Organisers of the Northern Masters have now confirmed the appearance of Paul Gascoigne in the 2009 veterans football event on Tyneside.

After runouts in recent charity games at Darlington and Dunston Fed, Gazza has agreed to play for the Newcastle side - rejecting overtures from the Middlesbrough camp.

Newcastle go head to head with teams of smog, mackem, Darlo, Hartlepool and Carlisle old boys from 5pm on Sunday June 7th at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

Team squad:

TBC

Brian Kilcline

Kevin Scott

Alex Mathie

Paul Gascoigne

Kevin Gallacher

John Beresford

That's a class team! A beastly defence too :o

I wonder how Gazza will do?

If past form is anything to go by, he will develop an injury just before.

Hopefully, he really is getting better and will show.

I saw him play in a testimonial at fratton park, about 10 years back. Played the whole second half with a pint of guiness in his hand.

...funny at the time.

That Toon squad is class. Shame Pedro is too chubby to play nowadays.

Still prefer him to Frank Pingel

Don't talk of that Man Utd supporting tosser... Fucking turncoat.

Not a chance :D

I reckon Stroller will be turning out for us in about 10-15 years assuming we've managed to shift him out of the first team by then

I bet he's great in 5-a-side as well.

I'm wondering who the keeper is likely to be. Tommy Wright perhaps?

Even better.... :D

This Sunday sees the return of the Northern Masters tournament to Tyneside, as a team of former Magpies go up against their wearside & teesside counterparts plus teams representing Darlo, Carlisle and the 'Poolies.

And after having previously confirmed the appearance of Gazza and Temuri Ketsbaia at the Metro Radio Arena, the organisers have now booked in our popular former goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek to appear for the black and whites.

The tournament gets underway at 5pm this Sunday and tickets are on sale here, priced at £15 (U16/OAPs £10).

Other old boys participating lining up for the event include Rob Lee, Kevin Gallacher, Brian Kilcline, John Beresford, Kevin Scott and Alex Mathie.

Former Mags in other teams such as John Hendrie and Rob McKinnon also feature, while familiar faces in opposition lineups include Dean Windass, Niall Quinn and Colin West. That poison dwarf Gabbiadini is also showing his ugly mug.

I still can't get away with Pav, even in events like this. I know most of our fans love him but for some reason I can't seem to share that love that they do for him. It's very much irrational of course.

next seasons transfer targets

They'd still be quicker and pass more accurately than most of the current first 11.

About 4 years ago Rob Lee (who may be playing according to .com) was in the team and we walked it - I expected us to win the whole thing but he didn't make the nationals.

Judging by Ketsbaia last year with Lee and possibly Gazza we should be fucking laughing.
