1. No, but Everton did. 65041 I rest my case! 65042 We will see if Luque performs as well for Newcastle as Bellamy did 65237 That's a bit of a stepdown from "Luque - crap" tbh 65266 No it's not, there's no point making these changes if they don't improve your team, and this one won't. And so far, all of Souness changes have left us worse off, on and off the field.
2. I quite like the idea of a Director of Football and I think Keegan would excell in such a role at a club like Newcastle. That is the only way I'd like him back, ideally. Our current DOF if you like, is Freddy Shepherd and he's proved where his brains are, in finances, not football. As a manager, KK is a very good manager in my opinion, but not good enough for Newcastle or to take us where we need to be as absurd as that sounds given how he actually took us to where we are today. If KK for example were in charge of the football club however, with a manager or coach underneath him who trains, selects and writes up shopping lists, he has the drive, ambition, passion, personality, intelligence, confidence, belief and respect of everyone in Toon, to transform the club's way of operating. I would be far happier with the club in KK's hands than anyone elses, as a manager, it's a fickle game so results could go either way, i.e no guarantee of success or aiming to achieve success, as a DOF I just couldn't see us losing if KK had passion for that type of role. A return as manager, I'd be concerned and I would hate for his memory to be tarnished if he came back and failed which, lets be honest, would be likely. Again, it would depend on the manager whether it would work. I personaly believe a combination of Keegan and Shearer could well work. Short and long-term. People forget, Keegan isn't just a good manager, he's a very very good businessman and a media personality too - he knows both game's inside out. He could own a club outright and bring success that man. And hey, who knows, he may need the practice... 65274 I would be more than happy to put the club in Keegans hands, very happy in fact, but if the team manager is shite the results etc will still be shite mate. Look at Fulham, he was DOF there and Wilkins was boss, and they were nowhere, it wasn't until Keegan took over running the team that they took off and got promoted.
3. There is highlighting his failings and then there is downright bullshit. And there is a lot of that in this thread concerning not only KK as a manager, but his time at United. 65160 you know what HTT..I think it's extremely sad that people can find so much venom towards 2 individuals {keegan and Bellamy] who gave everything to this football club, [who they no doubt thought were great for the club when they were here] now that they have gone. So, so sad. An unbelievable u-turn in both cases, why didn't they tell us all these huge character flaws they have, and how crap and destructive they were, when they were both here ? 65249 WILL YOU FUCK OFF ABOUT CRAIG BELLAMY MAN??? 65263 No. Basically, if you still can't see it, the problem is that Souness is still here, and we are worse off than when he came. And fuck off yourself you stupid cunt
4. .... what, you mean Souness causes his own problems. Before you answer, look at the league table, and the bickering among Newcastle fans that has resulted from his managership

6. ..... as many as Souness did ???????
7. you're absolutely right, Keegan wouldn't have been stupid enough [or a prick] to sub him when he was the best player on the field
8. I'm not sure if the whole Director of Football thing (if that's what you are advocating) works really. The roles of him/the manager have to very clearly defined. Would a manager be happy with KK being at the club too? I think, giving the history he may well be perceived as a threat. 65129 Totally agree, the Director of football thing is a load of bollocks. Keegan is a man manager, to be something else is a waste of his motivational skills, he may as well be a tea boy
9. No, but Everton did. 65041 I rest my case! 65042 We will see if Luque performs as well for Newcastle as Bellamy did
10. We're ahead of Blackburn - Bellamy's making all the difference there like! And Luque - crap?? S'pose Ronaldinho would be shite as well? 65015 no. Ronaldhino is the top player in the world. Don't understand how you can compare Luque with Ronaldhino, there is no comparison ..... in my opinion Luque is as likely to be as successful as Craig Bellamy was, as Ameobi is to captain England. There is no point in making these changes to the detriment of performance on the pitch, it's money down the drain, big money too, but shows the managers judgement to be incompetent along with his managerial skills, but we all know that, and even that is indefensible to those of you who have backed him. Fact is, you are clinging onto the hope that he will come good, under Bobby Robson, when Bellamy [and Robert] were here you looked at the league table, but you've now been completely taken in and spat out by Souness' propaganda. And you know it. 65021 Another "you must worship Souness if you knock Bellamy" thread from you there I see Leazes? I'll say it again. If you back the manager, you are by defnition backing his changes. If not, why are you backing him. In Bellamys case, he is the single biggest player to have left the club, with the most influence on the team, so like it or not, it is central to how Souness has been judged, and his teams results and performances. We will see. As for Henry, there is a vast difference between bringing in a young player making his way up in the game, with a manager from the same country as well, to a player approaching his late 20's and needing to adapt a game and lifestyle he has adopted for years. I am surprised some of you are taking this attitude, I thought you would have learned your lesson ref Kluivert. see above. Souness had proved himself at all his other clubs. He was shite. A bully, and a confrontational arsehole who put his own ego before the club.
