  1. despite all the doubts about whether ashley would spend, the squad is beginning to take shape and look a little stronger. The loss of Debuchy is a blow as not even Janmatt is his equal, but he's certainly better than R Taylor and Santone. Can't say I'm bothered about HBA, Marveaux and Ferguson being 'frozen out', but cant believe it hasnt been done to Obertan who is U.S. If there are no more departures of regulars - Sissoko and Mbiwa for example, and Cabella, Riviere plus 2-3 others come in, it's looking good for next season isnt it ? Anyone agree/disagree GK - KRUL, ELLIOTT DF - COLOCINNI S TAYLOR WILLIAMSON MBIWA HAIDARA DUMMETT R TAYLOR JANMATT ? SANTONE MF - GOUFFRAN ANITA TIOTE COLBACK DE JONG SISSOKO ABEID BIGIRAMANA GUITERREZ ST - PEROZ RIVIERE CISSE AMEOBI So far so good, but with ashley, will there be a sting in the tail ??
  2. according to The People last Sunday. 3 in but what happens when likes of Debuchy, HBA and Sissoko go ? could be aload of bollocks but thats what it said.
  3. Having seen the depressing news in the EC, why don't they just negotiate with them about terminating their contracts - let them go for free for less than what they'd be due if they stayed the whole contract period ? They all know they arent going to get a game, so 'professional pride' [ it still exists doesnt it ?? } should tell them to negotiate a deal and move on. Boils my piss that £3m will be going out on wages per annum to GO and SM - madness. At least SM didnt cost a fee but wasnt it £4m for GO ? Just hope the deadwood can be got rid of asap INCLUDING likes of Jonas, Ferguson and all others who arent going to make it.
  4. Seems fairly certain - fair to say that Bony is on his way out after just one season. Lassogga looks like going to Hamburg - hope theres a few more names on the list of targets !
  5. the selling of Cabaye knocked the stuffing out of everyone, esp' the players - it shouldnt have been that major a factor , but it was. This coming season is a clean slate and i doubt that anyone currently on the staff if sold in Janyary 2015 will have the effect that the Cabaye sale made. Onwards and upwards.
  6. Strange one this - would probably do ok in the Ch'ship but would it not be better giving him a season to see if he can make it in the PL as after all SW will only be offering a million max' and there's not alot you can buy with that in the transfer market ! If nowt else, he gives a bit of depth to the squad and can look dangerous at times when he gets on - I say hang on to him for one more season then make a decision ?
  7. gone which would surely happen with a poor start to the season, are likely to be disappointed as overall, the opening fixtures should see a good points tally as long as a decent forward is signed ! Man City at home isn't a washout while the next 5 are decent enough games. Obviously, so much depends upon the transfer market in the next 8 weeks, but looks like the computers have looked after AP ?
  8. its obvious what he's all about and his agent - best left well alone. Lassoga - no pace but decent in the air and a bit more robust than De JONG. As for matching a club's valuation, get real lads. If you go after a house and you like it, would you really offer the asking price straight off ?? Even if your lass was giving you verbals, you still would offer below asking price and monitor things surely ? Most deals are waiting games - bluff and counter bluff. Lasogga will come and got a feeling Cabella will too. Just be patient ffs, thers 8.5 weeks til kick off.
  9. yes, he is fairly average, but its another experienced player adding depth to the squad. Pardew keeps plying the mantra about lack of numbers which is bollocks 25-30 on books most with first team experience - its quality thats lacking NOT quantity. Can fully understand Ashley looking at Gutierrezfor example and thinking '' feck me I'm paying him 50k per week''. Even for a billionaire, it must make him weep.
  10. not ''getting'' this. He was supposed to be fit for ths start of the season and he isnt on the plane to NZ - has he had another set back ? He has done his knee twice already, has something further happened ? If so, he's fkd. 2 is bad enough but 3 - if he has.
  11. 3 FREE TRANSFERS and rumours of them trying to offload Johnson who is on 70k per week - theyre in financial bother I tell ya
  12. Did I read somehwere Pardew is only looking to land 5 players ? If so, he is deluded. By my calcs, there are 31 first teamers on the books inc' the 2 recent signings BUT, the 31 includes many that have been mentioned as being allowed to leave/definitely leaving/possibly leaving - TAVERNIER - VUCKIC - FERGUSON - ABEID - CAMPBELL - GOOD - MARVEAUX - OBERTAN - AMALFITANO - BEN ARFA - GUTIERREZ - M'BIWA - DEBUCHY - SISSOKO - KRUL. OK so, the majority of them will be no great loss at all, BUT, the squad depth would be badly depleted IF so many left and only 5 came in. u can bet your bottom dollar IF Sissiko and Debuchy have good WC's and bids come in, they will be away - maybe even Tiote too ? There's a long way to go before the season starts - 9 weeks to be precise, but the only players I am 100% confident of still being at the club come August 17th are - ELLIOTT, SANTONE, WILLIAMSON, COLOCINNI, RYAN TAYLOR, HIADARA, ANITA, DUMMETT, CISSE, GOUFFRAN, COLBACK, AYEOZ, AMEOBI, BIGIRAMANA. Realistic ?
  13. get shot of him man - big wages, always misses a good amount of games thru injury - past his best.
  14. an on loan centre back will be signed - you can't imagine MA allowing Pardew to spend big money knowing that Taylor will be back in April - a cheap stop gap loan deal and that'll be it.
  15. I don't think it is LM. Campbell is way past it. When he returned to Arsenal last season, he had 2 quick, quality fullbacks beside him - Sagna and Clichy, plus a quality centre half in Vermalen, with a good ''shield'' infront of him. What has he now got ? A fellow central defender who has no pace, ball watches and who thinks he is way better than he is. Two fullbacks that are certainly nowhere near the standard he is used to playing with, and a midfield shield that has no ''legs'' in it. What will probably happen next season is that a high line won't be taken to aid going forward, but a line somewhere between the 18 yard box and halfway, to nullify the prospect of being hit by quick, pacey strikers. This in turn will affect the team attack wise and encourage the opposition to come on all game. Surely there must be a decent defender with a modicum of pace somewhere in Europe or the world ?? He may turn out to be an inspired signing, but I'm willing to bet that his season will be hampered by injuries as the physical demands on a 36 year old are too intense. There'll be no league cup or fa cup games for old Sol for sure. I was taking the piss. See my previous post WHAT ??? YOU, TAKING THE PISS ?????? NEVER IN CREATION - WHATEVER NEXT

