Wenger blasts Arsenal board and demands showdown talks
Happy Face replied to Snake's topic in Newcastle Forum
Do you write Daily Mail headlines? -
And it's always better to exceed expectations which is impossible if you say, "We're going to try and win it."

I don't mind a step by step approach but that's not what Mort is hinting at - I'm also worried by Kev's "not in my time" quote but I put that down to the Chelsea loss disappointment. Mort's programme notes.... That bold bit suggest to me Mort is thinking long term, not short term.

A ridiculous view considering only 3 teams have won the title in more than a decade. Yes but more than 3 teams have tried. I know we won't be challenging for the title next season, but I want to know we'll be giving it our best shot. Including us. I think it's ridiculous to plan for next season in terms of mounting a title challenge. It's sensible to target fifth place and buy accordingly. I think Keegan and Mort and Ashley and the majority of fans would agree with that one step at a time approach. And I think that's all Keegan was saying because one defeat in 9 (?) and matching Chelsea for 45 minutes might have got people dreaming a bit.

Ting Tings - That's Not My Name That's some catchy shit.

Well the Daily Mail's backpage leads with "Keegan on the brink" and it's not like them to be sensationalist or anything. I can see why they get that impression.... “I think it’s very, very exciting to finish fifth in the league for Newcastle,” he said. “You’d be mad in my position to say we can get in the top-four next season. You can’t ask an owner to spend that kind of money or get the players to come to this club that you would need to get in the top four. “We lost out on (Luka) Modric to Spurs and that tells you something. It’s a blow – it’s not the end of the world. “I’m still optimistic for this club in terms of where it’s been in the last couple of years.” http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastl...61634-20865971/

Kevin Keegan confronts grim reality at Newcastle United

It's a non-story given that everyone at the club is reading from the same page. And to be fair, I've not seen the papers make a big deal of it. there was only a third of one column on it in todays Metro anyway.

Tenacious D - Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown) I can only take rock seriously if it's funny as fuck these days. We are the D! We are the D! We are the D! We are the D! We are the D! We are the D!

I'm starting to find that a bit tedious tbh, tortued soul blahblahblah. I agree. Parky made me laugh earlier when he said "It'll be good if it's dark". Why's that? The Batman TV show was better than any of the films. Bollocks. Batman, and Batman Begins are both really good films, the tv show was a camp-fest. The thing about superheros is that the characters themselves are dark on the whole, certainly the Marvel characters. The films have got to reflect that. Ironman should be good though. SuperTed wasn't

I agree. Only brought it up because of the 'only Arsenal or Liverpool' comments.

Are you talking about living arrangements? Take it he was living there from his Everton days? Aye, and I meant weeks, not years.
-
Keegan forced Dunne to leave Liverpool in the first place as he was too much of a pisshead, so i can't see him moving back there. Turned up to training rat-arsed too and Keegan fined him 2 years wages, but was on the verge of terminating his contract.

I can't wait for next seasons fixtures to come out. A rather refreshing change after the last 3 years.

20,000 under the sea would do me like. Wehay. You mean Wahey? Unless you and Dave make hay together, in which case c'est la vie. -

Why would you want to hang on to N'zogbia? He hasn't been injured these past 2 months you know. -
I agree and fear that's not enough - Villa, City etc will be spending that imo. that's no investment tho is it , its just using the tv money like every other club will be . lets face it , we were the only team tobe beaten by derby . if everyone else spends 50 mill , and we spend 50 mill , there is little chance of us moving forward . With Keegan in charge from the start, this squad would have been competing with Portsmouth, Blackburn, Villa and Everton. Matching their investment will ensure we do so next year and put ourselves in a position to bid for top class players and really spend big. I honestly believe we're better off spending about as much as we did last year, anything more and we're throwing money at average players because no-one with ability and ambition should be attracted to us right now.

“Providing the owner backs me – and I’ve no proof of that yet, but no doubts he will – I can get three or four players in and if I can do that – and we have luck and no injuries to key, key players – then we might be able to win the ‘second league’ in the Premiership.” http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastl...61634-20865971/ to me that reads like he's pushing for a larger investment , he's pretty sure we are going to get enough for the 3-4 players , and with that he can make a challange on the teams in 10th to 5th . if ashley wants more than that he needs to rethink how much he's investing . thats how i take that anyway . seems like he's a fair idea of what he's getting . Reads to me like all the money in the world wouldn't be enough to break into the top 4, but with the full backing of the chairman (which he expects), we could possibly come fifth. When Abramovich took over Chelsea (already in 4th place) it still took them two years to win anything. Ashley taking on a club in 14th can provide all the money he's asked for, but it won't have us challenging for another few years.

So long Sam Dingle, good luck. Fuck off Carr, have a word with Keane and see if you can help relegate them next year.
