Exactly. The only people you see in your home page are the people you have followed yourself. You can use my list 2 ways... 1. Pick and choose from the members who to follow yourself, which will add them to your timeline. 2. Subscribe to my list which won't affect your homepage at all, but will let you access the filtered list of tweets from those people quickly. Similarly you can set up your own lists like that. Create one called "ex-girlfriends" and you can read their tweets away from your homepage as and when, without them being aware that you follow them. Create one called "cocks" for Owen, Piers Morgan, nile Ranger and other bell-ends that shouldn't have so many followers Create one called "friends" for the people you follow that you know personally, so their tweets don't get lost among the millions of others.

I don't actually subscribe to anyone elses lists so I'm not certain, but I guess it works the same was as it does for me as the list creator. Which is not that it makes you follow any of the people in the list, or even include them in your timeline, it just means you can go to "lists" on your account and select the list in question to display the tweets of anyone in that list. The added bonus is you don't have to follow a cock like Nile Ranger, but you can read his tweets as part of your NUFC feed

Amazes me so few other people use it without lists honestly. So much flies past in the 23 and a half hours a day you aren't monitoring it, you have to be able to filter out the shite and get to the non-incidental stuff you use it for in the first place. Also, when you're watching the fiootball there's music and film and political and comedy tweets flying past and getting in the way. Filter them out and just have a football feed where there's 160 other people watching the same game as you and talking about it. That's a massive part of the appeal.

After stints at Liverpool and Newcastle I think Guthrie knows his own level now. There's buttering and there's going against a players best interests. I think we'd have been tending to the latter if we kept him. If he stayed and kept applying himself as he has in his time I'd be delighted. As I always have been with Harper plying his trade as back up. It'll be rare that a footballer will pick your question from the thousands they get and choose to give you an answer. You can get into some conversations with first teamers. Stevie had a good talk with Danny 'United' Simpson which stands out as a highlight that I recall. You can't just join and start asking them questions expecting an answer though. You need to generate yourself some followers. Only your followers will see your tweets. You do that by following people, tweeting at them and also tagging your thoughts "#NUFC", "#ENGLAND" "#euro2012" for example. People that like the cut of your jib when they read the feed for those topics will follow you. Then when you tweet at Sol Campbell that he's a twat, all your followers will retweet it...and it's much more likely to get a response from the attention hungry bell whiff. Personally I don't care about getting into chats with famous people though. I follow them as a direct news feed rather than in the hope of reciprocation. If I tweet at sonmeone famous, like Michael Owen, it's more for the followers I have to see, like being in the pub and slagging off Michael Owen. On Twitter you get back what you put in, if you're funny, interesting, frequent and you follow others, retweet and interact (with people likely to interact back, toontasticers for example) then you'll soon build a following and be hooked.

Most footballers on Twitter come across as cocks, but having looked at the list or released young guns again I note 5 out of 7 of those names are the ones all over twitter with their NUFC pictures as a profile pic, going on like they're top internationals. Wonder if it's an attitude thing.

I've not given it a fraction of the listening time as the above two as yet, but I think the BADBADNOTGOOD album BBNG2 deserves a mention. I don't like Jazz in the least bit, however much Miles Davis I've tried to force-feed myself, but this bunch of 21 year old talented, cool as fuck little shits have given me a better entry into Jazz than any other before. Jazz fans might look down their noses at it (or not, i have no idea) but all I can say is "nice", Tribe call Quest, Kanye West and James Blake covers float my boat.
