Next car will probably be an s2000...

Perhaps then you'll realise what a sports car is.

Well I regularly drive my Dad's Evo fq300 so I'm already fairly clued up.

I don't think nor have I claimed that my car is the most superest around but for my age and what I can insure it's probably the best I could have done.

That's not a sports car either though is it? You're aware of the generally accepted definition of a sports car?

It's not a hatchback though.

Same chassis though, right?

What about the camshaft, cylinder head, pistons, turbo, intercooler, clutch, gearbox etc?

If two components are made to exactly the same specification, but during their working life one has 30% more force exerted on it, which would you expect to break first?

I wouldn't expect any of those components to break, and most certainly not in the period of time I'm likely to own it...

Same chassis though, right?

No? Obviously not...

Do you think GM make a special floorpan for a niche model?

Clarkson described it as a 'supercar'. Why wouldn't it be classed as a sports car? It's used in Rallying, which is a sport, last time I checked.

:icon_lol: I don't know if you know what my job is, but it involves manufacturing car chassis and I can guarantee you that they aren't the same. Even diesel and petrol models of the same car are different, let alone a different shaped car!

Your fatha is blatantly having a mid life crisis, it explains a lot :icon_lol:

He has no need for midlife crisis knowing his kids are successful and not ugly. What are you going to do when you have one? Learn to drive? :icon_lol:

How old are you Thompers, serious question. You've got to be under twenty, otherwise there is definitley something wrong with you.

The fact you're responsible for attaching the heater knobs on Nissan Micras doesnt make you a specialist in car chassis :icon_lol:

What a fucking prick the Thompers wanker is!!

He sounds like the sort that pulls up at the lights with his go-faster stripes, arsehole twicthing like a rabbits nose as he wonders whether he's spend enough of daddies pocket money to get the required amount of BHP to burn off the average car at the lights.

Wall to wall Vin Diesel posters in his bedroom and his mam and dad's house I reckon, he's too fast and too furious for me!!

Get back to hanging round Silverlink car park of a night time with all the other pork knuckles who live their lives through their motors.

Tosser.

The generally accepted definition of a sports car is two-seat, two-door, front-engine / rear-wheel drive, lightweight and relatively simple to give the driver the purest driving experience. It has absolutely nothing to do with top speed, rallying or hatchbacks with coupe body-shells on. I would have thought you would know that working in the motor industry.

My clearly misguided idea of a sports car would be one that competes in a sport, like the Evo :icon_lol:

Best go rallying in a Mazda mx-5 instead :icon_lol:

A car may be a sporting automobile without being a sports car. Performance modifications of regular, production cars, such as sport compacts, sports sedans, muscle cars, hot hatches and the like, generally are not considered sports cars, yet share traits common to sports cars. They are sometimes called "sports cars" for marketing purposes for increased advertising and promotional purposes.[3] Performance cars of all configurations are grouped as Sports and Grand tourer cars, or, occasionally, as performance cars.
