I'm fairly open minded about the appointment, I wish him all the best.

GLENN Roeder described his appointment as Newcastle manager as "a dream come true". Roeder, who has been in charge of first team affairs since February, was officially unveiled as the Magpies' new boss as a St. James' Park press conference this morning. Speaking to Newcastle World TV, Roeder said: "It's hard to describe how I feel at the moment. "I know all about this club, having played here for almost six years and having captained the club. "I'm an extremely lucky person to have been given this opportunity, and it is an opportunity I want to take. "I had almost six years here, and that was an enjoyable time. "You don't sign three contracts at a club if you don't like living and playing in an area. "I was aged 33 when I left, and I would have liked to have stayed longer. "I said that so many times, and if I was ever asked to spend the rest of my life in Newcastle then that wouldn't have been a hardship, that would have been a pleasure. "But to get the opportunity to come back here last July was great for me. I was happy with the opportunity to live here again, never mind managing the club. "When came up here as a player, I suppose that having an ambition of managing the team wouldn't have been an option. "As I went on, and you had asked me a couple of years down the line, I'd have said I'd like to be a manager here one day. "Now it has happened, it shows that dreams do come true. "If you work hard and fight for the dream, it proves that anything in life is possible and when the opportunity comes along you have to be ready for it. "I'm looking forward to the next few seasons now, and I think it is going to be an exciting time for everyone connected with this football club."

Juventus are sniffing round him at the moment, but they have more things to worry about than transfers at the moment.

Now given that a Bellamy return is the most remote of possibilities, who are the strikers with those attributes who would be available in the summer? 136448 David Suazo, striker playing for Cagliari in Serie A, very much in the Bellamy mould, has scored 14 in Italy this season.

from skysports: Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is more than confident that Craig Bellamy will still be at Ewood Park next season. The pacey Welshman has in many ways been the catalyst for Rovers' upturn in fortunes, enjoying a fine campaign in helping Mark Hughes's side claim a Uefa Cup place. Such form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with Liverpool and Tottenham believed to be considering summer raids on their Premiership counterparts. It is Hughes, though, that has repeatedly got the best out of the talented-but-temperamental striker and he predicts that their relationship will continue to flourish for the foreseeable future. Hughes, who has done a monumental job since replacing Graeme Souness at the helm, believes Blackburn are not now a selling club given their recent progress. ''I am as confident as I can be about any player,'' Hughes told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. ''We want to keep our best players, we're not in the business of selling them. ''We're a top-six side and we're looking to kick on, and you don't do that by selling your best players. ''I'm more than confident Craig will be here next season.''

Classic film although i do get bored when Mr Vega is taking Mrs Wallace out for a bite.... 136359 Really ? I think the scene where they are giving Mia Wallace the adrenaline shot is one of the best in cinema history.

They already have this kind of scarf for 7 quid, just with the normal club crest. 136266 Agreed, they are very similar, my argument is that selling the testimonial scarf in the club shop or via the website would have been good the the chosen charities. 136269 You mean Fat Fred spending his dividends at Gregg's? 136276 Cheese and onion pasties from what I've heard

Announcement tomorrow, apparently. 136270 Go back to your Pina colada !

After the amazing spectical of the scarf waving at Shearer's testimonial, its no suprise that the testimonial scarves have found their way on Ebay, some selling for around £25 ! Surely the club aren't short-sighted enough to miss out on this ? so far the testimonial scarves are not on general sale and will nodoubt be popular amoungst fans for next season, and can be a money spinner for not only the club but for Shearer's testimonial charities also. The club needs to get its finger out and get these scarves in the club shop ASAP.
