  1. arse licking knacker. FWIW, both Trophyshy and Stevie have made great posts, but Gemmill and mancmag have both made the same juvenile rubbish and reflective hindsight based nothingness respectively. Neither of them have the balls to answer what I asked them, and are even in Gemmills case pretending he hasn't seen it. Pathetic, and lets down an adult forum, or one that is supposed to be. My view, after reading Stevie's and Trophyshy's post, is that the time to actually start thinking that they may have turned the corner and learned how football works, is in September, IF they build on this season by selling NOBODY and putting 2 new players straight into that team. The money is there. No bullshit from Dekka saying it is elsewhere, show us the ambition and the desire to move forward. This is what I've always said actually, despite what the 2 forum clowns and an assorted bunch of others claim, and it isn't true that my view is "entrenched", its how football works that is entrenched. If the club do this, I'll give credit where its due which I have also said I would always do, and as I have 2 more years of my season ticket left, I'll be looking forward to it a little bit more. Meanwhile, the knee jerk reactions among some people still make me smile, because they have done nothing yet, but I suppose that depends on how high you are aiming. Bore off thanks for the intelligent debate.

  3. respond to the post I put to you and the other clown a few weeks ago, if I'm so wrong. Fool. You ran away from answering Gene Clark too didn't you ? "Taking it personally", you phoned him up ? You're the ultimate hypocrite.
  4. everybody is in debt. Not many clubs have the 14th biggest revenues in football though ...........
  5. this "claptrap" is what you have described that I've told you for years, that you won't respond to and tell us exactly what has not happened that I said would happen. In a few years time, what I;m saying now will be happening too. In fact, qualifying for europe will only accelerate the realisation that the club will not strengthen the team but continue to sell top players and witthold backing from the manager, because if we qualify for europe we will most def need a stronger team and squad to cope with the extra games and "progress in the top flight". Or are you so dim you say this is "claptrap" too [because this is what I'm saying, meaning you clearly haven't read the updated thread before this post] I've actually said this today myself too, you utter bellend.
  6. anyone who knows anything about football will know what I'm saying, because I've been saying the same things for years. if we keep all our top players, and speculate to improve the TEAM with the rest of the Carroll cash as it is still there to be given to the manager, plus any more from selling players surplus to requirements, plus what should be a normal transfer budget for a club with the 14th biggest revenues in football, then we SHOULD progress. This is not rocket science. Do you comprehend ? Why so hung up on the money? Cisse and BA are both superior to Carroll, he's been replaced with better players. Why does the cost matter so much to you? sigh. If the money is there, to FURTHER improve the team, and has been there for 18 months, why not spend it ? Doh. How many times.
  7. people just won't be told man. What do you think of post nr 2663 by the way, if you want to discuss something sensibly ? Because whatever your "opinion" or any other poster, this is how football works and how successful clubs are successful, not by selling your best players and not backing your manager with the money.
  8. Their best players this season have been Gerrard and Bellamy, net cost £0. Their transfer policy, with the exception of Enrique, has been complete gash. People getting hung up on the costs rather than the quality need to get a grip there's always next year
  9. anyone who knows anything about football will know what I'm saying, because I've been saying the same things for years. if we keep all our top players, and speculate to improve the TEAM with the rest of the Carroll cash as it is still there to be given to the manager, plus any more from selling players surplus to requirements, plus what should be a normal transfer budget for a club with the 14th biggest revenues in football, then we SHOULD progress. 10. Concentrate on your driving ffs. don't let the facts and/or a bit of research get in the way of an "opinion" A rather moronic one at that too http://www.dur.ac.uk..._et_al_2008.pdf
  11. nobody is arguing that certain teams in the world just can't be turned down............. never have either.
  12. do you mean if we use the rest of the Carroll money to strengthen the team without selling any of our major players ? Don't prejudge me, but do you EXPECT the above to happen ? It would be foolish to expect anything under Mike Ashley IMO. well, don't prejudge me then. I'm telling you what direction the club is taking, and it's obvious.
