Its handy to have although not really essential, it basically provides a quick way to do a Google search, an always present seach box and a few other bits n bobs including a canny pop up blocker. You dont have to register it or have any kind of google or gmail account to use it either. Google Downloads here

Or best bet is to download it as a "Save to disc" and save to a global area such as the C: drive then just install it on whichever account you want.

Have you got the Google toolbar installed in that profile? I've heard of this problem happening a few times because of a corrputed toolbar. Try uninstalling any additional toolbars you may have one at a time to see if that solves it. The standard response of "use Firefox" will suffice if that dont work.

I honestly couldnt say for definite but I would have thought that a modem bought 14 months ago would be XP compatible, my guess is that its because the drivers are specific to Win98. Chances are that all you'll need to do is reinstall the hardware after you've upgraded. At worst you'll probably just need to uninstall and then replug the modem in after a restart. It should find it and install itself or ask you to put the drivers disc in.

hmmmmm. I've installed my broadband connection on the laptop but it wont let me use IE. I can get on MSN without a problem but when I attempt to open Explorer I get a 403 Error - Access Denied by Access Control List. I've checked the standard stuff such as making sure its set to "Never dial a connection" and that its obtaining IP and DNS setting automatically but now Im out of ideas.

I think its just you mate, Have you checked your Internet settings to make sure you're allowing Code? It could be that you're blocking scripts etc.
