It is interesting that the longer Souness stays at Newcastle, the more money we seem to need to put the club back into a good position ..... An awful lot of people were saying how good Boumsong was going to be, now Luque, total 17m quid for a pair of expensive foreigners.... Still they want more, and more money. Firstly, Souness says he wanted to go because he felt he was living in a goldfish bowl. Now he says he wanted to go to be nearer his friends. Just the latest in a long line of story changes from Souness.... I really don't know how much more proof is needed that Souness is a compulsive liar, nicely sitting alongside being an excuse maker, incompetent, ego freak, bully and totally useless, and has manipulated situations to suit his version of events to tell lies ever since he walked into the club

Well, I'm rarely defending Souness, but I can't see what was wrong with his statements. Owen's goals are his job insurance and the statement that defenders must be scared of playing against such a prolific is banal.
