  1. well ask her what she thinks about the Horizon thing about global dimming I did at the time I think and posted what she said in the thread on N-O, can't remember what she said though, think it was along the lines of it's effect not being strong enough to counteract global warming anyway. Also, there's much more to climate change than simply global warming, which isn't affected by global dimming at all. I'll have a hunt through N-O and if I can find the post I'll copy it on here for you. Don't really want to ask her again because she's my brother's ex and they only split up recently. doesn't sound right, as it's not counteracting warming, it's making it less of an effect, i.e if global dimming were not happening, global warming would be worse Same difference. errr. no it isn't Anyway, were we talking about that in the "Hawking says we need another planet" thread or what? Can't remember which one it was. no idea coun·ter·act (koun'tər-ākt') tr.v. coun·ter·act·ed, coun·ter·act·ing, coun·ter·acts To oppose and mitigate the effects of by contrary action; check. Can't find the thread and I've been back as far as November, bored of looking now, so I'm going to stop.

  4. I'd have thought it'd be watchable.
  5. It's a bit shit, really. (Every time I think about it I like it less ) http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?...74&st=2640#

    DVD Recorders

Is what I've got, can't go wrong for £76.36 from here. It plays and records on both + and - DVDs and CDs and plays Div-X and X-Vid and all.
  7. Wow!! You lot have been busy. One thing you seem to have established is that none of you are climatologists, well neither am I, but I do know one - an Atmospheric Chemist - and she's very worried about climate change. She is certain that it will have very significant effects within our life-times.
  8. Yep. Although they're still nice the Prawn ones used to be better, in fact, all Prawn flavoured crisps used to taste nicer in the past. Probably all the crap they used to put in them that they're not allowed to any more.
  9. Wahey, The Fountain won best music, wish they'd hurry up and release the fucker in the UK!!!
  10. Yeah, I like him too and he is good in this, but he's being a good Idi Amin in a so-so film. I've been thinking about it and that's what was wrong for me: the storyline is weak, there's no getting away from it. Haven't seen it, but I've liked Forrest for a long time. Babel wins....Poor film. Weren't the GGs yesterday? (Monday) No idea watching in German...Understand about half of what the dubbed over people say. Yeah, they were yesterday. Here's who won what if you're interested: http://www.hfpa.org/nominations/index.html

    Who am I?

Phil Thompson. He hates Souness, he's definitely ugly, fuck knows where he was born though?
  14. Sadly no. Don't get me wrong it's pretty good, well made, Forest is good, but not on screen enough - it's basically a supporting role - and the standard of acting is pretty high all round. But, there's very little background, meaning you don't come out knowing much more about Idi Amin than you did before you went in and the central character is basically a self-centred wanker, so you don't really give a shit what happens to him. Actually, the more I think about it, the more issues I have with it, considering it's fiction - the main character is apparently an amalgam of a number of people - a few of the story lines are just left hanging with just a kind of half hearted attempt to tie them up at the end. Altogether, it's not bad, but I was expecting to be blown away and it simply didn't deliver on that at all. 6.1/10
  15. If by 'traditonal' you mean twats getting pissed by 9pm and acting the cock then no but as long as its better than Saalbach was last year, full of fucking foreigners it was! Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant.
  16. The time before I went to Tignes, which was absolutely class. Not that expensive - unlike Courchervel - excellent facilities, although the snowpark's not as good as Meribel's, great snow cover, nice people - a lot less twats - and when we were there it was really warm. It had snowed continuously the week before so the conditions were perfect, but the week we were there it was crystal-clear, it was so hot that when we'd go for a pint at lunch we'd sit in deckchairs and sunbathe, I got really burnt like a twat on the first day. Half the time we'd just dump our jackets and go out wearing t-shirts, even if you stacked it and got covered in snow you'd dry pretty quickly. Best place I've been so far, definitely going back. Excellent news, heading there next month. I've heard the apres ski isn't up to much, what did you reckon? That's probably the reason I liked it really. It's more of a real place and it has proper bars and stuff, rather than touristy stuff, which isn't really what I'm into. For example we were based right up at the top of the valley (Tignes - Val Claret) and we got chatting to the bloke who owned the bar in sort of half English/half French - you know the usual bollocks about footy and stuff - anyway, he was a good bloke and at the end of the night when he booted all the tourists out us and a few locals had a lock-in and a load of free drinks. Also, the ski shop where I bought my board were dead friendly as well they let me use it for a day without paying for it in case I didn't like it and wanted to swap it for something else, it was also half the price I would have paid in the UK. If you are looking for the "traditional" apres ski type stuff there's some of that as well, especially if you go over to Val D'Isere, which is full of Brits - if you like that kind of thing.
  17. Don't worry, the thing they've all forgotten is that they're supposed to hate foreigners, I give them six months before they start trying to kill each other, then the rest of us can sit-back and enjoy the show.
  18. Going to go and watch The Last King Of Scotland in a minute, everything I've heard about it is good, Forest for an Oscar apparently, hope it lives up to the hype.

  20. Sort of reading two things at the minute: A biography of Hugo Chavez and The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy Both are good, but I got a bit bogged down with them over Christmas and haven't got back into them yet.
  21. I went to Courchervel about this time of year a little while ago and it was bloody Baltic, especially if you went over the hill to Meribel, I've never been that cold before!! I'm not joking either, I was in serious pain it was so cold, my hands felt like they'd been burnt or scalded with boiling water. When the sun goes behind the mountains the temperature just drops away instantly, I don't think I'd go back there at this time of year. Anyway, I reckon when people look back at the late 20th/early 21st century, the use of the term "Global Warming" will be seen as one of the biggest mistakes in the history of mankind!! It makes it easy for people to ignore or downplay the situation using the misconception that "it'd be quite nice if it was a bit warmer". It wouldn't!! Millions might die, large swathes of the planet might become uninhabitable, and the pressure on the areas that remain liveable would be immense - if you think immigration is an issue now, give it 20 years and then see what's happening!! Apart from that, there's so much more to "Climate Change" (a better term), just look at the storms and freak-weather we're having at the moment: tornadoes, floods, drought, etc, etc. Get ready for a shit-load more of that over the rest of our lifetimes. That book you mention is probably written by some moron and was likely paid for by the oil companies and their allies, remember when the fag companies used to get "Scientists" to go into court and say that fags were good for you? Well, this is the same kind of bullshit.
  22. Get a glass of water, pour shit-loads of salt in until the water is cloudy, then give it a stir and gargle with it for as long as you can take it, guarantee it'll be sorted by the morning after.
  23. Not long left, thank fuck. Hopefully we should be able to breath-out by the summer.
  24. Nah, you're sound. You're certainly welcome here. Question begs tho when Radgi is back from the local who is the fresh meat tonight? Brock might have some competition. I told you, I'm gonna ban her until tomorrow. And they say we're trigger happy!! Are you an admin on there? Yep. How the hell did that happen? Well, it's a long story, but basically: I kidnapped HTT's mum, blackmailed most of the admin team and threatened phil with a shotgun... ...and I still couldn't get out of it!!
