  1. It's in my rental Q. Did you hear Von Trier has written an auto biographical script for someone else to shoot? I didn't, but that's interesting, I wonder who'll get the chance? I'd quite like to see him do it himself, it'd be interesting to see what he'd do with it, is it a straight autobiography or has he embellished it in any way, do you know?
  2. Nice one. Yeah, I know, I'm just teasing.
  3. It's not like you to swallow the US propaganda Rob. They've been saying that since he got in, in 1998, and has it happened? No it hasn't. The Venezuelan economy was hardly setting the world alight before him either, so it's not like the bar had been raised very high, anyway.
  4. Directors aren't important in Hollywood. Fuck Off man, Hollywood churns out some very good films by directors with their own stamp. Tarantino is overrated like the Beatles are. Doesn't mean they aren't awesome. Look I don't want to crucify his work, for the most part it is highly enjoyable. What I won't stand for is crime scene investigation with film theory books and geeky dribbling. In the cannon of modern cinema he has sealed a position and I like the way he made it from his video store job and I respect him for that. But at the end of the day I don't really find much in his work I can take away. Post your 100 favourite films again mate, I fancy a laugh. You'll get your chance to rape me when I put up me fav films of 2006 rasta. The Squid and the Whale was good. Btw Parkster, did you ever check out 'Lovers of the Arctic Circle' (mentioned it on N-O ages ago). Pure class and reet up your street I reckon. Plus, it gets extra points for being dead obscure That is in 'your' file along with John Fante. Thanks for reminding me......Need to order 15 or 20 dvd's v soon if I am to get through the winter. Are you ever going to use your KG membership that I went through hell to get for you - not really - or what!?! I've got loads of invites now, like, if anyone's interested?
  5. Oi Park Hampers!! Have you watched Element of Crime yet? In fact has anyone, Alex, Nicos,......etc? If not, pull your fingers out and get it watched, you won't regret it.
  6. Where's it going to come from though? Financially we're in the shit, we needed this takeover to bail us out of the position our haphazard spending policies have gotten us into.
  7. I might, but it won't be for a while, I've got a pile of books to read at the moment. Who's that bloke in your ava? Is it Morris Minor and the Major's? It's the legend, that is: Hugo Chavez. Who is he? Looks like some sort of revolutionary in that beret and rant. Chavez Guivera in that shell suit mind heh heh Good guess. He's the president of Venezuela: much loved by his people, much hated by the Yanks, who have tried to have him killed a couple of times and have backed a couple of unsuccessful coup attempts against him. One of which is the subject of a documentary film by an Irish TV crew who just so happened to be in the presidential palace at the exact moment it all kicked off. Have a look on Youtube for "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised", it's on there in 8 parts. The yanks refer to him as a dictator, yet he is the "most elected" leader in the world (ie he has won more elections and given his people more chances to vote on his policies in referendums, than anyone else), these aren't dodgy elections either - they have the backing of the Carter Centre - things that can't be said about George Bush and the US. After he came to power he nationalised the Venezuelan oil industry and used the profits to help the poor, build schools, homes, hospitals, etc, etc. This means the rich people - who have for so long enjoyed the country's oil wealth with the help of the private media and the previous corrupt governments - hate him, they use the private media, which they own, to continually slag him off and try to undermine his policies. The fact that he allows them to do this, shows that the accusations of authoritarianism are bollocks. He regularly takes the piss out of George Bush and when he spoke at the UN - shortly after Bush - he accused him of being the devil and said he could still smell the sulphur lingering around the podium from when he had been there. The man's a living legend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Ch%C3%A1vez
  8. Definitely over-rated. He has talent, and makes enjoyable films, but he's the equivalent of a collage maker, to other directors' "Old Masters".

  13. Well Freddy over-pricing the club by a ridiculous amount, yes. But seriously, it's not going to be easy for anyone to make a profit out of NUFC at the moment. After the new tv deal there is lodas more money in football. I saw a quote somewhere saying clubs will get a stupid 20 mill a year extra. And why buy now when they can wait till end of seasion and the gates are low footballs shite and we just avoid relegation. Halls can sack freddy and then will be desperate to sell knock a good few mill off the price. Apparently, the bottom club will get £30m from the new tv deal, which is what Chelsea got for winning the league last season!! Who will benefit from this new wealth? Players and agents no doubt. In relative terms, we will be no better off than before. Except you can expect the match going fans to suffer further shit k.o. times. Yep.

  15. Do they know the meaning of incredible? Apparently, not.
  16. Yeah, that's true. However, part of the effects of climate change is that we will experience sudden bouts of extreme weather, just like yesterday's. Also, the seasons will become less predictable and the weather more random, although you'd obviously expect some weather like that at this time of year, it might well happen in the middle of summer or at any other time of year. We had some snow last summer, for example.
  17. Which show, the main one at about 9pm or whatever? Because if it was, what I heard was that they'd both be "up for eviction", although, as someone said at the time there was no "Who goes, you decide" bit at the end.
  18. So I assume the gobby one is way out in front on the votes? It's a landslide!! Nothing to do with votes, like, just caused by Jade sitting down. *budumtish*
  19. Just rang my boss to find out what's happening about the roof and she told me that the building's been condemned!! Some people are going to other offices, but I've been given the day off, she's going to sign my time sheet and all, because it's "not my fault". Little does she know about the secret weather-controlling doomsday weapon I've been developing in my lunch break.
  20. It certainly is, and I've just been given the day off!! Wahey!!
  21. I feel like a prisoner that's been refused parole. *sigh*
  22. missed it, elaborate us oh wise one It's a wee bit windy in England and you lot have had a light dusting of snow.
  23. None of this would be happening if there was a real man in the house. All the men are disengaged from what is going on and none have intervened. Well Jermaine is too soft and Dirk can't be arsed basically, from the looks of things.

    Heroes

No, because it's on a break at the moment. Actually, the only pap I'm trying to watch at the moment is Battlestar Bogstandardica, which I'm struggling through in the seemingly vain hope of it living up to your recommendation. I'm up to episode 5, please tell me it gets better from there. The deeper you get into it the better it gets. I would imagine all the retro-sci fi stuff would have one coming in their pants.....Yes? You still remain pawned by Dexter dear. Dexter is superb. Best telly thing I've seen in ages. Loved it. Oh yeah, that thing, I'd forgotten about that, it was thrilling, as you can undoubtedly tell. Well Bluf was gagging for it. Started moaning there wasn't a second series ready to watch. I'm getting worried about you....Heroes and now you seemed to have convinced yersel Jericho is ok. Best stick to the indi/avant garde cinema love. What you two do in your spare time is of no concern to me. I'll probably give it another go, sometime, anyway.
  25. Well they had that bit where Shilpa said that she didn't think Jade was a racist and then they kind of removed any calming effect that might have had by basically accusing her of being a racist themselves to her face and backing it up with some of the names she'd called Shilpa behind her back - did they show her saying that by the way? So fuck knows what they're going to do, they don't seem to know themselves.
