  1. It still makes me chuckle that we mugged West ham for an extra 2m.
  2. I think we send which ever gets the best offer out on loan. If Norwich get promoted Forster should go back to them.
  3. The Mail are running with AC Milan being interested. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1358074/
  4. Carrol wasn't our best player, its Tiote by a mile. HBA is also better. Jose and Barton are on par.
  5. just like the good old days. Still, its all "business". The good old days didn't have Bosman, it's called common sense same rules for everybody. Run the club like Netto, and your best players want to go because they see it for what it is. Just like your good old days. There's a fact of life that you need to get your head around. When and if certain clubs come calling you just are not going to be able to hold onto your players. The summer will be the test, if he gets sold to someone like Villa or Everton THEN you can rightly whinge. I think selling our top goalscorer to Liverpool for a record fee is a basis to "rightly whinge. Obviously you don't - but tell me when this last happened rather than the other way round when we ourselves bought the best players from other premiership clubs, something which the vast majority of people came to expect and something which someone your age should understand better - assuming you really did support the club in the 70's and 80's as you claim. First bold bit -then if you think £35m for Carrol should not be taken then you are a fool, not to mention the fact that Liverpool are still seen as a "monster" club, wrongly IMO but that's life. Not having a plan B was whinge-able but the sell decision, at that price, was a no brainer. When did that happen, when we bought the top 4-6th placed (you know the teams I mean) best players ??? you're a fool if you think you should sell your best players. You're also a fool if you think that Liverpool should be buying our best players. Liverpool were the most successful club for a lot of years, but selling them [no to mention the likes of Spurs and Villa] our best players for career and monetary reasons ? The last owners bridged that particular gap, and you're an even bigger fool if you can't accept that. You're also a fool - again - if you think we will see anywhere near that money invested in quality footballers as happened with the sale of Andy Cole as the managers decision I see you are completely avoiding the topic - every time - of supporting the club prior to 1992 ? They attracted you didn't they, now you criticise for not winning the title ? What "sheer" hypocrisy.....which answers your last point perfectly. Andy Cole out, Shearer in. Who's the fool now?
  6. Fellaini I've always thought was massively overrated, would you have him in front of Ben Arfa, Tiote or Nolan. Arteta doesn't look the same this season at all, and as I said no way would I have him in front of Barton. Cahill would be a possibility though, but only to play off a big front man, but Distin wouldn't let that greedy mercenary near a black and white shirt again. Phil not sure if you go to games regularly but I think that's a bizare statement about Nolan being carried, truly bizare, you have people calling for him to be in the England side on one hand, him being carried on the other, the truth is in the middle, but he'll always give us goals. Unless it's a corner or he's having a chat with the ref I don't notice him that much. Where as Barton, Jonas, Tiote, Jose and Simpson are constantly on or looking for the ball. Maybe i'm being overly critical, but when Barton was suspended the whole balance went out the window and i think that was largely to do with him collecting and distributing the ball as a central midfielder something i never see from Nolan. I'd love to see the GPS stats on how much ground each player covers.
  7. Arteta and Cahill would make a big difference to our starting 11 as Nolan is carried in most games. Rodwell is certainly their biggest asset.
  8. Its a catch 22. You dont spend and try to reduce costs, squad deteriorates or you vastly increase debt to chase the four golden places. CT - ref the sub title of this thread - I don't derail threads. When this subject pops up, I point out similar to what you do here. If you want the "four golden places" it costs big money. Failure to accept this means you are accepting being also rans. NUFC are not also rans, well they are now, but shouldn't be. Its also a fact that many members of message boards [not just this one] wanted us to be run like Everton a short while ago, fuck knows why. Reality of football finance ? This is the reality of football finance. Clubs have debts, you have to accept it, its part of the game, and it won't change until players wages etc are capped or something, which will never happen. And even then, it would still disappear down a black hole as will be the case with our 35m quid for Carroll. So if you were an Everton fan you would advocate getting into more debt? Your case for Newcastle using debt to increase turnover is valid. I don't agree with spending 7m a year on servicing debt, but you are entitled to your opinion. But you surely can't advocate it for Everton? We should be all over them like a rash trying to get Rodwell.
  9. Is correct. So basically, the only way to do it would be to do the opposite of what Shepherd did, put money IN to the club Actually not sure it is correct, the greater risk to Ashley is the option involving him dipping into his personal wealth. The greater risk to the club is the option where he doesnt use his own wealth to invest. Doing things on a shoestring is the least risky option and the most prudent for Ashley but risks survival in the league. What is at risk is the initial investment but that already been heavily discounted and he's also seen the club bounce back from it once. I know what alex means and i agree, its just there is more than one 'entity' under discussion i.e. Ashley and his private wealth and the club. I see what you're saying. Surely he'd have to dip into that personal wealth if we went down. I think it's all a bit moot anyway given the course he's apparently set on, i.e. reduce costs as much as possible. When Ashley first came to the club we signed Viduka, Smith and Barton all on unsustainable wages. Most people liked Mort, but I thought he was a disaster. His mismanagement of the books ultimately led to the appointment of penny pitching Llambias. I think its a bit early to say we will always be run on a shoestring. If that was the case Taylor would have been sold. What happens with Barton and Jose contracts in the summer will indicate which direction we are going in, as both seem to be enjoying their football.
  10. If Jose doesn't sign a new contact in the summer he will rightly be sold.

