My biggest issue is that the charging port always fills with fluff or lint or whatever and that means connecting to the car is a bitch. What I need, I guess is a car with a pad to mirror the screen without needing to connect a cable.

Yeah, go through the BL website and it links you to Samsung with the discount applied. I think it affects your trade in though, hence I sold elsewhere.

Nice one cheers. I've still got a code for the discount off the Pixel 9 so I'll see if she'll use that first. She might bristle at the idea that I got the Pro and she didn't, but nothing a good BACKHAND won't sort out.

A car with Android Auto is what you need. It works wirelessly so no need to plug in and you basically get your phone mirrored on the screen but optimised for driving.

I mostly drive a 2020 Polo, which has Android Auto, but you have to be all cabled up.

Honestly, I've tried with all manner of household stuff. Last time it became unworkable I took it to one of those dodgy phone shops on a high street. Bloke tried to charge me £20 after he'd taken 2 minutes to clean it all out with one of those cans of pressurised air. Cheeky bastard.

It shouldn't be. My 2019 focus worked with wireless android auto. I wonder if it's the age of your phone that's the issue?

I think the wireless element depends on the car, not Android Auto / Apple Car Play. I've got one of the QI chargers in the car and a MagSafe case for the phone so I'm never plugging anything into the charge port any more. My car doesn't have the wireless element but I got one of the dongles off the internet that you bluetooth to. Works a treat

Nice one, good time to swap phones a few months before they bring the new flagship out. 

 

There used to be big jumps in functionality from one phone to the next, but all they're doing these days is slight tweaks to the camera. All the big stuff just comes as standard now, so being one year out of date means nowt.

Depends on the method. MagSafe supports up to 15W. It's as quick as a standard charge. 

Quickest method is to use a 65W USB-C laptop charge. Screws up the battery life though.

I have a 30W charger but I think Apple limited the 15's charging speed to 25w. Takes me about half an hour to go from empty to 50% which is decent enough for my needs.

Apple has a massive issue with battery temperature which is why they limit the power rating. They could almost do with water cooling.

Ahh, that probably explains why the battery life on my s22 knacked, kept plugging it into the laptop charger via USB-C.

I think there's a new generation of batteries coming out isn't there (silicon carbon), already used in some Chinese models. I can easily get a day out my current phone, even with very heavy use. Today I've surfed on here, used it as a GPS tracker, played 3 hours of music, watched 30 mins YouTube, taken 3 photos and it's currently on 84%.

Had problems for weeks with charger not working and was delighted to pay £20 to have it cleaned properly yesterday.

 

Also can not see the point in buying a new phone these days unless it’s knackered. Just no extra tech improvements worth forking out for.

 

Probably not buy again until they get the beam me up feature.

There are major improvements like. Really useful AI, like I can record, transcribe, and summarise meetings instantly.

And the cameras are phenomenal. Record video, long press and its slow motion, for i stance. Professional quality macros. AI tomfoolery. And this probably won't show up on here that well due to size limitations, but here's a photo of a ship I took at 1x, 3x, 10x, 30x and 100x zoom.