11. Unlucky?? You can the manager a 'fucking prick', you call him a 'fucking prick' whether it's seen by the manager or later on camera. The whole TV audience saw what he called him (arguably worse than the Beresford situation). Most players probably have done something similar, most will have got a bollocking for it, most would accept it.......not Craig Bellamy though! 65017 he called him a prick, so what ? He WAS a prick ! Example of Souness' hypocrisy is the time he subbed Dwight Yorke for Blackburn and they stood arguing on the touchline, Souness said after the game he wanted players in his team who got upset when they were subbed, as all players should want to play. Explain how you see this .....

13. sold within 2 years for half of what we paid - max
14. Quite correct. One in the eye for those who say Bellamy put himself before the club, and Souness didn't. he's lost and he knows it. Or at least, he's lost the football battle. In comparison with people like Keegan [and Gullit] who resigned out of an honour, it makes Souness look like the twat he is [or should do]. In Gullits case, I was glad to see him go [but nowhere near I will be when Souness goes] but he won my total respect for admitting that he had got it wrong, failed, and waived the remainder of his contract accordingly. Question is, especially for those who consider Keegan a "quitter", what would you rather see now. Souness being honest like Keegan was, or hanging on for grim death to screw a few million more quid out of us ? the sooner the better. Significant that Oliver has changed his stance, although it's pretty much expected .......
15. stupidity plummeting to new depths I would say. Just when I thought the local press were beginning to see the light at last Maybe it isn't only the football team that we should expect to be surprised by
16. no contest whatsoever. Zoggy dwarves all of them.
17. Luque, crap. Owen, overpriced. Emre, good. Solano, good before but the 2 forward players have changed. We will see. It's a figure of speech anyway, you know he got rid of our flair players, but he's spent 30m quid replacing them !!! Can't take an amount of money like that lightly ... Now wheres that fecker Shepherd who doesn't back his managers .... EDIT: and, I forgot to mention results ! Meaning...he hasn't replaced them very well has he ?
18. this was obvious since day 1. Lots of us said he would get rid of our flair players, turn us into a team of midfield sloggers, and didn't want it, then suddenly some appeared to agree with it. The trouble with the Souness backers is that, they deluded themselves he would succeed despite all the evidence to the contrary and now won't admit they were wrong. Oh well, at least those of us who were right, have the consolation of being right.
19. hmm ... can't wear Christian symbols in our own Christian country ... Some people said this would never happen .... Come the day we aren't the bigger numbers, I'm sure other religions will show us the tolerance that we are showing them, don't you think ?
20. Taking that into account, I put it to you that had Keegan been the manager that day at Charlton last season, he'd have reacted along the same lines as Souness did. The main difference between two incidents is undeniably the player. Beresford showed remorse, apologised immediately and then publically and overall, knew he was in the wrong. Bellamy to this day will think he was right and justified - he wasn't. Whatever we think of Souness, and yes I can stand the bloke - he deserves the respect of his players and if they don't offer that, they deserve to suffer the consequences. 64714 For Dyer, see the post to Gemmill, and note that the 2 incidents regarding Bellamy were before Souness came, whereas Dyers were not. And I don't think Bellamy calling Souness a prick is any way a disruptive influence. Why do you ? It's simply an insult directed towards his manager, and as I said, Souness puts this, his ego, before the club, if that were not the case then Dyer, and Bowyer, would also be gone. If Keegan had sold Bellamy, I would have trusted Keegan, because he proved he put the club first, and he exercised better judgement at buying and selling players, and the timing of buying and selling players. It's what happens on the field, is where you have real influence. Where it matters. There are plenty of players over the years who haven't respected Souness, why is that do you think ? Any why do you think he has a right to it anyway, he doesn't.
21. Totally agree with you there (as i always do on the Bellamy issue) 64709 Dyer hasn't been a disruptive influence whilst Souness was at the club. Bellamy was and he got turfed out for it. Perhaps Souness was rash - maybe even he regrets getting rid of Bellamy - but Bellamy fully deserved to go for the way he carried on. 64710 nowt like pissing in the street and fighting with your team mate on the pitch then Bellamys nightclub and chair throwing were however, before Souness arrived ....
22. 64704 ? bit early for you gem ?
23. Bellamy was wrong to get involved in the chair incident, and the Cardiff nightclub. I'm not making excuses for it when I say that Dyer has been involved a lot more unsavoury incidents than this. As have other players at other clubs, Rio Ferdinand for one - who is still at manu. Bellamy WAS a catalyst for the rise of the club on the field - where it matters - a proper manager would have helped him focus better. No one is perfect, we all have personality traits. The simple fact Craig is that Souness didn't kick Bellamy out because he was a "disruptive influence", he kicked him out because he crossed him personally. The presence of Dyer at the club proves that without any doubt or discussion whatsoever. Hence, Souness doesn't put the club first, he puts himself first. You may have wanted Bellamy out before Souness came, thats your choice, but until we do better without him there is no justification for letting him go, especially when you weigh up the financial cost to the club that will be involved when all the dust is settled and we reach the Champions League again, if ever. Is it worth it ? This is the question. Bad, incompetent management all round in my view. But some of us also said this about Souness when he was appointed at Newcastle, and before.
