Always being a little intrigued by Cornwall but never got their yet and wondering is it worth it?

Have a nephew who used to go for the surfing but from a family trip point of view, is it worth the hike.

Any recommendations of towns, places etc?

well, its a fair old walk from Newcastle :)

I like Cornwall. St. Ives, Falmouth, the coastline around St. Austell (St. Austell itself is a bit of a dump).

Newquay is Blackpool with surfers in the town centre, but there are lots of little coves and the odd National Trust beach either side of the commercialised bit.

The drive is ok as long as you don't mind setting off at about 4am or something. The mad bit is when you get to Exeter, the end of the motorway network & last services and realise you've still got 100 miles to go.

there are service stations along the road west of Exeter - maybe not great big M-way ones but not too bad

and its dual carriage way and no roundabouts all the way to just above Truro IIRC

Here he is Alan fuckin Whicker, oh dear.

just trying to be helpful my boy, just trying to be helpful

Tiverton and Cullumpton are more places where they like playing banjos and give their sisters a certain look :). A good friend of mine was with someone from Tiverton, and he had that inbred look about him.

Don't get in any trouble in nightclubs in Exter-they might be Marines, or recruits.

Plymouth is also full of Her Majesty's Navy and other retards

It's a close run thing down there - the Navy in Plymouth, the trendy middle class kids in Rock, the great British seaside in St Ives and New Quay, the "arts darling" brigade along the coast, yachties in Falmouth & St Mawes and the up country Neanderthals in St Austell and Redruth

someone to dislike for everyone TBH

Went to Newquay for a stag do the weekend just gone and it's safe to say I will never go again. Apart from the surfing which was a laugh everything about the place is pikey.

It was a massive sclong fest with hardly a women in sight. Just gangs of pissed up stag do's looking for bother. Not what I was expecting at all.

That does sound shit considering the distance involved.

Also I hear toonraider is head of a gang of 'grockle-bashers'.

I made up an excuse not to go to a stag-do in Newquay a few years back as it sounded shite, plus I only new the bloke who was getting married. They went 'coasteering' or whatever it's called when you jump off cliffs and stuff and he ended up wtih a hairline fracture of the spine and ended up having to spend weeks in hospital and postponing the wedding.

I can't work out whether this conversation is going - argument, shagfest, or both.

Tell me where you want it to go and I'll make it so.

You'll be near the big donkey sanctuary, that is in Sidmouth. Good place to take kids I think (not been there myself).

Yes I am very near the Donkey Sanctuary, my other halves family work there.

Newquay should be avoided we always go to Polzeath which is very good for surfing and Perranprth which has a great OZ style beach bar.

I still prefer North Devon!

I've only been to the Exmouth/Exeter area, and Plymouth a couple of times. Plymouth isn't worth visiting. I worked with someone from Newquay, and he hated it as it was full of drunk pikeys and tourists. No jobs there either other than working in a pub.

See, this is why it's all so complicated. On Gaydar you'd just tick the box marked "versatile" and Bob's your uncle (or daddy, or Special Bear).

I live in London but it was still 5 hours (6 on the way back on the train) - I want the weekend and the 400 notes I spent back.

Now that's just perverse. :)