  13. You're using hindsight, anybody can use hindsight. Certain other posters do it all the time. At the time, they backed their manager, and tried to get Ferdinand and it took 6 months to get him [not 18 and we still haven't seen the money, don't you think that we are not going to see it now and it was never the intention accordingly ? This is the bigger picture. A progressive club would have bought a centre half in January for starters with a european place on the horizon and cash in the bank waiting to be spent, even a small amount on a short term deal while waiting for the guy they want [which incidentally was done after the sale of Cole ie Kitson]. And we still haven't replaced Enrique btw. This 'rubbish' you keep going on about? You've just added to it with that claptrap. So you're saying this: If FFS sell a player and don't replace him until 6 months down the line, that's ok because they waited for their man. If Mike Ashley doesn't buy a defender in january, that's not ok because we're not a progressive club anymore. We've also replaced Carroll with Ba & Cisse, with money left over to buy a centre back in the summer. So if we sign a new CB in the summer, will you admit to being hopelessly wrong on this one? if we don't sign players without selling, and if we don't match Spurs in the forseeable future, will YOU admit to being hopelessly wrong, as 5 years clearly isn't enough time for you to see what is right in front of you ?
  14. No, he won't. do you mean if we use the rest of the Carroll money to strengthen the team without selling any of our major players ? Don't prejudge me, but do you EXPECT the above to happen ?
  15. I don't really think everyone acknowledges "the bad things" at all, I think some people are just completely deluded. I am the most positive minded person you could go to a match with, because I am not blind to where improvements should be and how to improve the club and what it ought to do, and I am aware of the size of the club and the ambitions it ought to hold, unlike what appears to be the vast majority of other posters. Enrique went for a reason, and this season or on Sunday, it may seem he is incorrect but in the longer term, as things stand, there is only one progressive club and he is currently playing for that more progressive club, with a Cup Winners medal already on his mantelpiece, and another semi final coming up, and already qualified for europe, in return for their outlay as some people are keen to point out has been "wasted" Mark Lawrenson gets some flak on here, but on Sunday night, he said what all Newcastle supporters ought to know or be aware of, which is that Mike Ashley may think he can carry on selling players and have a season like this. He can't, and he won't. And the bigger picture is that it will prove he doesn't see the build and improve policy and isn't really interested in following it, when he can sell a player if they don't make a profit, however small. Does Mark Lawrenson have more awareness of the true situation at NUFC than many of the clubs supporters ? Maybe he is echoing the thoughts of his co-presenter Shearer ? Maybe Shearer ought to be telling us this rather than Lawrenson ? If supporters ARE aware of this and concede the policy, I don't for the life of me see how or why anybody can defend it. In my mind, that is not positive at all, its as negative as you can be.
  16. Fair point. But nice to have the option! If we're going all out for a CL spot, I would imagine we'd push more for that too. Thats the point though. The difference in income between the CL and EL is huge and not worth the disruption to the league season with the squad we have as it stands. Nobody has mentioned anybody leaving in the summer, which will undoubtedly happen iyam, and nobody has mentioned bedding new players in and the effect that could have. I'll say this again, Llambias has already said he wants a smaller squad and this is also the club whose bosses who thought we could do without central defensive cover once Taylor was out for the season. You lot cant winge one week about Perch having to play centre back then argue that we're well equipped for an assault on Europe the next with him still in what may be an incresingly smaller squad.Theyre releasing about 9 players this summer aren't they?. I can't beleive some of you have been taken in by the last couple of weeks. 2 swallows dont make a summer...our league posistion will suffer next season on the back of 30k crowds v Metalurgist or Litex fuckin Loveggs...its not fuckin worth the grief iyam. Consolidate in the league next season then have a dig at the europa when we've had another summer of re-investment would be a wiser move iyam. just saw this and while i don't think being in europe can be bad, there are some good points. Basically, if the club qualify, they need to further strengthen.

Right, Leazes. Answer me this with either an "A" or a "B", nothing else. Completely ignoring transfer fees, who would you rather have wearing the number 9 shirt right now assuming we could do a free swap? A - Andy Carroll B - Papiss Demba Cissé in view of everything I've tried to explain, this is a pointless question which only proves you haven't tried to understand a single word. Why not have both ? And who would you rather have at left back, Jose Enrique or Jonas Guittierez ?