    Internet Speed

Everyone is getting the same problem. Wish I had thought of it whilst I was at home and then could have set up some sort of a connection to the network there. Oh well. How does sharing my home connection work exactly? EDIT: Also, I guess the connection and speed issues mean that online gaming is a big no-no? I dont think you have speed issues, but a bottle neck on establishing the initial connection. I don't play online gaming so i'm not sure if it makes a connection and keeps it open, I suspect it would. What speed test results do you get? RDP is easy to setup, just port forward 3389 (http://portforward.com/) on your home router. To connect to your home PC Microsoft program built into window. "> Start > run > mstsc". Just tye the IP address in and it should work. Most routers these days support dyndns which will allow you to connect to a domain name instead of an ip.

    Barcelona

A very good read. No idea how this turned into a debate about 12 year olds being snatched grinch style. Barca players are almost all local. I don't know if it's still in place but under 16's have to live in a clubs catchment area. If families are willing to move i dont see the issue. I think every effort has already been made to improve the under 16's. We'd be better off running "coach the coach" days to improve the level of training in the whole area. Maybe even setting up a Newcastle United youth league. Where pitches and coaches are sponsored to ensure a higher standard. Investment in the academy squad 16-18 has already shown it can produce players, so I'm sure its already on the radar.
  13. I accept the risk. We lose the ball almost every time it goes to Williamson under pressure. Both Collo and Jose would look towards Harper before they put their laces through it.

    Shefki Kuqi

You can't recall in the first month of a loan deal. Pardew said at the time Xisco would be allowed to leave the club as we'd let him down, but if no-one wanted him they'd both agreed to a clean slate. I cant see Xisco wanting to come back and if he's not on-board voluntarily it would be a disaster. Unhappy Xisco or Kuqi, its a close call...
  15. I don't know why anyone would seek attention by making themselves look stupid, unless it's direct deprication for a bit carry on. It shouldn't be about attention anyway it's to share good views on NUFC, and debate points, and CT could argue that's what he's doing. However a post like the OP is like debating that Adolf Hitler was a good thing for the Jewish world. which bit man All of it the full thing. The thing that makes me laugh is you're basing it one game where he was by no means our worst player, in a game the whole team produced one of THE WORST first half performances I can ever remember they were all dire, Tiote looked lost even in the first half. I'm too busy to discuss this pish at the minute, but the whole post is pathetic. I disagree with Phil too Jose has worked well on the left the reason it's not as potent is because Jonas' form has dipped playing against better right backs, it's not Jose's main function to attack although when he does, he does it well. It might not have been clear but I thought I'd said the same. The link up play going forward has took a step backwards, but defensively Collo and Jose rarely hoof it. I don't like to bash Jonas as we play him out of position.
  16. While his link up play with Jonas hasn't worked too well this season, his interplay with Collo has come on leaps and bounds. My biggest concern with Jose is Fulham targeted him for his extra touches. They were on him like a rash. I'd be interest to see how he copes when more teams start to do this. Although the return of Ben Afra will certainly changes the dynamics of how teams approach that wing. Lennon switched wings as he was getting nothing down our left.
  17. Tiotes pulling the strings and wearing no9
  18. In todays climate we were always going to break the wage structure (45k a week) to keep our best players, Bilyaletdinov came out of the Lescott money and alot of our big name signings (Fellaini) for example we are paying Standard Liege 3m a year for Since the beginning of the premier league we have a net spend of 6.8m outside of player sales and youth player sales that just isn't good enough Here are the facts: http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/10-11/comm...lbag/17036.html LOL... 6.8m in 19 years thats amazing. There's no way the sums add up. I still dont believe the high level 70m figure. Your wage bill shouldn't be that high, so you must be paying a lot out in interest. The 70m figure is operational cost, not just wages though. You've missed my point. They are clearly being run on a shoe string so shouldn't have operating costs of 70m.

  20. Everton are in the shit because they broke their wage structure. Oh and Moyes bought a couple of lemons, Bilyaletdinov (8.9m) springs to mind. I would be interested to find out how much they pay in interest payment. Newcastle got up to 7m a year and on a tight budget that makes a big difference.
  21. You should be able to get them to change your tax code, so it's taken out monthly from your pay. Also, if the error is their mistake there's a form you can fill in to have it written off.
  22. What are you playing it on? MKV are HD files, so whatever you play them on will need to support it. Is there a reason you want the match in lower quality? Try adding XviD to your search will bring up what you want.
  23. If he can get games at Celtic they can keep him on loan for the next few years. He's a big unit and will have plenty of suitors. If Norwich get promoted I'd ship him back to them.
