  1. Is this constant misery act of yours just for attention?
  2. If that's the case then that's yet another Swansea signing I'm jealous of. I know they sold Allen, but still, even Swansea are spending far more than us...
  3. I see that Mirallas has only gone and scored twice on his debut (against Orient, admittedly, but still).
  4. Hamburg. And no sources I'm aware of suggest it is anything other than a possibility.
  5. Yup. Like I said earlier it doesn't make much sense. I won't lie, a couple of months ago I liked where we looked to be heading transfer-wise. No huge names, but good quality players at the right age, highly rated and seemed to offer value for money and the prices quoted. It became obvious over time that our interest in these players was concrete and I thought we'd complete deals for them in good time - Douglas being the only complicated one. Then as time went on I figured the club would move on to other targets as we left deals on the table for the likes of Debuchy in case Lille changed their mind or the player requested a transfer. As I said it looks very much like this is not the case, that the aforementioned deals on the table were the only ones on it and that the club are OK with just going with what we've got. It's bemusing. The players we've been linked to are not special cases in positions that aren't a worry. in fact - forget CBs getting injured again - what are we going to do if Simpson gets injured?
  6. You don't achieve something ln life and then write it off as an over-achievement. We've not been asking for massive signings, huge names, 10s of millions being spent. Just 3 or 4 players to add quality and strength in depth in very specific positions. RB is the only position where most argue we could do with someone coming in as the new first choice player in that position. The rest of our best first 11 is good enough as is. Another CB would help as questions remain over the likes of Williamson if Colo/Taylor get injured again. Another striker is obviously very much needed - and I don't even think we need to reach as 'high' as the likes of Carroll (the players acrossthepond listed are more what I'm thinking) - as if Ba/Cisse get injured we might struggle with the likes of Sammy, Shola and perhaps Campbell as inadequate replacements. I get the impression the board think ambition is holding on to your best players. It is, but real ambition would be adding to what you've got and Anita, two teenagers and a player from Ligue 2 are not enough. Simply not enough to take us further and I think we'll really struggle to get fifth or even sixth this season if things stay as they are.
  7. Maybe you're right, but on the other hand I'm not sure we can afford to take the risk. We did it last season by waiting till January to buy another striker it and that risk paid off handsomely. It's the fact that we've had a long time to create a good list of players in case our first choices don't join that disturbs me. Focusing on certain players like that - if that's the case which it might well not be - is a dangerous game. It's not like we've lost a player on the last day of the window and have no time for find an adequate replacement, which is something I can understand although that sort of situation is a bad one for its own reasons. Maybe we've gone after other players and this just hasn't been reported, who knows.
  8. Wondering what the scout's mandate was for this summer. Looks to me like they were told 4 positions that needed strengthening (CB, FB, striker, CM) and asked to find just the one target for each (de Jong, Anita, Douglas and Debuchy). Carroll being a special case once it became apparent that Rodgers is not his biggest fan and that they might sell. Why have we spent months and months after the likes of Debuchy/Douglas only to appear to give up on them because their clubs understandably want us to pay just a little bit more to match their asking price. If we can't get Debuchy in then why not someone else? We haven't been properly linked to a single other RB at all despite it being easily the most obvious weak link especially given Simpson's precaurious contract situation.
  9. Spot on*, although like CT I'll be waiting for the window to pass before making a final judgement. *Apart from the bit where you misspelled Anita.
  10. I can't, enough people would miss me on this forum and I don't want to break their hearts. Different story for you mind. I'm not sure how it's possible to be so contradictory (wrong? or just a WUM?) about just about everything (especially politics and football). Special talent that. Congratulations.
  11. I can't take much more of this Twitter shit. Goodbye cruel world.
  12. Hang on, Tav isn't ready (after one game) but Good is? Why would we even consider playing him ahead of Taylor etc if they're fit? We're not playing till the Sunday so there's less fixture congestion than there was last week. I thought your WUMing days were over.
  13. I wonder if Debuchy took the picture for him.
  14. Didn't Rodgers say he was totally against loaning him to anyone?
  15. Don't get me started on Twitter 'ITKs'. My #1 pet hate right now.
  16. Every club gets the odd lucky result. Not sure why you're making out like Newcastle are the only club that do.
