  1. mauling at Orient which turned out to be a major turning point last year ??
  2. Havent seen any myself so what the f$$k is taking so long ????
  3. exactly ! this lad is not going to get game time imo so why sign him ? whether anyone likes it or not CH WILL play Smith and Barton and Nolan. So where do Gosling and Cleverley fit in ??
  4. it's pathetic that prem clubs are allowed to use the loan system given the money they get from sky and just waut til Fergie sees Cleverly hardly getting a game - CH will be getting the hairdryer treatment
  5. Same lad reckons Lloyd Samule is coming as soon as Bolton complete signing of Spanish left back
  6. YOU RECKON ??? He'll be too busy dealing with Carroll.
  7. Just had text from a pal who knows a lad at Wigan's academy and apparently the buzz about the place is that Bramble is about to join our friends across the river !!! FFS, their centre backs must be bad - bring on October 31st NOW !!
  8. dont you think CARROLL will do that ??
  9. He'd improve the back four, that's for sure and is the kind of experience that's useful in a relegation battle. I'm assuming that he comes with big wage demands though and I'm surprised Ashley would pay them. Providing it's true of course. I just don't get it. £50K PER WEEK is taken off the wage bill with Butt going and is almost replaced by a 35 year old Campbell who will have no reslae value but will cost approx £5m when his 2 year deal ends. Another central defender is not required UNLESS Taylor is in a bad way OR the club know he's going. The Gosling deal is a good one, and the Perch one is a no lose situation, but Campbell ? Bloody hell man even Kenwyn Jones destroyed him 2 years ago - 2 years ago !!
  10. aye, 30 years ago this week, Ray Clarke was signed for £180,000 and he was a pile of crap !
  11. wasting time with this 'fancy dan' footballer - give me Guthrie every time.
  12. not fit til 2011 !! forget it.

    Mackems

a sensible post at last I know plenty of good mackem lads and, who think Bearsdley, Gazza, Shearer were great, but they arent gonna shout it from the rooftops ffs ! from what I have encountered with both the home and away support, there are plenty of nobheads amongst toon supporters as well - the level of ignorance on display esp at home games is breathtaking.
  14. It's weird - when you are in goal facing a penalty, you think you've got no chance as the area available to the penalty taker looks so vast. But, when you're taking a penalty, the goal looks so small !! Have seen both sides albeit at Sunday Morning and Saturday Afternoon level, but imagine taking a high pressure penalty - you need ice running thru your veins not to get the jitters - pro or no pro.

  17. eggsfuckinsactly. Sad that I am Ive worked this out based on 2009/10 prices (couldnt find anything for 2010/11). Into it Ive added my own view on the numbers sold but I have used quite sensible maths in the rest using the following assumptions. In the bars (Platinum, 1892 and Sports) then the split is 70% adult, 30% OAP. In the standard areas its 60% adult, 20% OAP and 20% Junior. Family enclosure, 45% adult, 55% Junior Where ST sales have dropped then theyve dropped across the board and across the sections/ bars. Season ticket sales, Im estimating that these will drop in total to 35k, if you then knock the 6k off that are 3 year you get around 29k (rounded this upto the extra on the actual 45k value therefore 29,751 STs sold this year at an average price of £450.96 = £13,416,448.27 Footfall - I reckon these will start at around 11k but drop due to weather, results and opposition to approx 6k therefore I think an average of 8k per game is realistic. For the average price Ive taken the ST price and added 20% on then divided by the 19 games and then applied it across the Adult, OAP and Junior numbers. Giving an average price per game of £34.40. This gives a total of £4,509,578.93 So I think that the total income from ticket sales is more likely to be £17,926,027 or rounded to £18m which is £12m short of your estimation. I dont think we actually have 100 corporate boxes, Id guess 80 and last season about 20% of them were empty, with cutbacks etc Id estimate that we'll sell about 50 so if your view of £30k per box is right then thats £1.5m 25k programmes per game? you're having a laugh arent you? Id guess somewhere between 5 and 10k so lets say 8k. As for booze and food, make that £1m if you're lucky. Outgoings: Player wages are still supposed to be around the £40m mark not £25 as youve wildly quoted. I'll go with your views on the cost of other staff, booze etc (because I havent got a clue on that) so thats £11.5m All in all, Im guessing you're about £32m overestimating there. 41500 sold so far so there you 6500 out already
  18. his reported plan of action is real. The season after will be a different story tho' if relegation happens. Before those who support MA come flying in to have a go, I fully accept that before he took over, NUFC were in a hell of a state. I fully accept he has spent a good deal of his fortune on the club and got little in return - the reported losses for the season just gone and the season before, on top of the other losses and the amount he paid have undoubtedly led to him trying to pull up the drawbridge. BUT, given the amount of profit the club will make this season, surely he can allocate just £10m to strengthening ? Just doodling with figures - turnover will be around £80m made up of £35m definite from Sky. £30m from the gate - 45,000 s/t @ average of £500 plus footfall of 7000 paying ave of £30 per game for 19 games. Sponsorship £5m. Corporate - 100 boxes @£30k a pop for the season = £3m. Shirt sales 50,000 x £35 = £2m. Programmes 475,000 {25000 per game } x £3 = £1.5m. Booze and food sales for 19 games = £4m. Less player wages - current recognised 20 1st team pros = £25m Other players, coaching staff and admin staff/matchday stewards/groundstaff etc = £5m Cost of supplying booze/food/programmes/shirts say 20% of estimate = £1.5 Rates/utilities/Insurances etc etc = say £5m tops Plenty of other minor things to take in to account of course but the profit should be in the region of £25/30m ! Anyone think estimates are too high/too low ?
  19. sounds like Wigan mean business in the transfer market this closed season - already got Scharner's replacement in Paraguay's centre half and got other targets lined up. Wigan are one of the very few teams that might just save the toon from another relegation so if they are raising the bar, FMA just has to get his wallet out. ok, he has lost loads of his former billion pound fortune since getting involved, but another relegation will make it even worse for him financially - surely he can see that ?
  20. Taylor piece was in SUNDAY MIRROR as stated - can't you read ? You could probably stick both newspapers sideways in to your mouth - abusive prat.
  21. e-mail Farrington and find out is the EASY answer.
  22. mean no cash to spend. It's a Farrington article mind so could be shoit. If not.......................
