If any decade was musically bereft it was the eighties. The Stone Roses released a very interesting but hardly groundbreaking album and then followed it up with a Led Zep clone of an album that was shite.

yes but The 2nd Coming was mid 90's so doesn't really count

ahhh the 80's, such memories...well what I can remember the time time from 86 thru to 88 seems to have disappeared. Lets see now.....

Films......

Risky Business

Weird Sceince

Ferris Buellers days off

Breakfast Club

Music......

Some classic records came out during this time, things such as

Depeche Mode - Just cant get enough

Erasure - Sometimes

New Order - Blue Monday

Peter Gabriel - Big Time

B52's - Love Shack

Visage - Fade to Grey

The there was the birth of the home computer, ZX81, VIC 20, C64, Spectrum, Amiga..

I was a Commodore kid, you couldnt give a rubber key nah, I wanted a proper keyboard with a matching tape deck. I had a VIC20, C64 and then an Amiga still the C64 was my fave learnt the wonders of computer music and my first ever sight of a multimedia program where someone had taken the Aceeed music and stuck some freaky flashing imgaes and smilie faces to it.

and seeing as they released their debut in 89 you can hardly call it 80's music even though, before anyone jumps in, it was released in the 80's. They really exploded 90 /91 anyway and rereleased the singles from 89.

When I think of the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Charlatans I think the beginning of the 90's. It all ties in with me leaving school and getting fked up ..happy days

To be honest, I only watched it for the kids tumbling down the hill on their bikes, quickly followed by tumbling St Johns Ambulance geeks. :)

We have had a fair few of there over the boards (and years) so heres another to discuss all your favourite things from the 1980s..

I used to think it was all shite, but it's not really.

Some of it's a bit cheesy, but quite good. I quite like some of it. I blame that on getting Vice City a couple of years back.

There was some really good stuff as well. The Clash had a couple of good albums out in the early 80s (although Cut The Crap in 1985 wasn't great). And there was New Order and The Smiths of course. Later on you had The Jesus and Mary Chain, and then Primal Scream of course, and then you had The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays of course. I don't like a lot of Dance music these days, but stuff from the late 80's, early 90s was canny. Ride On Time, which was 1989, I think is the best Dance tune ever.

Other than that:

SCHOOLS PROGRAMMES

Look & Read. Must have been watched by just about every kid in Primary School in the 80s.

At my school we watched Dark Towers, Badger Girl, Fairground, and of course Geordie Racer.

We thought Geordie Racer was class cos it was set in Newcastle and people were speaking Geordie, and to see that on the telly when we were kids was a bit of a novelty to us.

http://www.lookandread.fsnet.co.uk/stories...ndex.html#clips

I also liked the educational songs that were in all the series, especially Magic E and Bill The Brickie. I remember on Geordie though instead of "Why don't you build yourself a word" the song went "Why divint ye build yersel a ward"
