I can't see us winning another game this season. We have lost the ability to win football matches. We're fucked. Fair enough. I was predicting relegation before Christmas, but I still think we can beat Pompey and Boro. Beat them two, and there's a chance that some momentum may be gained for the Fulham game. Until it's mathematically certain, we cannot afford to throw the towel in. -
Okay, Mike. Or is it Dermott? Welbeck nicks the ball into a fantastic place for him to slip it easily into the goal (the goalkeeper is never going to get it) and deliberately falls over. Yeah, right.

Thank God that turgid shite has finished. Well done, Mike Riley. Another class refereeing decision from the Dermot Gallagher school of refereering, in respect of that penalty. Shocker.

Today's result changes nothing. A win against Pompey is imperative - we all know that. Who reckons we can't beat them????? Anyone???? -
If 30,000 sang it then maybe I wouldnt find it so cringeworthy however as songs and chants go its probably the lowest common denominator. What I would find inspiring and uplifiting for both the fans and more importantly the players would be 30k singing Blaydon Races in unison (rather than the 3 or 4 different chunks of the ground that we have doing it now and out of synch). I would feel that lift in my heart like I used to if we all burst into "Geordie Ranger" or "Drink Drink" or even "N and an E and a Wubble U C" once in a while. Have to admit, I can't recall the last time I sang 'Drink, drink' but Wubble U C gets frequent airings in 'the corner'. Granted, the 30,000 singing toon toon is vary rare, but when it does happen it is uplifting. I just wish folk would join in, regardless. It does get sung, repeatedly, so if more folk joined in, the rest wouldn't feel so self-conscious about singing along. There is no debate about how bad the atmosphere is at SJP, it just breaks my heart to witness it because we all know that it can be so much different. Some exciting football would change things. And I fully expect things to be so much better next week against Pompey, as the fans realise the seriousness of the situation. I fucking hope it is, anyway.

Although he did pretty woeful in his time as manager here he did sign some fantastic players (Solano, Speed, Given, Hamman etc), without which we probably would have already been relegated at some point in the last decade. and also Georgiadis, Garry Brady, Andersson and Ian Rush, not to mention Des Hamilton. Kev and Bobby made bad signings too, all managers do, all I was saying was that some people act as if everything Dalglish did here was terrible when he signed several players that made up the spine of the team for the next 5-10 years. Tbf to him Andersson looked like a superstar when he played for sweden but like he had never kicked a ball in his life for us Sorry, but I have to disagree. Having seen him on CH4 I was bewildered when we signed him.

Aye by a PCer than thou definition EVERYTHING is racist (even things that have absolutely nothing to do with "race"). Everyone is xenophobic to a degree (even those that pathologically against it - they still create groups in their own mind that they dislike for no real reason - like the animal right or anti-abortion nutters that kill people ), it probably is genetic, as it would likely help survival in a prehistory tribal/hunter-gather time. Rubbish. Fop bets it is (or has a common genetic component that effects the behaviour) for a start it's too common; it's everywhere and always has been (even though the West seems determined to claim it for its own there much worse/more extreme between non-western groups today than there is in the West). Plus it likely has a positive aspect when viewed in a "caveman" setting (small wandering territorial groups - they'd need it as much as Chimpanzee's), much like depression, or needing to believe in the Flying Spaghetti monster, is a behavioural genetic throw back to those times. That's not to say the "fat argument" should be applied to it ("it's all in our genes we can't help it *munches another hamburger*"), but equally you can never deny the truth, even if it would be nicer to do so. Rubbish. Racism is clearly a case of nurture rather than nature. Imagine you have two kids, and one grows up in a family with siblings of different races and tolerant liberal parents, and the other grows up in all-white family where the parents are Ku Klux Klan members and preach hatred towards other races. Which child do you think will most likely end up with racist attitudes? Honestly Fop, you don't half talk bollocks. Let me know when they find the 'racist gene' (cue frantic googling by Fop). As Fop already mentioned such "tolerant liberal parents" (which is a ridiculous stereotype in itself, of course ) tend to draw their own prejudicial lines (different lines, to be sure, but prejudicial lines never the less). Such things are likely as genetically built in as things like depression and a need to believe in a flying spaghetti monster are........ and like those had positive evolutionary effects once upon a time (maybe even still do ). That's not to say environment doesn't have some effect, but given it is a humanity wide condition (all strife on the planet is - including Toontastic , always has been and likely always will be about arbitrary "lines" and separations - "us and them", be they racial, religious or tribal) clearly is it us and not just our environment. The only rubbish is that people need to be "conditioned" to be that way, where as in reality they generally need to be "conditioned" not to be, and as mentioned even then it's usually still there only in a hidden or "acceptable" way. That just sounds like worsd salad Fop. As I'm sure you know genes encode proteins and I find it pretty hard to believe that racism has a physical basis in a protein, especially when there's so much evidence it is an acquired behaviour, as given by my example (stereotyped or not). I don't know why you bother, Renton, I really don't. I don't know why anyone bothers replying to him tbh.

