1. Really? How surprising. 22931 Well, I'm pleased but we do need further strengthening. Owen isnt enough. And someone said that the bloated price is probably down to Newcastle cutting a deal on the Woodgate money.
2. And he's one of the decent ones, is he ? Look at it another way - if they didnt care, and thought him such a "greedy twat" why are they throwing tantrums and being spiteful ? I think your Liverpool supporting mate is making excuses for them not getting him. And talking pure petulant bottom lip spite as a response. Pre-cisely. Gerrard was off to Chelsea or other places when he had a huge wad of notes wafted under his nose, when all of a sudden he decided to stay. In the Liverpool fans book, surely that makes him a greedy tosser. Good point.
3. Even so - I think its an insight into the average scousers (admittedly small) mind at the minute....
4. I paid a little visit to the BBC 606 boards this morning, and bloody hell. I didnt expect them to be even remotely as spiteful and toys out of the pram petulant as they've been in their droves there this morning ! We have had a couple of decent scousers on here chatting about the Owen saga. Imagine the complete opposite of them, sprinkle in the same kind of mentality we STILL 10 years later see from Man U fans on Shearer and you have the Liverpool fans on 606. Unbelievable extreme petulance.
5. I'm very pleased but surprised. But really get the midfield and supply sorted. Its not up to speed is it ? Pointless having the gun with no bullets. But oh yes, it'll be nice to ram this down the throat of the BBC and the media. Ridiculously overpriced though.
6. As the press have a cum-fest everytime we fall flat on our faces be it in transfer fiascos like this (yes, we'll get no Owen !) or in major games, and then spend weeks and even months rubbing our noses in it, I am astonished that the average geordie tends to just shrug it off. If Liverpool man U Arsenal etc fans were given the same treatment by the BBC or the national rags, there'd be bombs being left in their foyers ! Maybe thats why we get shit from the BBC et al.
7. In keeping with usual Citeh propaganda - arent they top supported club this season with an average of 679,573 ? Even their reserves get averages of 100,000 I hear (from Citeh fans)
8. Wouldn't have thought so. 21364 Would he be any worse than Souness ?
9. I agree - we've hardly been rewarded by the players for treating them as something special - check Dyer Jenas and Bellamy if you doubt......
10. Nice to see a bit loyalty. Match this lad up with Jenas......
11. thats a tricky one! VERY much split opinions. Cisse is very popular with many after all he's been through, and there is uproar at the thought he would be sold so soon to fund a deal. There really is some serious arguing going on, and some anger as well, cos Cisse is popular with many Liverpool fans. BUT if it had happened (I feel its well to late to happen now), people would have got over it I'm sure, cos after all Owen is 10 times the player Cisse is. 21576 Thing is - your lot didnt exactly do badly without Owen, did you ? Rafa's not daft. I'd personally prefer Newcastle to go for Kuyt. I'm immensly pissed off with Owen's begging to Liverpool. Hardly sits well for us. But heres the thing - I'll bet we arent still whining at him 'cos he didnt sign for us in 10 years time like Man U fans are with Shearer !!!!! Now they ARE petulant wankers !
12. So when would you act ? Do you honestly believe this bloke is going to get it right ?
13. The problem is simple - an IDIOTIC appointment of the wrong person at the wrong time. Its not even a hindsight thing - almost everyone was horrified at the appointment. Hardly popular. Shepherd had to know Souness wouldn't please the fans. And what a bastard disaster he has been. Far worse than even I thought. And I went on record as saying he wouldn't work, but would give him a chance. The only decision Shepherd could make that is equally idiotic to giving him the job in the first place is to give Souness a contract extension. And my opinion of Shepherd is so ****** low it wouldnt at all surprise me if he did.
14. Exactly. I wouldn't even say Souness was good enough to be termed "mediocre" I am still annoyed that Shepherd gave the job to Souness, I doubt the bafflement and disappointment Shepherd's appointment of Souness made was lost on Shepherd himself though but like everyone else I said "Give him a bit time until its his team. Well we have - lots of players out for little, a few players in at large amounts of dosh, NO goals and ONE point against newly promoted 10 man West Ham. Who were actually a bit unlucky not to take all 3 points. When does Shepherd act ? When we are still looking for our first goal after TEN games ? Propping up Sunderland ?
15. If Souness is allowed to continue making an ever greater mockery of us the only place we'll be "regrouping" is down in the "Championship/Division One/Division Two" whatever stupid name they come up with next. Because this bloke will take us down, make no mistake about that. It may have missed your notice, but NO goals scored, and ONE point against a just promoted team with 10 men. Yeah. Regroup ?
16. Regardless. Bottom line is Shepherd brought this bloke in, and 95% of us were anything but happy about it. He is even worse than we were all expecting him to be too. FAR worse. Shepherd then MUST take the blame.
17. How about Hirtzfeld ? He was available - but Shepherd wanted a "British" manager. And what a wonderful job he's done, eh ? Sold our better players on the cheap and is willing to pay DOUBLE the going rate to patch up the gaps. Fabulous.
18. Thats the problem - its same old crap, all right - but from the manager and powers that be at Newcastle. If you're happy at how things are, fine. Doesnt say much for your awareness, but fine. The rest of us however want action before this bastard takes away Sunderland record low amount of premiership points in taking us down despite spending vast amounts.
19. So what is the answer - walk out ? Then start slagging each other off on the forums, and getting other supporters doing likewise ? Dont be daft. We need Souey OUT thats for sure. But we are not going to for a while yet. Then Shepherd will sack him after the transfer window closes, thereby stopping three quarters of possible managers coming in. This is SHEPHERDS fault for bringing Souness in in the first place. Now out of desperation he is offering ludicrous, idiotic amounts to bring in players that might paper over the cracks. The Rooney humiliation did far more damage than good. We are still being mocked for that - thank you Shepherd. But bottom line. Shepherd brought this twat in. We are 4 games into the season, the club is in a fucking mess like it hasnt been for years, we still havent scored and don't LOOK as if we are going to, and if it wasnt for the makems, we'd be propping up the bastard league despite spending vast amounts, second only to Chelsea. If that isnt managerial incompetence on the grand level I don't know what frigging is. Shepherd brought him in Shepherd is to blame.
20. I just wonder how many other examples are going to surface about the inadequacies of SBR's backroom staff.
21. Liverpool are relying on A/ Owen's begging and pleading to go to Liverpool will have him hanging on til the last second B/ Real want some cash and if it's left to the last second they will accept half Shepherd has offered. C/ Liverpool think they can get him on the cheap because of Owen's fretful bleatings about going back. Can you guess I dont expect him to come here then ?
22. It has emerged that the scouts who had been watching Dirk Kuyt for years had at best been sitting on their hands while the lad went from strength to strength. We could have got him for a fraction of what they're asking for him now if they had knew their job, which clearly they didn't. It would seem as they were under the previous administartion of SBR, (he of the "Mick Wadsworth is a hugely talented coach" fame) they are elsewhere now. Who were they ?
23. Spam or not - he's done a fine job. Its bookmarked, mate ! Useless on Firefox though.
