WRESTLING legend Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home in Atlanta, Georgia. The star, renowned as the greatest in-ring grappler of his generation, had just turned 40. Chris, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel were all discovered by Atlanta police. It is believed his two other children were in Canada, where Benoit was born and trained as a wrestler. The tragedy follows the early deaths of Chris's best pal Eddie Guerrero, Owen Hart, British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, Sensational Sherri and many other wrestling stars. According to WWE.com the deaths of the superstar, his wife and son were the result of a 'double murder-suicide' but further details had not yet been released. The site went on to say: "World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. "There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities. "WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy." Chris will always have a place in the heart of wrestling fans worldwide thanks to his classic matches in Japan, ECW, WCW, and especially the WWE. His hug with Eddie at WrestleMania XX was one of wrestling's most memorable moments - and will now never, ever be forgotten.

Shepherd ponders place in the Newcastle revolution George Caulkin Newcastle United’s future should become clearer today when sweeping changes to the board are expected to be confirmed in a statement to the stock market. Yesterday’s meeting between the present regime and representatives of Mike Ashley, whose £133 million takeover is progressing quickly, will result in a number of departures. Ashley, the billionaire sportswear businessman, will install his team of directors at the club, which will shortly revert to private ownership, but he has asked Freddy Shepherd to remain in his position as chairman at least until that process is complete and the new board has acclimatised. Along with the likes of Douglas Hall, Shepherd had offered his resignation, but his instinct now is to stay. With Sam Allardyce requiring funds for strengthening his team and complex plans in development to increase the stadium capacity to 60,000 and build a hotel and conference centre adjacent to the ground, there is logic in Shepherd serving as a figurehead, despite his unpopularity with some supporters. The reclusive Ashley is understood not to have been at yesterday’s meeting, but his ambitions were spelt out to Shepherd, who has undergone a recent health scare and whose wife, Lorelle, has indicated in public that she would prefer her husband to step aside. A final decision is imminent. One situation that appears to have been resolved is the saga of Newcastle’s compensation claim over the knee injury suffered by Michael Owen at the World Cup finals last summer. The club’s insurers and the FA have shared the cost of the striker’s £110,000 weekly wage, Fifa contributed less than £2 million from its World Cup fund and the FA has settled Newcastle’s £150,000 medical bill, but the overall sum is much less than the £10 million that has been mooted. David Rozehnal has completed his £3 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. The Czech Republic defender passed a medical at Newcastle and has agreed personal terms on a four-year contract. The 26-year-old is expected to be presented at a press conference today. Allardyce attempted to sign Rozehnal for Bolton Wanderers in January, but the conclusion of a long chase merely represents the start of the manager’s rebuilding process at St James’ Park. Mark Viduka and Joey Barton have joined the club, but a rearguard that has lost Titus Bramble, Craig Moore, Oguchi Onyewu and Olivier Bernard this summer is the focus of Allardyce’s attention. Sami Hyypia, of Liverpool, and Habib Beye, of Marseilles, remain targets. In this regard, the ramifications of Ashley’s arrival have still to be felt. A source close to the sportswear tycoon has stated that “the guy is someone who wants to build the biggest and the best and be successful”, but Newcastle are not competing in the highest echelons of the transfer market. After selling Scott Parker to West Ham United for £7 million, the club have spent about £1.8 million since the end of last season. Sunderland have about £25 million to invest after their promotion from the Coca-Cola Championship, but they have tempted only Greg Halford to the Stadium of Light. Having failed to lure Jussi Jaaskelainen from Bolton, Roy Keane has turned his attention to Craig Gordon, the Heart of Midlothian goalkeeper, and is pursuing David Nugent, the Preston North End striker.

A waitress sexually taunted at work over her red hair has been awarded £17,618 compensation by an employment tribunal. Sarah Primmer, 41, of Renown Street, Plymouth, suffered a series of lewd and embarrassing comments until she was sacked from the city's Rendezvous Cafe. She claimed unfair dismissal and sexual harassment at the establishment. The award was made against Mayflower Kebabs Ltd, Kemal Koyunco, Malik Aldogan and Laxtone Ltd. The Exeter tribunal chairman, Christa Christensen, said the "regular sexual harassment and innuendo" suffered by Ms Primmer had affected her self-esteem. During a six-month period last year Ms Primmer had been subjected to a series of inappropriate comments by the cafe's night manager. The tribunal was told he had apparently translated his comments into Turkish for the benefit of other members of staff. "They wanted to know if the colour of my hair matched the rest of my body," said Ms Primmer. "They thought it was quite funny to laugh about - they do not see many people with red hair." Sick note The tribunal chairman described the harassment suffered by Ms Primmer as "denigrating, highly personal and demeaning". Ms Primmer was dismissed from the cafe while off work. A doctor's sick note was not accepted by her employer. Ms Primmer, who said she was "staggered" by the size of her award, intends to continue having her hair coloured. She was so upset when she was sacked she spent £90 every three months to keep her hair straight and blonde. "I am going to try and get it lighter and lighter, it is not nice to be ginger," she said after the hearing. "I was teased about my red hair at school and called coppernob and Duracell, but no-one had mentioned the colour of my hair to me for years." The respondents were not represented at the tribunal in Exeter.

I thought Dein had sold his shares to Kroenke?? I thought the whole trouble at Arsenal was that Dein had sold his shares to the American and had tried to encourage the other directors to do the same in order to help Arsenal compete with Chewsee and Manure - the other directors refused to follow Dein's lead. Is that right or wrong ?? He currently holds 9,072 shares (14.6%) in the club and is the third largest shareholder.

I think the problems were caused by a testosterone overload.

Kilt wearers could face prosecution if they do not have a licence for their sporran under new legislation which has been introduced in Scotland. The laws are designed to protect endangered species like badgers and otters, whose fur used to be favoured by sporran makers. The legislation applies to animals killed after 1994. Applicants must prove that the animal was killed lawfully before they will be able to get a licence. The conservation regulations were designed to close a number of loopholes and bring Scotland into line with other EU members. They also apply to other vulnerable animals like deer, wildcats, hedgehogs, bats, lynx, moles, seals, whales, dolphins and porpoises. The regulations require anyone who owns any part of a protected animal to obtain a licence. The maximum penalties for breaking the law are a fine of £5,000 and six months in prison. Hamish Husband, spokesman for the Association of Tartan Army Clubs, said the legislation could affect fans who follow their national football team. "Are the police going to take DNA samples from the sporran of every kilted supporter who walks into Hampden?" he asked. "If that's the case we will need to look into obtaining a licence to cover the entire Tartan Army." A Scottish Executive spokeswoman said the new rules had been put in place to bring Scotland into line with existing European legislation designed to protect vulnerable species. "The licence will allow people who possess artefacts made from these species in circumstances compliant with earlier laws to keep them," she said. "This could be family heirlooms of various descriptions. "Having a licence for such an artefact, proving it was obtained legally, will ensure they will not be prosecuted or have it taken from them under the new regulations."
