  1. when we finish runners up in the premiership I may review it.
  2. one swallow doesn't make a summer. What are you going to say when the club don't attempt to move further forward and sell their best player and witthold cash from the manager again ? Are you still going to say this is "progress" ? Meanwhile, as you are happy to say that the club has gone backwards in the financial tables and in real revenues too, what exactly do they have to do to restore these lost revenues as compared to our rivals ? Three steps backwards and 1 or 2 steps forwards isn't long term progress.
  3. at the end of the day, its just a title. Baggio bought into the theory that the DOF was responsible for all the signings and sales of the club, thus rendering the appointment of a manager irrelevant and giving the club the continuity factor ie the manager assumes the role of "coach" as happens on the continent. I said that all the DOF was [including the role of Sir Bobby which of course retaining him as a scout was an excellent idea as well as a statesman] in effect a Head Scout but the manager of the club was the all important figure who was responsible for all the hiring and firing of his staff and the signing and selling of players, because ultimately it is his job on the line and his job rests on how he does in the transfer market and the expectations and demands of the clubs directors/board/owner. Baggio disagreed, he said that the club ought to incorporate this DOF policy, and as such Wise should be kept at the club rather than Keegan because this system was more important than the personnell. Of course, its the personnel who matter most, not the system. A club with a manager who knows what he is doing will be the club who gets success, relative success according to their standing and expectations, irrespective of the "system". So, I'm not bothered about the "system", it is the manager who counts in my book. He can employ a Head Scout and call him his "DOF" or whatever title he likes.
  4. The only relevance it has to now is the legacy of debt that still exists. And by the way there were at least 4 absolutely shit seasons when Shepherd was Chairman so this "golden decade" shite really is that. paranoid rubbish. We weren't relegated for starters, and qualified for europe more times than we ever will under your man. It's crap like this which makes me laugh. If you had supported the club as far back as you claim, you wouldn't even need to be told the difference in outlook and ambitions. It sticks out a mile.
  5. Carroll left NUFC for a progressive club, same as Enrique. Carroll hasn't had the best of starts to his Liverpool career, he may even move on, but he's won one winners medal and may play in another Final. Good luck to both of them. I understand their reasons for moving, even if small minded people do not. I am pleased NUFC have done well and even better without them, so far, but would be even happier if they were both still here and/or the manager was allowed the full money from their sale to improve the team as much as possible. Edited later for the benefit of Jon, and anybody else who can't read.
  6. Now then Jon, untrue accusations are frowned upon, Fish - and others - will bollock you for that. I haven't been to the pub today. You silly little boy. And - I don't care who the owner is when we are playing in europe, Champions League, reaching Cup Finals, keeping our best players and backing the manager [ahem]. I just think such heights will not continue for too long, or even reached in the first place. Anyway, what is wrong with going to the pub ? Do you prefer spending the afternoon in IKEA or something ?
  7. I'd say to some extent he is. They're fucking shite and wasted millions. They've won a mickey mouse cup that anyone can win (Birmingham, Blackburn, Leicester etc etc). We have a genuine chance of playing in the Champions League next season. Mickey mouse cup? Fucking hell, I would love us to win that trophy so would everyone I would think. Proves the petty jealousy and sour grapes without a doubt.
  8. Two good managers not good directors - the fact that they appointed shit managers who failed and fleeced the club for millions proves that. Yes the bigger picture - in debt with credit running out and no chance of investment as the summer of 2003 and the following years under Souness and Roeder proved. No need for psychic ability - shit league positions and millions wasted - no hindsight required. this is what I like the desperation to point out the "hatred of Fred" to the extent that a whole decade is almost irrelevant.
  9. I enjoy finishing 5th in the league, or higher.
  10. Still been to more games than you since 1980 as I've saiid before so that doesn't wash with me - looking down on people who might not go now for any number of legitimate reasons makes you a twat. There are also thousands of people who go to every home game whose knowledge is non-existent. There is no direct correlation no matter how much you think there is. Maybe people booed because the club was obviously going backwards in 2004 and thy're happy now because it's going forward - not that you would ever see that. you don't know you have been to more games than me. If anything, it only makes it more astonishing that you didn't understand or appreciate good directors and what they did, and can't see a selling club again when it stares you right in the face. Going backwards to 5th ? Says everything about your lack of appreciation and higher perception of the bigger picture, if you actually seriously don't understand the implications of that.
  11. Why don't you fuck off and support the progessive cunts then. Newcastle United's support rose massively when they behaved like a progressive club, like Liverpool, chum. The club we have today is down to that. Does the truth hurt ? Aren't you mature enough to admit it when it is obvious ? The sour grapes shown towards Liverpool, Carroll and Enrique in this thread is pathetic.
  12. I'll let time prove who the wanker is. In the meantime, I've enjoyed going to games this season, enjoy it while it lasts - rather than moan on about going bust and ending up as a supermarket - have you enjoyed going to games this season ?
  13. That makes me doubt you've ever been to a European away game - to seriously think tickets are limited or anybody who wants one can't get a ticket for any game is fucking laughable. It is also shows you think spending a few quid makes you somehow superior to other people - what a fucking wanker. going to games tells its own story. If you seriously think it has no bearing on knowledge of the club and awareness of what it takes to succeed in football, then you are the wanker. Please explain the difference between booing a team for finishing 5th and wanking yourself to death when they come 5th or 6th years later ?
