I'm not basing it on anything other than we didn't get him, and the comments that Mort has made for some months now don't fill me with optimism that they will go for the players that a club like us ought to do. As I said, a statement or two of the intention to get into the top 4 and the aim to win a trophy or two would be more helpful, don't kid yourself I'm the only one thinking like this, because I'm not. There are lots of supporters out there who don't come onto these message boards. Do you know why he chose Spurs instead of us, he did spend time training with us didn't he ? This wasn't a statement of intent? I give up to be honest. Different to Rooney ? He chose Spurs, we didn't get our man. He didn't choose Manu or Chelsea instead of us, he chose fucking Spurs man !!! Very different to Rooney, we had a chance of signing Modric, anyone with half a brain knew that by bidding for Rooney we would force ManU to show their hand and that he would inevitably end up there.

The only thing that is embarassing is the length of this thread, we went in for a player and he chose another club, Jesus the hysteria in here is unbelievable. why did he choose spurs before us, I think is the question [and the problem] Ultimately none of us really know but to suggest that it's the chairman's or owner's fault is most likely wrong. Like any proper club Keegan has stated that he has a budget to spend, if he felt that he only wanted to spend X amount on him and Spurs offered more then fair enough, at the same time if he had've wanted to spend more of his budget on him then I think he would have been allowed to. This isn't about one player, it's about Keegan's budget for the entire transfer window and balancing our requirements. oh dear. The insinuation that we weren't a "proper club" before............despite having the 5th most european qualifications in the country. Ultimately, despite your protests, the last board must have did a fair few things right, and being prepared to pay the money to get their man was most definitely one of them, and something that the new board [and yourself] should not dismiss and in fact should take heed of. You are right in saying that just now, nobody knows for sure [or we don't anyway] but Keegan was reportedly raging at this deal falling through and not very happy about something. I think the previous board over extended themselves and that became evident when the dire nature of our finances was revealed whenever Ashley took over. And no I don't think our club was being run properly before, look at the situation when Robson wanted Carrick yet Shepherd wanted Butt, who won in that instance and who has since been proven to have been right? The chairman/owner should decide the budget and after that the manager should have full control over how to spend it and that certainly wasn't the case under the old regime.

Michael Carrick comes to mind, Freddie wouldn't even put up the £2.5m for him believing that a Geordie would always choose us over anyone else, given the £15m+ profit Spurs made on him it makes Shepherd look more than a little foolish.

Full time 2-2. All hail the Lawro!
-
Sounds like Edgar has gotten a nasty cut.
-
In the stand watching? Only if he kept last season's ticket.
-
Sounds like another sterling performance from Uriah Rennie.
-
2-2 GERRIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good time to score, hopefully Keegan can get them sorted out at half time.

What a load of absolute shite. You nor anyone else on this board has a fucking clue what happened. All we know is that he spoke to us earlier in the week, we have no idea how long he has been speaking to Spurs and what affected his decision. You say we were in pole position, again you have absolutely no idea if this was true. So stop acting as if this is the most embarassing thing to happen us, it's a minor blip, no one outside of Newcastle is really going to give a fuck that we lost out on him. A lot of people overreacting here because we lost out on a player (who is hardly a household name) to a club which is a lot more attractive than us. There's no point in sitting feeling sorry for ourselves, I'm sure there are plenty of equally talented players out there for us. Sorry, I can't help but read all your posts in my head with this angry Sinn Fein Irishman voice and it's really hard to take any of it seriously. In all fairness, you never really say anything worth reading anyway, so I'm alright with that. Well done, just ignore everything I've said, I'll take that as an admission that you realise you were talking bollocks.

And their own yapping fucking players, fuck 'em all. Chelsea just cleared the ball off the line twice in as many minutes.
-
Chelsea just gone 2-1 up in 85th minute, Ballack penalty. Hope Chelsea beat the red bastards to the league. Edit: I hope they win the league to fuck off the media and their own pathetic fucking fans who have been calling for Grant's head.

Kemsley is no longer on the Spurs board.

This thread has succeeded in making both sets of fans look like cockends. T-Keith, use the power.
-
It's only taken him 3 seasons and countless wasted millions.
-
I'm not too sure about this recruitment system, aye the scouts should identify targets and play a part in negotiations but the manager should also be heavily involved in talking to the player and be kept up to date with what is happening.
-
Fucking asshole.
-
I don't think Lawro has been that bad towards us this season, it'd be interesting to see who has predicted more points for us between the two.
-
Aye, yous lot prefer wallowing in tragedy.

"Cock stash"?
