Glad to see this has all turned around in the last 3 years.

I just think we have "holes" in the team, therefore even short term buys would have been a good thing. You don't have to think long term in everything you do. Football is always such that a player who improves the team is worth buying at the right price and at the right terms. You replace with better as you go. We have had a small squad, low on quality and numbers up front all season and have played a dangerous game. Now its all going tits up. We could be in a serious position here now. Agree with most of that. The flak I took for suggesting we should freshen the squad for the run-in (even one quality player gives the side a lift) was people locked into an imaginary mindset that there are perfect times to buy players and bad times. There is IMO never a bad time to buy a quality player. It won't be any easier in the summer either if we finish 4th bottom etc... You never got flak for saying we need some qulaity, everyone agrees with that. You got flak because you were going on like Keegan didn't think so too...even though he was chasing people at the time.

He mentioned it and didn't seem too bothered. He said this is the way it is and you'd rather be involved in that sort of thing than not. Very happy with 7 subs too. Around the 38 minute mark.

Derby Chairman was on 5 Live this morning saying how one game abroad can bring in 10% of their seasons income, which basically justifies it for the lower teams. I can't see how that's any justification if they draw Man Utd in the extra game and end up relegated because the fellow strugglers got Newcastle and an easy 3 points. Seems a gamble of Drangons Denesque proportions.

Is Football so different here these days. I've never been to a 4 hour game of football.

I spent yesterday listening to Blue Cathedral by Comets on Fire and as much as I really enjoyed it, it's not as good as Avatar. Can't wait for a new one. Today it's been In The Future, the new Black Mountain one. I think I like it better than the eponymous album, even though there's nowt as good as Modern Music and the fella sometimes strays into Ozzy mode on it.

Maybe if you were a Gannet.

You're the one that likes The Shield aren't you? [/withering sarcasm] On that, just finished series 1 of the Shield. It's all a bit Might start series 2. I might have been harsh on it considering I haven't seen it. I must also apologise to Jimbo for going all Parky on the show which could well be excellent. I was just light headed at an hour of the day I barely knew existed, and reacted badly to the genius that is The Sopranos being questioned. The fuck all the fuss is about is the most gorgeous show ever made. It's not so much a TV show as an all time classic 100 hour long film, being shown on TV in parts. No other episodic show comes close to it's symbolism and deeper subject matter. I know that further up I said the West Wing is better, but honestly, that was just heat of the moment hyperbole. The West Wing is brilliant for a TV show, but it's just an intelligent and well written political soap opera. The Sopranos sits above The Godfather(s). It elevates television to an art form. No offense taken, I was expecting watching the Sopranos to be a life changing experience but I was left feeling somewhat underwhelmed, I think with it being hyped up so much I had high expectations, had I see it without the build up I may have thought more of it. In all honesty, I can hardly remember the first series. I watched the pilot back a few months ago and was amazed how much the show has evolved. It really hits it's stride in season 2, around the episode called 'Pine Barrens'