I think I preferred the old acca... this one makes me sad dont fret FISH, relegation will not befall the toon - it may be close ie within 6 points, but there will be 3 teams below - count on it.

  18. the failure of the comprehensive school system is just given more emphasis by morons like this bed wetting prat
  19. DECEMBER is an absolute bar steward - even WBA away is a tough one as that is one they will target for a win. Birmingham away is a tough one as well and a depressing ground to go to at the best of times - but in the bleak mid winter - oh dear !! And forget about points v Liverpool, Man City and Spuds. AUGUST is a tough month as well. Would not be surprised to see 2 or less obtained from those 3 games. SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER have got to be where points are gleaned - Blackpool h, Stoke h, Mackems h, Wigan h but forget about the away trips to Everton, City and WHU. NOVEMBER looks ok but BSA will be determined to get at least a point esp with the stick he'll get. Fulham are a tough unit to crack away from home too even tho they didnt win many last season. JANUARY and FEBRUARY look quite tough but WHU and BOLTON at home have GOT to yield points. MARCH/APRIL is a tw&t as well with away trips to STOKE, VILLA, BLACKPOOL and LIVERPOOL and home games against EVERTON and MAN UTD Even the Wolves home game is no guarantee of a win. IF in the mire come May, at least there will be 2 home bankers v Birmingham {who will have nowt to play for} and WBA who will already be relegated.
  20. 34 will see survival this coming season as most clubs are capable of beating each other on their day I think 34 is a big ask even if a decent centre half is signed. Blackpool have NO chance, whilst WBA havent got a prayer of getting 30.
  21. John Anderson said on the radio last week that MW did a good job in the CCC but he wasn't sure he'd be able to make the next step. What JA really meant was he aint good enough which is why Pompey didnt play him after signing him. The thought of ball watching Colo and cart horse Mike together fills me with utter dread. No. Pompey had a clause stating that they had to pay watford more money when he played a game. Pompey had no money, therefore couldn't afford to play him. that theory was discredited - there was more to pay when he played 20 games I think it was. I take it you think he'll do ok in the prem ?? - I am far from convinced esp with the slow midfield infront.

  23. PREMIER League new boys Newcastle have been dealt a major blow with defensive lynchpin Steven Taylor ruled out until October. The former England Under-21 captain dislocated his shoulder in a friendly at Carlisle last week. Taylor has had his shoulder pinned and faces an eight-week lay-off before he can think about playing again. The 24-year-old suffered two major injuries last season, damaging a knee, then breaking his jaw in a training-ground clash with Andy Carroll. But he was back to top fitness before the collision at Carlisle. The latest setback means Toon boss Chris Hughton will need funds to strengthen the centre of defence. Danny Simpson is out until September, leaving only Fabrico Coloccini and Mike Williamson as fit central-halves. Your commentsThis article has 1 comment Unless Mr Ashley gets his cheque book out+ buys 4 new players eg robbie keane + two centre halves + midfield we are in for one hell of a battle to stay in premier league we i as a toon fan cant see us doing By cormac..
