A perusal of the SMB, 606 and other forums would have you believe that we're petulant little sods who have been stamping our little feet for some time because we believe we have a right to success. That we're in strop because things aren't going our way. Excuse me if I say a gigantic What!?! into the proceedings. Where has this come from? I'm aware that them lot south of the Tyne have a very dim view of us (probably expected) but everyone else seems to have this viewpoint. Every lad I know, have met or just talked to in passing who supports Newcastle has an hopeful, yet ultimately pessimistic gallows-humour approach and has done for some time. Nothing seems to quite go right for us and we know it. Is it because of last season? We know when we've been messed about and we will let you know. Not by leaving the stadium half-empty for most of the season (Boro and Sun'lun: this means you, yer fairweather gits) but by protest in numbers. Does this somehow come across as 'deluded' (copyright: every fucker) to you? I should hope not. All clubs fans should have every right to say what they feel and not to 'just accept things' because that's all they're going to get. And sometimes they do and it works. Villa and even 'them lot' are examples of this. When it comes to us, however........ I wish I knew what it is that makes people see this in us because I sure as hell can't. Ah well. Champions League money is a self-fulfilling prophecy for the top 4 to a large degree, but we've still got a fair bit of financial clout without the complete need for an Abramovich/Thaksin figure.