  18. You're using hindsight, anybody can use hindsight. Certain other posters do it all the time. 19. Keegan made it quite clear he wanted to adjust the style of the team which mean't selling Cole and re-shaping the attacking style and strategy. Whatever Cole did at ManU, it was the managers decision, he thought Ferdinand was the man he wanted and it was possible to get him to do that, and the board backed their manager. End of story. It really stops there. This is how good football clubs operate.
  20. in that case Tom, where is the rest of the Carroll money, which could have made the difference between 6th, 5th [certain europe] or even 4th or a springboard to go for 4th ?
  21. so where is the other 25m quid ? After the first transfer window in 5 years where we bought a decent player and sold nobody, lets see what happens in the summer and see if we see the rest of that cash and nobody is sold, to reinforce your utter delusion. ps Bolton also bought Anelka for 8m quid when they were [temporarily] in the UEFA Cup. pps. I don't care about the advertising either, if the team is doing well and the owner backs his managers, but it DOES emphasise the points I've made that the 2 forum clowns have said are "rubbish". LM, in the past FFS and the Halls took million out of this club and used it to feed their other business (I assume you know about the fleet of cars etc). But you know what? I dont give a fuck because the Halls had us doing well in the league which is what matters. They sold players I didnt want to see go (Ferdinand, Hamman, Domi, Robert, Ginola, Tino, Woodgate etc) in many case the player didnt want to leave (Ferdinand) and in many they did want to leave for "bigger and better" (Hamman, Woodgate) and in some it was just the manager who didnt want the player. Again, while pissed of at the time I didnt mind in the end because what mattered was that we progressed. Ok, until we didnt. The latter years of the Halls the wheels started to come off, but overall what happened on the pitch was positive so we ignored the off the field stuff (though some did rumble about it). To me, same applied here. All sorts of shite he does off the pitch. Yes I was pissed off at selling AC but now I look back and think "fair enough". Remember, Halls sold Cole. Should we not have kept him and added? They asked us to be patient and see what followed. It worked on the pitch in the end so everyone was happy. For all I hate MA and the way he has abused the name of the club, it is difficult to not see the sense in the way the finances have been restructured. Yes I hate the Sports Direct tat, but when we are doing well on the pitch who cares? Yes I hate the fact we sold AC, but look what AC is doing now and look as Cisse alone never mind the rest of the players that came in. Fact is, when MA came in he took us backwards. but now I feel we are in a place further ahead than when he took over. But he's still a cunt, but then so was FFS. Sometimes, JawD, I think you are the only one on here with any sense, which isn't true actually there is a small number of others who also have some sense but you are certainly the only person apart from HF who has replied to me and contributed sensibly to this thread lately. From a footballing angle, and it IS a football club we are talking about, Cole being sold is entirely different to Carroll. Firstly, it was the managers decision. Secondly, they gave him ALL the money and more to do what he wanted to do with the team as a whole. Enough said. I've said a thousand times, I don't care either what people take out of the club, the old regime did well and they earned it because they gave us the best team and the best years in the last 5 decades. If Mike Ashley matches that, he can do the same, he can put Sports Direct logos all over Northumberland Street for all I care, but my view is that he won't and the signs are crystal clear what he wants from the club, what the limited ambitions are [which I've explained AGAIN or where the limited policies will get us] and they have been obvious for years.
  22. shame. You're losing the opportunity to listen to common sense and what is right in front of your nose. People ask me to tell things that are based on knowledge of following the club for nearly 50 years, and that is precisely what I am doing.
  23. Well said. We've dropped plenty of points this year simply because of shitty defense being played because of injuries. With no European football it's likely that the squad will reduce further and we'll still have the same issues. At least let our points be dropped because we're in Europe of course. How can it be a bad thing to qualify for europe ? It should be a launching pad to more in fact.
  24. We may finish 12th we may finish 6th again. Nobody knows. The bottom line is that qualifying for the Europa will as you say be a great reward for players, managers, directors and owner and I think will be welcomed by most fans. getting your excuses in already before the summer sales