It could be that one and all are just out sharpening their knives in the hope of our demise. FUCK THEM. FUCK THE LOT OF THEM. COME AND HAVE A GO, IF YOU THINK YOU'RE HARD ENOUGH CAUSE I HATE YOU, AND YOUR WIFE, AND IF I GET THE CHANCE I'LL FUCK UP YOUR LIFE, MR CLEAN. (thanks to mr Weller for his words)

Do you think an ageing match going support has anything to do with it, pud? Or a higher proportion of Range Rover driving mitten wearing types? I dont personally think its down to any one type of fans, I would have thought that our fanbase profile is no different to any other clubs. I do believe its purely down to how we have been conditioned over the years. When Stevie talks about the Sky fans of '93 hes right but it shouldnt be a derogatory term. Sky brought football back to the general populus. It made it mainstream and a good place to be. The fact we were up there with the best of them in the following seasons just helped build our fanbase. These arent glory hunters or fair weather fans they are people who liked what they saw and stuck with us with the thinner years that followed. Trouble was that these fans and those that were too young to be around in the pre Premier League days didnt know any different, they only knew the entertainers and pushing for the league, Europe qualification and stuffings of Man U, Spurs (yes Danny, the great Spuds were well and truly stuffed) et al. Now that times are hard and we are needed, fans dont know how to behave, the only songs they know are "We're gonna win the League", "Walking in a Keegan/ Robson wonderland" etc. All songs that cant be sung when you are where we are. Where is the gallows humour? what happened to the songs of pride and passion? songs that make you proud to sing along and get involved. Where did they go? Where are the men who used to stand on a barrier in the Gallowgate and face the wrong way for 90 minutes just so they could gee up the crowd to sing? They havent gone anywhere, its just they know that either they will be ignored or told to sit down and shut up. They cant sing the old songs because its so long now since they have been that nobody knows the words. The only songs sung are Blaydon Races and "Toon Toon", the latter being one that I personally think is cringeworthy. To hear 30,000 (caus some folk find it cringeworthy and others never sing) is something else. If anyone doesn't think that sounds great and inspiring just beggars belief imo. That chant is as much 6th-form on wine gums as Stoke fans booing the opposition, yet one is considered cringeworthy and the other justified and an asset; I don't get that at all. Was it cringeworthy for us to turn up in doctor's coats all those years ago? Hell no, yet it's considered cringeworthy for 'shoes off if you love the toon' - something I find quite funny and different. Which set of supporters changed the face of football by all turning up in replica tops?? And if anyone thinks it was someone else than NUFC supporters, they need to look back into history. Yet for a bloke over 35 to wear one it's considered cringeworthy by some (I know Pud still wears one from time to time, as I do). I think the problem in all this is that we, as a whole, have been removed from our socialist, could't-give-a-fuck-if-it-upsets-anyone-as-I'm-going-to-have-a-good-laugh-regardless roots. We all seem to think we're too special, and acting the tit (and singing and shouting at the match) is something for the oiks of this world. I get my ticket right at the back of 'the corner' precisely so I can stand all game and sing and shout like I did thirty+ years ago - AND FUCK ANYONE WHO THINKS I'M STUPID OR IMMATURE FOR DOING SO, AS I'M AT THE MATCH FFS.

Nostrasnakus here. Telephone conversations have been made. Spuds let NUFC take a point today, and in return get a guaranteed point the next time they come to SJP (hopefully next season). -
40 seconds in, this youtube not reached the smoke yet?? I need it without all the shit around it...can you edit it? Leave it alone. He's a fuckin' kid ffs.

I don't know if Hull lose three and draw 2 they have 36 ponits. If they win one thats 38. I think Middlesbrough are fucked after today I can see them only getting another 3 points max. Blackburn I reckon could get 40 points so I reckon it is between us The Boro and Hull. I think we have a good chance of getting 9 points from our remaining home games. If we can squeeze a point tomorrow and against Villa I think that we could be safe. I am however not going to build my hopes too much. 4 home wins all season, you are building your hopes more than I am if you reckon we are going to win 3 on the trot. Aye they are winnable but when you think of our performances at home against the likes Stoke, Wigan, Mackems, Hull, Blackburn etc I can't even be as optimistic as you are... But all those games came when we didn't have a decent set-up. I honestly believe Shearer and Dowie can make a difference with our remaining matches. Not to mention the fans at home - we can start to get behind the team (now that we know the end is nigh) which can make a difference. Fingers crossed.
-
No, it is all up to us. Even if we lose tomorrow, we still have sufficient home games to stay up. Our survival rests purely with our home games (and, I believe a point at Villa is not beyond us).

