  1. In what way do you think his game is improving? I know he does the ball guard better than anyone, but when does he ever get telling tackles in? Look at the Arsenal second half, Simpson was all over the box making last minute sliding tackles. Re your second paragraph, that was part of my main point. Once bitten and all that. If a Barton type player was ahead of him who didnt lose possession then I think Enrique would be magnificent not only with bye line crosses, but also with a few goals.
  2. See now thats a proper response. Shame on PP and Alex. I certainly dont think we've seen the Enrique of old who would burst down the wing this season. Think he did it a lot more before we were relegated and in the champ (obv in the champ). He's being more conservative with his runs down the flank because it's far easier to get caught out and punished in the PL. I can only really remember him bursting down the wing when Keegan was here and even then, I can't recall it more than he has this season. Yet Simpsons doing it so well on the other flank....which may back up my Jonas point. Simpson has Barton to help him out.
  3. See with Simpson, you can really see him getting better game by game all over the pitch to such an extent that a few on here are suggesting an England call up. Appreciate that he's obviously increased from a poorer run of form, but I still think its quite noticeable now that he is outshining Enrique.
  4. Clearly not you. Bit of an obsession with you now, Jonas. Is the anger slowly building? Does just the mention of his name… Jonas Guittierez… wind you up. Quiet day on the rank? Jonas I think my dislike of Jonas is legendary......However I was trying to concentrate on Enrique.

  6. Thats a possibility, but given our very attacking play, one I find hard to believe, especially given the excellent attacking form of Simpson on the other side. Nearly scored on Saturday.
  7. Maybe the question was too complicated for you. I didnt say he wasnt one of our best players I was talking about whether he is improving, stagnating or going backward. If you havent got an opinion then fine, but dont turn a straight forward question into a girly squabble ffs.
  8. I know he's done really well for us, but this season I think he's finding it tougher and tougher. We all know he can sprint and then guard the ball while he turns and comes out of defence, but the rest of his game doesnt really seem to have grown. Very rarely do you see him going in with a sliding tackle a la Barton. His attacking game has nearly disappeared, however I lay the blame for that with the poor form of Jonas, more than just Enriques fault. Think he's almost scared to make the runs down to the bye line as he knows that more often than not, Jonas will lose possession. I appreciate he gets lots of love for his contributions to facebook, but anyone got an objective view on how they think he's developed so far.
  9. That's because he's already a permanent fixture of the first team squad having being on the bench for the last 5 or 6 games....... Not to open a can of worms but that's because there's nee fucker else who can play wide left in the squad. Dont disagree and I appreciate he may be a few years off getting a regular start (if good enough), but currently, when Jonas is having an off day, I see no harm in letting the lad be an impact sub as Ranger has been. Youth doesnt have to mean no good. I think as sure as eggs are eggs, Lua Lua will be the permanent left winger next season.
  10. I would have Barton in for Solano and Pedro in for Lee, that line up is far too defensive Aye, I think I agree with you spongy. Barton this season just offers so much in example as well as football and Beardsley would need to be in.
  11. I fully accept that football has fundamentally changed and irreversibly so - I agree with SBTP that families per se is good for the game but over-focusing on them is a mistake in my view. This isn't all just about atmosphere - its about footballs place in the community as an outlet for tribalism and yes some aggression. I think claiming we're beyond the need for that outlet is naive. The whole section must only be about 10% of the overall capacity. Not sure though that it makes great sense to put the 18-21 year olds next to the away fans
  12. There are of course exceptions to the rule, but going to the match throughout your life is like going for a night out. Teens, lots of clubbing and going mental / Standing and singing in the singing section 20's, starting to feel a tad old but still give it a good go. Bit more tongue in cheek though. 30's, Clubbings over but still like to have a nice time at the local, but now starting to hope theres a nice seat waiting so you dont have to stand. 40's, Rather go for a nice civilised meal / Bar 1892 50's, Game of bingo at the social club / East stand.
  13. I have no problem with a family section, obviously having a family. But apart from that, I still think its a good idea and I would bet that in a few years time when some of the young uns on here who are complaining, have little uns of their own, they will only be too delighted to take them to the match with them. While those getting shifted are rightly unhappy, overall the 10 year deal and 10% discounts for championship ticket holders are decent moves.

  15. Cheers for the suggestions, not sure about Paradiso for this occasion but might check it out in future as looks good. Should have said italian isn't good as I cant eat cheese so other suggestion is out but thanks anyway. Anyone been to Noosh or Landmark before? Landmark is lovely and has some very different curtain draped booths to eat in that will make her feel really special. Virtual tour here http://www.landmarkoriental.co.uk/index.asp?textpage=home

  18. Just watched this yet again (well the half that counts anyway). 4 or 5 chances I've given Nolan but he still hasn't scored that last minute winner. Loving Simpson's tackling, Loving Pardews celebration and Loving the crowds performance. Would still like to hear from those that were there, how they felt as that second half unfolded. How come they were so up for it second half? At what did they believe? A word also on Joeys penalties......They went in but by hell they were ropey!!! He did a fabulous interview with Total sport and they played the first half tonight (second half tomorrow). Does a great speech about how he looked into their eyes and could see they'd gone Also he said something along the lines of Shola is the normal penalty taker, then Nolan. Nolan sort of hesitated so Joey just took the ball and took the penalty. He's being getting stick since that the only thing he doesnt take is the goal kicks, so he's told Harper he'll be taking them from now on as well. Maybe worth checking their site to see if its on.
  19. Next week the renewals come out and the rest of us have to wait til spring.....(or August if you have any sense)
  20. Yup. Not special needs at all.....Fair game
  21. I'll start by saying the following is no comfort for fans being moved and if I was in your shoes I would be equally pissed off. Simon Esland, Newcastle United head of customer operations came on Radio Newcastle total sport to explain the changes in season tickets etc. He came across very well and put the case for the changes across equally well. With regard to the family section. It is currently sold out and when families ring for tickets week on week there is no space to fit them in, even though the ground is not sold out. It is sensible to extend the section rather than to set up another family section elsewhere in the ground. The 18-21 section is designed to allow those kids that reach 18 in the family section, an area to move into without having to pay full adult price for 3 years. The away section is being extended to give the club flexibility to increase the allocation to travelling fans if feasible. The ground is not sold out so being able to offer travelling clubs a further 500 seats is good business sense. Depending on the match, the club may decide to keep those extra 500 seats for home fans, if they think they can sell them. He also mentioned that they would be re-starting the fans forum meetings.....Pud take note.
  22. Canny bloke tbh, cursed to work under a horrible administration. Came across well and the reasons for the changes well stated, although obviously no comfort for fans having to shift seats.
  23. Seriously, why dont you two meet up for a few pints. I'll organise a free taxi, chuck in the first two pints and take you both home. Once you've had a drink together, this shit will stop.
