  1. As much as I think Wise is an odious little tosser, ultimately all he's done is carried out the actions of Mike Ashley and done his job, I see no sense in venting hatred at him, all he has done is exacted the will of his employer.
  2. I've only just heard the news as I'm at work and forgot to bring my bloody mobile, not sure how I feel at the moment, a mixture of emotions I guess, somewhere between anger, heartbreak, disapointment and frustration, this is a giant leap backwards for the club and right now I fear for the future.
  3. I don't think we've seen the half of it yet.
  4. from .com Claim & counter-claim It was reported by various news sources on Thursday that Mike Ashley was flying back into the UK after a business trip to the USA in order to meet with Kevin Keegan. However a bleaker claim is also doing the rounds that there's no chance of any amicable resolution to the situation - and that the final agreement of a financial settlement for KK will be followed by a formal statement of the "mutual consent" variety in the next 24 hours. As ever, we're trying to make sense of this whole mess.
  5. The head of Dennis Wise on a stick. Have a great time by the way.

  7. The crisis gripping Newcastle United took a new militant twist when it emerged that club owner Mike Ashley was set to face a player revolt at St James' Park as dressing-room support for beleaguered manager Kevin Keegan hardened. Question time: Michael Owen and players have apparently not been told what is going on at their club Photo: PA As further talks were taking place to end the bizarre stand-off between Keegan and his directors, the signs of a nascent rebellion were becoming apparent at the Tyneside club whose players share the club supporters' sense of outrage at the high-profile developments of the past few days. The Newcastle captain, Michael Owen, is expected to lead a delegation of players who will demand answers from the board over the uncertain future of Keegan and the revelations that every player had been put up for sale during the last transfer window. It was, though, the club's efforts to move on Owen that provoked an angry confrontation between Keegan and managing director Derek Llambias and prompted speculation that Keegan had walked away from the manager's office for a second time. While Keegan was away sorting out his future with the backing of League Managers Association chief executive Richard Bevan, his assistant, Chris Hughton, supervised training yesterday at Newcastle's Darsley Park training HQ, where the atmosphere among the players was described by one insider as "down and angry because he's so popular". They are all said to be "100 per cent behind" Keegan and are adamant that they do not want to see Tottenham assistant manager Gus Poyet – who was director of football Dennis Wise's right-hand man at Leeds United and Swindon Town – or Real Zaragoza manager Marcelino Garcia Toral. It has emerged that the players themselves do not know what is going on at the club and are "surprised" they have not heard anything from "upstairs" and that is why they are seeking answers. However, the consensus among the playing staff is that Keegan will survive the crisis and return with his hand considerably strengthened, which would suggest that he has a far greater say on transfer dealings than his directors, which has been such a thorny issue for the manager. Despite the furore, Keegan has privately made it clear that he aims to continue a job he started only last January. "Kevin still wants the job – make no mistake about that – but he would like to be able to buy his own players," a source close to the former England manager said. "If he was allowed to bring in his own players and he failed, he would be the first to hold his hands up." While billionaire sports retail magnate Ashley was abroad on business, Keegan and Llambias were locked in talks at a secret location, believed to be in Manchester, but the situation was not expected to be resolved immediately. "We have held a first round of talks and further talks are being planned for this evening," said Bevan. "Newcastle football club and its fans are massively important to Kevin and he has not resigned as manager of the club. He will be working hard to communicate with the Newcastle board and we will have to wait to see what the outcome is over the next few days." Earlier, Newcastle moved to deny that Keegan was no longer their manager and revealed talks were ongoing. "Newcastle United Football Club can confirm that discussions are ongoing between the board and Kevin Keegan," a statement said. "Both the club and Kevin would like to reiterate that Kevin remains as manager. He has not resigned nor has he been sacked, as has been confirmed in respective statements made by Kevin and Newcastle United Football Club." Keegan, 57, is unhappy about the recruitment policy – with Wise and his team responsible for implementing transfer policy – a matter which was discussed at meetings on Monday and Tuesday and which appears to have brought things to a head. Meanwhile, it was reported on Tyneside yesterday that Indian billionaire Anil Ambani and his Reliance group are still keen on taking over Newcastle United and are said to be prepared to make a £275 million bid for the club.

