Brock Manson 0
Working on a playlist myself. Not for a CD as she did me one for xmas and I don't want to seem like I'm nicking her idea. 57 songs on it so far. Try these: Paolo Nutini - Loving You Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter Eagle Eye Cherry - Falling In Love Again Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me I also included Enrique Iglesias - Hero as it's pretty much our song. I won't be singing it this time though. It’s great to know that I can always count on you Brock to draw the attention away when I set myself up to be shat on. At least I haven't put Lady in fucking Red on it.
Happy Face 29
No cheesy love compilation is complete without I Just Called (To Say I Love You). Craig 6670
Lady in Red? :D Seriously??!?? Are you trying to serenade her or put her to sleep? Well, I don't want to put her to sleep that's for sure....! I think its a canny song.
Craig 6670
Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - (I've Had) the Time of My Life Chris de Burgh - Lady in Red Lionel Richie And Diana Ross - Endless Love Phil Collins - A Groovy Kind of Love Personally can't stand any of the above, but then that's just my opinion Why don't you have a look on Amazon at all the compilation lovey-dovey CD's and see if there are any tracks that you want to add on? If you want a personal recommondation for something then I think one of the beeyootifullest love songs ever is "She" by Elvis Costello. If you want something a bit different Billy, try "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds....

It's hard to fall asleep when crushing your CD player to dust in a furious rage.
Gemmill 44090
Lady in Red is blatantly the non-pharmaceutical version of Rohypnol.

Meenzer 15342
Cracking thread. I'd make some recommendations but a corresponding CD for me and the fella would be all country music and wrist-slitting Eastern European Eurovision, so I doubt it'd help you much. If you're looking for more mainstream stuff though, something like Leann Rimes's "On The Side Of Angels" or Shania Twain's "You're Still The One" are nice and warm without being too nauseating. The latter is more suited for a couple who've been together for years and years though, so if it's not been all that long you might want to leave it off for fear of freaking her out completely. Guest Patrokles
I made one for my own girl a few weeks ago but it's probably not entirely appropriate, since it was made specifically for the situation at hand, which isn't ideal. I don't personally believe in making generic mixes. If possible the songs should be specific to you and the situation. ie, Lady in Red would be apt if she's ever worn a red dress and danced with you. Otherwise it's just another song.

Guest Patrokles
But if I were to make a generic multi-CD mix of love songs, encompassing both the good and the bad parts of it all: Terrified- The Devastations Make It With You- Bread or Dusty Springfield, whichever version you prefer. Being in Love- Songs: Ohia The Kiss- Judee Sill John the Baptist or Somethin' Hot- Afghan Whigs So Right- Allen Clapp & his Orchestra The Purple Bottle- Animal Collective The Downtown Lights- The Blue Nile One Crowded Hour- Augie March You & Your Sister- Chris Bell (only works if she has a sister who doesn't like you) Blue Moon- Big Star Ever Since You Told Me That You Love Me- Tiny Tim First Love Never Dies- The Walker Brothers What I Can Do For You- The Czars Don't Drop Out- Dolly Parton Raining in Darling- Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Will The Night- Low I Feel the Earth Move- Carole King (I Want You) More Than Ever- The Clientele Good Friday- CocoRosie 8PM on a Friday- Currituck Co. Big Brown Eyes The dB's (only if she has brown eyes) 'round & 'round- Dear Nora I Cried Like a Silly Boy- DeVotchka Tell Me Why- Dion & the Belmonts Put You to Sleep- Dolorean You're So Fine- Dorothy Berry Love Power or Live Here With You or a number of others- Dusty Springfield Other Girls- Eux Autres Little Bit Of Rain- Fred Neil The First One- Gary Valentine Fluid- The Gerbils Kom Igjen Lena!- Håkan Hellström (I Keep a) Close Watch- John Cale Hi Dear- Jonathan Richman All I Want- Joni Mitchell Forest Fire- Lloyd Cole & the Commotions Sunlight in a Jar or Under the Rotunda- The Lucksmiths I Left the Light On- Madeline Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits- The Magnetic Fields I Still Could Not Forget You Then- Michael Hurley Sweepstakes Prize- Mirah Love Came Tumblin' Down- Monks I Could Run Away- The Jayhawks No Children- The Mountain Goats (bitter love song) Do The Best You Can- Mouse & the Traps Scary Footsteps- The Movies Wild is the Wind- Nina Simone The Party's Crashing Us- Of Montreal I Can't Help Myself- Orange Juice Silent Motion- Paul Haig Changes- Phil Ochs Favorite Thing- The Replacements Restrained in a Moment- Royal Family & The Poor Love is Pleasin'- Shirley Collins & Davy Graham I Have Known Love- The Silver Apples Let Me Get Close to You- Skeeter Davis In a Manner of Speaking- Tuxedomoon Don't Go Away- Talulah Gosh Reason to Believe- Tim Hardin How Can I Apply?- Trashcan Sinatras Pop Songs Your New Boyfriend's Too Stupid To Know About- Tullycraft Crystals, Shirelles, Shangri-Las, Ronettes, all did a plethora of love songs. More teenage-y though. ETC ETC. There are zillions. Just pick whatever's most apt.
Toonraider 0
It's know it's all commercial shite, but its only one day and your only buying for one person so its not all bad. I guess it all depends on the couple's tastes, but certainly it seems the majority like to make a night of it. Anyhoo, swiftly moving on! I'm trying to be a little creative this time around and have put together a CD, amongst other little gifts. Here's my track list so far. Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - (I've Had) the Time of My Life Chris de Burgh - Lady in Red Joe Cocker - You Are So Beautiful Lionel Richie And Diana Ross - Endless Love Phil Collins - A Groovy Kind of Love Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss a Thing Bryan Adams - Please Forgive Me Bruce Springsteen - Secret Garden Robbie Williams - Feel Elton John - Your Song Eric Clapton (Cream) - Wonderful Tonight I think I've done pretty well, but would like to add more to it so was wondering if you lot have perhaps a song in mind I've missed out that should be there? I have missed out songs like Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers & Between The Sheets by the Isley Brothers as, well.....they are a bit too soppy for our tastes. I love the idea of compiling special songs for your lady, but honestly, that medley would have me slashing my wrists and begging for mercy Theyre so dated, cant you find some more up to date love songs?