  14. Except for the bits that you can't stand by. Like when you said that NUFC would never qualify for Europe through the league as long as Mike Ashley was here. Or when you predicted earlier on this season that a collapse was in the offing. And plenty other stuff that you've got spectacularly wrong, to the extent that you're now shifting the timeline on all of your predictions to a broad rush "I'll be right eventually" If anyone could be bothered, and if there was a remote possibility that it might get you to admit just how wrong you've been, we could fill pages and pages on here with all the stuff that you've got wrong. Of course, you could say this of most people on here - no one gets everything right all the time, and intelligent people can accept when things change. But there's neither need nor point in doing it for anyone else, because no one but you is so idiotically steadfast in trying to claim how right you are, and how you've always been right. You aren't right. You haven't been right. Everybody knows it. And you look an utter shambles of a cunt of a man when you consistently insist that you are. one swallow doesn't make a summer. Fool. You have had chances to reply to my summary of what I have been saying for nearly 5 years and passed them up. Why don't you go to games and back your man with your own cash, rather than constantly acting the knowledgeable supporter on here, when you know fuck all ?
  15. Andy Carroll must be really regretting this move, and what a load of money Liverpool have wasted last summer.
  16. Actually I think they were, my memory is that he effortlessly dispossesed someone as his first defensive involvement while I sat smugly smiling to myself. Cut to later in the season against Portsmouth and my look had changed more than slightly. Steven Taylor is a good defender who loves a block and is very handy at corners. Throws his body into defending which can be both a blessing and a curse. Never fit for long enough to fully establish his credentials unfortunately. To be fair to him he looked very good up until the Portsmouth battering and he went to bits from there, not that I recall saying what Leazes claims I said and he really isn't in a position to point the finger when he thought Souness was a top boss and better than Keegan. better than Keegan ? Didn't you also say that we were better off with Wise than Keegan and keeping that DOF system like Spurs also had at the time ?
  17. with 25m quid burning a hole in the managers transfer kitty, which is not being given to him ? I don't think so. You should answer all those questions, if you really want to substantiate that absurd claim you are making. Basically, they have moved the goalposts, gone backwards and set up lower forward expectation levels. In a nutshell, that is spot on and time will prove it. They have gone 3 steps backwards, gone 1 or 2 step forwards again but it all stops here. Enjoy it while you can, because they will not build on this by keeping their best players and backing the manager. Which is fine if you want to watch a financially stable club sitting in the premiership without reaching out to stay among the top places, but people who actually go to games and support the club by putting their cash into it tend to have a different priority.
  18. haha, nice achievement and a good season, the first in 5 years. Shame you don't answer what I have asked you on numerous occasions concerning the longer term direction of the club, instead being one of the fools who are completely deluded by the short term. Including when I asked you to bet me that we don't match the longer term positions of Spurs, as you appear to agree with those who think we are "doing it like Spurs", or even the old owners for that matter ? I stand by what I say and have said that you have rubbished for years. The club is an advertising outlet for the Sports Company, which comes first and always will. He will sell players if the club don't make operating profits, ie he will not attempt build on the current situation by keeping the best players, adding quality and backing his manager. Why don't you tell us what you disagree with here instead of rubbishing it ? If you really want to make daft childish references to me, having supposedly blocked me, then go the whole hog and reply to all my references to yourself. All you are doing is making yourself look an even bigger tit than you are. How embarrassing you are, and what a shame you have missed all of it through not backing your man by attending games. FWIW, I will be going to see NUFC play away in europe next season, and unfortunately for you the current season ticket holders and club members will - hopefully - get first priority for tickets.
  19. I would of thought being a Newcastle fan you wouldn't need to ask how good he is. Or are you a Ben Arfa fan that follows Newcastle because he's here? didn;t you say that you thought Cacapa was the best central defender on the books at the time he was here ?
  20. and see post nr 2 by yourself so what exactly is this "guff" ?
  21. you're sounding more like me all the time. Well done. That's unfair, Dr Gloom does not sound at all conceited. but he's learning. Faster than most on here too.
  22. Poor management meant we lost revenues, I reckon we are missing about £20m in commercial revenue. poor management ? Maybe it's deliberate ? So how do you think this will be made up again ? What about the clubs that have overtaken us ? How have they done it ? Don't you think the money from the sale of Carroll has been used to cover this "poor management" ? How much money ? I thought he was a financial whizz kid ? How come he has took it backwards at all from the hopeless owners who he bought it from ? Has he taken the club backwards in terms of financial expectations as well as on the field ambitions ?
  23. What Williamson has is height and power in the air. He'll give anyone a battle in the air, and as long as we have Coloccini sweeping up behind, he's an adequate back up. Simpson on the other hand, is nowhere near good enough. He rarely cuts any crosses out, he rarely marks his man (instead preferring to man-mark the goal line, on the off chance that he manages to clear from the line). Add to that, he offers literally nothing going forward (often making a negative contribution as he ends a swift passing move by lobbing a cross straight at the keeper, or kicking it into touch). He could do a job for a team in the bottom 5 or 6, but if we aspire to stay in the lofty heights of the top 6, we need to find someone better. With Ben Arfa on right midfield, a good right back who can cause problems going forward would have a whale of time overlapping. I feel sorry for you. Your optimism and your judgement of the players is fine, but your utter delusion is quite sad.
  24. what happened to the 14th biggest revenues in football ? We dropped a few places. Happens. but what happened ? How many places ? How much money ? I thought he was a financial whizz kid ? How come he has took it backwards at all from the hopeless owners who he bought it from ? Has he taken the club backwards in terms of financial expectations as well as on the field ambitions ?
