He did absolutely fuck all of note in his protracted time as an MP other than hold back good people like Paddy Cosgrove imo. Thankfully the last tory MP ever to win in Tyne and Wear I believe. Tynemouth MP, define "achieved" because he plagued us on behalf of his less well off constituents, which is what an MP should do. Well he was before my time really but my impression from my parents was he wasn't a good local MP. I think it's on record he barely ever uttered a word in parliament. MPs of that length should be able to point to something they have done. Also, I disagree that somehow back in the 70s people voted on the basis of locality. If anything back then it was much more partisan and people voted for the party of their class. The map was red in the North, Blue in the South, with a few brummy cunts swinging it for Thatcher in the middle. A vote for Trotter was a vote for Thatcher. I would never vote Tory for any reason under any circumstances, ever.

And I never said the bold bit or referenced the 70's but it is a fact that just about solely thanks to Southern England we have had Tory PM's/Governments. Rayvin 6730
This video showed up in my feed and I immediately thought it would be some sort of right wing nonsense - but I watched it anyway and the guy is actually really good and tackling the issue legitimately, including HS2, housing, all sorts. However, I don't know that much about this area, so if anyone can be arsed having it on in the background at any point, I'd appreciate a view. He's pretty easy listening. Fairly non-political, and yet...

If he had any balls he’d start the ball rolling on electoral reform because that’s the only chance of a progressive-led coalition in four years time. (Not the Starmer’s Labour have done anything particularly progressive). But he doesn’t, so he won’t.

It's a manifesto point for them isn't it? Could be the necessary evil we need to get fucking rid of this two party system once and for all.
Dr Gloom 24762
Reform are going to romp home aren’t they with both Labour and Tories haemorrhaging votes. 2029 might be the year to emigrate
Rayvin 6730
Yeah just checked, Reform are committed to PR. That's the one silver lining here tbh. Starmer might well be too chicken to do it but Farage will because it'll represent his complete and total victory over British politics. I might actually be willing him on with that Fucking hell. Am I allowed to say "naive" here? If farage wins that's the end of the UK. He's promised the moon on a stick because that's what these popularists do, but I wouldnt expect him to honour a single election promise. A reform victory would simply be the final nail in the coffin for this country. I know you're incredibly despondent about the UK at the minute but I for one still feel things are worth fighting for and want a future for my children. The political landscape is incredibly unstable at the moment. Starmer has made mistakes, which he has admitted and apologised for, but the vitriol against him from all sides is off the scale. He doesn't deserve it imo. And Farage will NEVER be the answer, I would never trust a word he says. Edited 1 hour ago by Renton

wykikitoon 24536
Was riding with a mate on Weds and he said his wife had just been made redundant. She is a teaching assistant and he blamed it on the rise in NI. Well that's what the school said too. He was saying that she may have to go on job seekers and that isn't much. He then had a rant saying the government need to get those sitting on their arse into work and stop sponging. I couldn't get my head around it. Here he is saying it's fuck all yet the others are sat on a decent screw. He said he's always been a labour voter but he's not happy with Starmer.
