and doesn't even include some of the best players available (Coleman, McCarthy etc) but Trappatoni has made us incredibly well organised (and boring) so I'd say any team (apart from Spain perhaps) will have trouble playing us in the Euros. We won't do anything spectacular but we won't get beaten by much either.
-
Would definitely have him back. Not for anything like the daft money Liverpool paid but for 10-15 million sure (not that it has a remote chance of happening).