Look for one with ceramic blades, no need to oil them, but don't ever drop them !
  13. David Craig on SSN saying there has been no sign of Keegan at Newcastle today, they claim he was at his Manchester home lastnight, other than that they know nothing, and no word of Wise being sacked.
  14. This fucking Lowestoft-based, Aussie-speaking, hooked on wanking piece of shit just sent this to me on MSN.... And neglected to put Curbishley's name on the bottom of it.... James, you're an absolute cunt!
  15. "The selection of players is critical to the job of the manager and I had an agreement with the club that I alone would determine the composition of the squad. However, the club continued to make significant player decisions without involving me. In the end such a breach of trust and confidence meant that I had no option but to leave. Nevertheless, I wish the club and the players every success in the future.” Alan Curbishley I'd wager that Keegan's statement to the fans would be practically word for word.
  16. Listening to this at the moment, it could be the soundtrack to the Keegan situation

  18. From The Times September 3, 2008 Kevin Keegan may quit football for good Matt Dickinson Kevin Keegan was on the verge of standing down as Newcastle United manager last night, throwing the club into bitter turmoil, over what he perceives as humiliation concerning the club's transfer policy. After farcical scenes that included bewildered fans demonstrating against the “sacking” of their hero, Keegan remained in his position, according to the club, but it is hard to believe that he will stay for long, or want to, given his clashes with the board. Keegan has been so at odds with the directors over transfers that some Newcastle players were among those to believe that club and manager had parted company yesterday lunchtime. It appears to have been only a reluctance to surrender the payoff on his three-year deal, worth up to £3 million a year, that stopped Keegan following through his threats to take his leave. Whether he jumps or is seen to be pushed, it seems highly unlikely that he will be seen in a dugout again. The former England manager has been so impotent in recent days that, having angrily questioned the proposed sale of Joey Barton on Monday, it is believed he was told that every member of the first-team squad could be sold, irrespective of his opinion. The directors have pushed their manager to the brink by dictating the buying and selling of players, but, bizarrely, they seem happy for him to continue for the time being. Perhaps they want to avoid more trouble from supporters who are in revolt over Mike Ashley's stewardship. The crowd of 47,711 for the opening home Barclays Premier League match of the season, against Bolton Wanderers, was the lowest in more than a decade and there is talk of a boycott of the next fixture, against Hull City on Saturday week. Suggestions that Dennis Wise and Gustavo Poyet may take over from Keegan have led to further uproar on Tyneside. Boardroom sources claimed last night that they had spent most of the day talking Keegan out of resigning, but there is no doubt who the fans will side with. Even with mixed results since he took over from Sam Allardyce in January, Keegan is popular for his previous exploits on the pitch and as the Newcastle manager. The humiliations heaped on him stretch back over several months, since Wise was brought in as executive director (football). Wise and Tony Jimenez, both London-based directors, were appointed by Ashley to guide transfer policy, but their seizing of control has brought only conflict with the manager. Those rows came to a head with the recruitment on Monday of Ignacio González, the Uruguay midfield player, and Xisco, the Spanish striker, even though Keegan had not scouted the players or approved their signings. He had been asking for a left back and Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, but was given neither. At the same time the club tried to offload Barton for £4 million to Portsmouth, even though Keegan had fought hard to retain the midfield player after his six-month prison sentence for assault. A deal to sell Alan Smith to Everton also fell through, while the board tried to sell Michael Owen to any takers, despite Keegan imploring club officials to give the Newcastle captain a new long-term contract. Keegan had also been undermined by the sale of James Milner to Aston Villa last week. In the circumstances, it is a surprise that Keegan, 57, has lasted this long, particularly given his temperamental history. But at his age and with his faltering record, to quit now would probably be to leave management for good. In response to reports that Keegan had been sacked, the club said that they “wanted him to continue to play an instrumental role as manager of the club”. Whether he can endure further embarrassment is another matter.
  19. Trying it now, feels bloody fast !
