Erol Bulut is hopeful that he has done enough to earn a permanent deal at Newcastle. The Turkish full-back has been training with The Magpies over the past few days as he looked to impress manager Glenn Roeder. Bulut is currently with Olympiakos - but he is out-of-contract at the end of the season and will be eligible for a free transfer in June. The 32-year-old has spoken to skysports.com about how things have been going for him in England. "I was told from my agent a few days ago that Newcastle wanted to give me a trial to because they are looking for a player for the left side," he told skysports.com. "I came to Newcastle and I passed the medical exams. Today I took part in the training. I followed all the training, including the practice game and the tactics. "I was welcomed by the players, the coach and the staff. Right now I am with Emre who has told me a lot of things about the club. Everything is perfect here. The facilities, the people, the city. "I will now leave for Athens as they have the league game and they are all focused on this game. "I think that at the beginning of the next week I am going to know if I will sign with Newcastle or not. "My agent makes the contacts and he is going to discuss terms and conditions with them. If I am going to sign, its going to be for two years. I want to take the chance and prove myself in the Premier League playing for such a big club like Newcastle."

So you apply for a job but want us to do all the work for you... No, and its not really a job as it is unpaid. I have my own views on each and everyone and they probs will not differ from most peoples views but the more opinions I get the more accurate what I send off to SI will be. I can't believe how well I typed out the original post, considering I was as pissed as a fart when I wrote it! I am only winding you up. Though you realise when the new one comes out and we are shit everyone will blame you Cant be arsed typing out my opinions just now, when do you need it by? And don't be too harsh on Parker mate

Much like Jimbo part of me would like to be closer to friends and not have an 8 hour round trip to the matches every other week but living out next to Loch Lomond is a beautiful place to stay and would much rather be here than in a city.

Shite compared to getting Queens Park promoted from the Scottish Third Division tbh..
-
What was the reason we were not interested in the likes of Campbell again? Only going to show much like the signing of Sib that Roeder doesn nothing but talk shite..
-
To be fair though, even when he has a good game, you rant on about how shite he was. He's not overrated because of his passion either, he's got plenty of ability too. He's having a fucking mare at the minute though I will admit that. They all are tbh, thats why I think its really hard to judge how good or bad Gooch is. He has came into a side that has been not only changed practically week to week but is playing some absolute shit football.

Oguchi Onyewu may have to turn to a busy summer with the United States if he fails to win a new deal with Newcastle United. The American defender must prove his worth to Glenn Roeder in the remaining seven Premiership fixtures of the season or face a trial by tournament assessment with the States in his country's Copa America and Gold Cup campaigns. The defender will come up against the cream of South America's attackers in Venezuela, with the US participating in the competition as invitees along with their bitter rivals Mexico. The Copa America kicks off at the end of June but the States and Gooch will already be into the full swing of things because they will have played the Gold Cup in the US. It means that Onyewu will either be playing to showcase himself for his future or the 24-year-old will be getting in plenty of match practice to start his first full pre-season with the Magpies. He told the Chronicle: "I have two tournaments coming up in the summer in the Gold Cup and the Copa America. "We are defending champions of the Gold Cup and we start that in June. "Directly after that we have the Copa America which is a great tournament. "There are some great teams like Brazil and Argentina playing in it and it is a renowned tournament. "I aim to perform to a level that gains the respect of these sort of teams." Onyewu's arrival at Newcastle has resulted in him playing six games in a Toon shirt but he was dropped to the bench for Saturday's defeat against Man City. Nevertheless, the on loan Standard Liege player is still becoming accustomed to life on Tyneside and even though there are several teams in Europe monitoring his progress he has underlined the fact that winning a contract at Newcastle is his main priority. And that means he has ruled out the chance to take on David Beckham in Major League Soccer for now. Gooch added: "I'm optimistic about the future. "It's hard to say whether I'd follow David Beckham over and play Major League Soccer - I am happy playing in Europe. "America is my country and I would never rule out the MLS in the future if it arises. "David chose to do that and he is coming into it at a time where he has played at the top level for so long. "I guess he is there for other reasons and those are being to raise the standards of the game in the US rather than him playing at a high standard. "America is a growing League and it has only been there 11 years. "You can't compare it with any of the European Leagues which have been around for up to 100 years or more. "The MLS is a project that is growing and thankfully it is on an upward spiral in terms of player quality, hopefully in 10 years we can look back and say we have made great strides. "Right now though I'm quite happy at Newcastle."

Newcastle United young gun Andy Carroll has caught the eye of Scotland after continuing his rapid development in a black-and-white shirt. The Gateshead-born 18-year-old scored last night for the reserves in the 2-1 defeat against Everton in Widnes but was being scouted by Scottish Under-21 coach Archie Knox. Geordie striker Carroll is thought to be eligible to play for both the Scots and England due to his family roots and has come on leaps and bounds. Carroll has bagged goals at Academy and Reserve level this term as well as being one of the stars of Joe Joyce and Kenny Wharton's junior side that reached the last four of the FA Youth Cup. In a season to remember, Carroll also became United's youngest European debutant at the tender age of just 17 years and 300 days during the 1-0 UEFA Cup win over Palermo in Sicily. Last month he also picked up the Wor Jackie award at the Sport Newcastle dinner. And there is a distinct possibility that Carroll may add to his four first-team appearances before the season is out, especially with £17m star Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi still on the sidelines and United's Premiership goal drought stretching to 380 minutes. Scotland senior boss Walter Smith, Ally McCoist and Knox are committed to a long term re-building programme with the national side north of the border but England have already shown an interest in former Joseph Swan School pupil Carroll. The 16-goal striker is still classed as an Under-18, yet with Scotland and England both having European qualifiers at Under-19 level next month, there is a possibility he could cap his season off with a taste of international football.
