Tim Krul Will Play Against QPR

CHRIS HUGHTON today confirmed that Tim Krul will play a part against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

The Dutch stopper has not featured at first- team level since the controversial FA Cup exit against West Brom back in January, when ref James Linnington made a string of hotly-disputed decisions as the Mags crashed out.

However, Krul will be aiming for happier memories when he takes on the Rs.

Krul has found it difficult to get past Steve Harper this season, with the long-serving keeper in outstanding form this term.

And Harper will go into next season once again as the undisputed No 1 despite the presence of both Krul and Fraser Forster.

But Hughton told the Chronicle today: “Tim will certainly play a part.

“It is an opportunity for him, but I think out of all the youngsters he will be the only one.

“We’ve been big enough and fit enough all season to manoeuvre the squad and get through it.

“The team we play will be a team picked to win the game.”

It remains to be seen whether Steven Taylor will be given the green light to be part of the squad against QPR, with the defender looking ahead to a potential reunion with pal and ex-team-mate Peter Ramage.

But Hughton will be without Jonas Gutierrez, who has been given some time off to return home to Argentina this week ahead of the World Cup.

And Fitz Hall is injured and misses out on playing against his parent club.

Hughton said: “Like every game this season, it’s one we want to win.

“We’ve had a lot of targets.

“And perhaps the last one of those targets is to get 100 points.

“That’s what we’ll be looking to get beyond on Sunday.”

good game to play some of the youngsters. But it would be nice to get a point and reach 100.

Hughtons call. I won't criticise him if he gets it wrong though, he deserves all the plaudits he is getting.

What a fucking awful article. Harper in outstanding form this season?? I can't remember anything out of the ordinary from him tbh. His 'fans' will point out at the clean sheets but the defence is as attributable (if not more) to that than Harper IMO.

I'm not Harper's biggest fan but he has kept us in a few games this season.

And he's cost us some pretty shit goals too. He's average at best. Certainly not 'outstanding'...

He has, especially over the last few weeks but I can't remember saying he had been outstanding.

Harper is a good premiership keeper, not the best. But with Enrigue, Guittierez, Taylor, Carroll is a player we must hold on to, in fact none of these players should be thinking of leaving but that is another debate altogether.

Other players such as Collocinni, Smith, Nolan,Guthrie, Barton, Williamson and Routledge all have premiership capability but it depends how high you want to go which determines how happy you are with them.

Good.

Shame CH says he will be the only one as i'd like to see Kadar, Vuckic and Spear get some time on the pitch too.

Spear's only played once for the reserves, so I think that's a bit of a reach.

Someones been playing FM

Agree. Getting past the 100pt mark would be great, but the things that mattered (promotion and the title) have been secured. I too would take the opportunity to play more of the fringe players whatever the result.

I'm not precious about the win (although, I'm sure those of you making the trek will justifiably disagree with me) and it would be nice to give those players some more experience - particularly Krul and Vukic.