Yep. The word 'geek' in the title was apt. Glad its not just me then! He must have the iq of chipmunk. Thicker than Jade Goody tbh. Then again, he is knobbin' s/mom, so his intelligence is already under question!!!

Sound real, er, fun. No. Real fun. Each to their own.

Just watched Kris Kamara (sp) do his report from the stadium of shite. Was he 'ripping the head off it' whilst he was talking??? Certainly looked like it

No they don't. They are like Portsmouth who are similarly wank fans. Go to Fratton Park now the atmosphere is dead, the realisation has set in they're not really a Premiership club, and like Stoke they will soon be where they belong. Stoke are still in first season syndrome. When we came up I'm sorry like but the atmosphere at St James' would rival anywhere in the world, Stoke are essentially on a one season jolly up, their crowds have almost trebled, give them three years in the Premiership and the atmosphere there will be wank. When Sunderland came up in 1999 the atmosphere at the SOS, far exceeded that of the Britannia, Barnsley made Oakwell intimidating, and the likes of Wolves have done exactly the same. It always amazes me that people fall in to the trap of praising the supports of promoted clubs, and Stoke in particular. Stoke City as a club and as a support in my view are some of the biggest tossers this league has ever known in my time watching football, they are shit fans on their one season jolly up, I have no respect for them and as I said they are no different from any other club that's been promoted. As for us, being a resident of Newcastle I think we are a special club, we are unique and I would argue that point with anywhere and to be fair anyone that's ever played here will tell you really have to live here to understand how unique. Sir Les and Mick Quinn seems to say it every week. Great minds, and all that. I was thinking the exact same thing the other day regarding Barnsley being an example of a club coming up and their fans hoodwinking all and sundry into believing it was like that all the time. The truth is that these small clubs come up and immediately create an atmosphere as if it's a sixth-form party where one or two wine gums have been eaten. WBA were lauded as the same fantastic fans the season they were up, yet nowt is heard about them now (I still think the Baggies fans are better than Stoke's will ever be btw). Stoke are having their day in the sun playing a brand of football that should really have inverted commas either side of it - it stinks. Next season will be problems for them as Pullis will have to decide to try and play the same shite again, or try to change and play real football; either way, they will struggle and their 'magnificent' support will fade and die - just like Barnsley's did. I could be wrong though

Paddy, is it true that with s/mom's figure being 32e she looks like a claw hammer when standing up??

A very good post, particularly the bit about being genetically pre wired. While I would not consider myself a racist, there are situations when I act in ways that could only be described as racist. I am sure this is very true in all races. We probably can't discuss these things on here which is a shame. Let's just brush issues under the carpet rather than exploring different ideas. I think most people / races are racist. Disagree. Most people are not racist imo. Most people are merely victims of the bleeding heart twats' definition of being a racist. The vast majority of us have been caught in the world of the pc wankers and the perceived belief that if one acts outside their parameters therefore makes us baaaad and destined for hell.

Please don't further infest this thread with that monkey-faced woman's name. Paddy, s/mom says she has a 32" chest. This means she must be like a broomshank with tits - something our dear Lara is most certainly not.

I have to disagree with that. We've been playing very good football for a couple of months now even when results haven't gone our way. Why d'you have to piss on my parade? I have seen Spurs for, oooh, all of half an hour (apart from the game at St James') this year and just know they are nothing special. Shearer reads my posts, so now, having read your reply, he doesn't know what to expect. Well done. -

The thing is he is desperate for a Spurs win so he can gloat, but I reckon he will attempt to come over as the 'look, I told you it wasn't much of a deal to me - unlike you lot and your cup final etc etc'. The thing is - why would our ''cup final'' be fucking Spurs? He's so pathetically deluded it's unreal, you would think he's a mackem Tbh, Spurs think EVERY game's a cup final pretty much. Chelsea, Arse, Us, Hammers, ManU etc etc, when in reality, I don't think anyone really cares apart from them. To us, it's just another fixture where less than three points is a bad result. Yep. Oh Well. I think the day when Spurs is our ''cup final'' is when we meet them in an actual cup final I wouldn't hold you're breath. Yeah I don't think we are really that fussed about the Milk cup. HA HA you would cum in your pants (if your old enough) atthe thought of a trip to Wembley. Over rated tbh, no comparison with the San Siro/Nou Camp etc. Rubbish, I have been to all three and Wembley is easily top of the list. Nou Camp is a bit of a dump to be honest, not even as good as the Bernabeu. Are you fucking serious? Have you had a proper look round the stadium? I got a tour last year and its one of the best things ive ever seen. Its absolutely maginificent and everything is perfectly clean. The trophy cabint is huge, it has its own museum which covers 2 floors. A seperate building for its club shop it has so much merchandise. Even comparing it to another stadium its in no way a dump. Perhaps to your own shitty ground yes. How did you get the vid of wor lass in the throws of ecstacy??
