I'm just aware of how easily people can feign offence, I know for damned sure that my Dad got into trouble for saying the un-pc phrase when there was a transition between "coloured" and "black". a bloke pretended he was offended to get back at my dad for passing him up for promotion. In the hearing my dad effectively said that it wasn't because the guy was black that he didn't get the job, it's because he was a twat. so, yes you're right that these days it's a fucking minefield, but that doesn't mean you should just capitulate. If no offence was meant and the phrase itself isn't inherently racist then I don't see that the bloke has a leg to stand on tbh. if Jonny had said "fook me look how black that nigger is" then yes, he's in for a whole shitstorm of trouble, but it's (imo) no different than when people comment on how orange Dale Winton is. It's only offensive if the person attaches worth tocolour, and in that case the racism is theirs, not Jonny's. but Jonny will have to apologise simply because it's easier. So if you walked in the room and I said loudly "how ugly is that fucker?" to which all me mates laughed wouldnt you be offended?

Im a little surprised that the words "how black is that fucker?" is not seen by many on here as being offensive, the fact it was backed up by mates laughing would have made it look like a total pisstake. Maybe thats just me (and J69), maybe its years of working in the Civil Service or hopefully its just that I have a different view of what I see as offensive or not. What Ive always been told when it comes to Diversity is you should never say something in relation to another person that you wouldnt say to their face, so you need to ask yourselves whether you would go upto the bloke and say "hooo fucker, how black are you?"

Radgee can correct me if Im wrong but from what Ive heard it means that people cannot go and get a case that isnt already on their desk so if they run out theres been stories of them having to put their hand up to ask for more, if they need to grab one from one cabinet to clear it as part of something else then they cant do that either so it gets put to one side til the next day. fookin consultants man, they knaaa nowt!
